I'm going to crush this restaurant because the bartender drove the worst experience I've almost ever had in a restaurant. I worked in a restaurant starting as a teen. My brother was a chef du cuisine, not a cook. He taught me decades ago how to make a dining experience worthy of people's spending. This was not it. The food was amazing but left the experience me feeling as if I wasted my money. The grumpiness of the individual behind the bar where we sat and ate was showmanship beyond unprofessionalism. When he dropped off drinks...no eye contact, no acknowledgement of our thank yous to him. Utterly embarrassing for the establishment, and for us to support it. If you are that miserable, you should not be outward facing to represent a business. Bartending is an art rooted in many aspects beyond drink making, especially if you are representing a business in service. No offers of drinks with empty drink glasses after rounds 1 and 2. No acknowledgement of empty dishes with wishes of subsequent courses that we were interested in. Yikes, this was bad. read more

Primo Grill never disappoints! It's become our casual date night place, or somewhere to treat guests. We like to order a few appetizers (if not one of everything, depending on the size of our group), and a couple of main dishes to share, leaving room for desert. Their drinks are always interesting and on point (even their N/A's). I would love it if they made their pasta with shrimp/seafood an everyday plate, but, like with their squid ink pasta, I can wait. read more

First visit, on way home to Olympia Sunday after a matinee at the Paramount in downtown Seattle. Arrived a bit early for our reservation and were seated promptly. Server was attentive, very friendly, and knowledgeable. My wife enjoyed a frost cosmo. We then started with roasted calamari (which was quite flavorful, although the meat was a bit tough) and herbed focaccia (wonderful for dipping the calamari sauce). The ahi special and boneless short ribs were our entrees; both came nicely presented and were very tasty. Both pretty full, we ended up with a bourbon chocolate cake and fruit hand pie to go, which were both delicious. The restaurant is not large, and filled up while we were there, making it somewhat noisy, but not bad. It is a nicely appointed, appealing place, with a great team making it all happen. Feeling bummed...But starting from the top- it was the only place we could get in without having to wait an hour and I wanted good pasta, so we reserved a spot in the car and walked in to be seated about 10 minutes after (which was after our reservation time). Was seated without menus and waited a good amount of time before water was poured. Menu's received just after, ordered the Brussels and bruschetta then drinks. Starters came out fairly quickly- I liked them both- my boyfriend didn't favor either. Food came out later- first the pork chops, my son's cheese pizza, then my penne. The pork chops were the biggest disappointment. As soon as I saw him pick up his knife and try to cut it I got worried. It shouldn't require a lot of work to cut a good pork chop. When I tried a bite the flavor was disappointing. Kids cheese pizza was good. My son referred to it as cheese bread since there wasn't any red sauce, but I guess we couldn't have specified that when ordering. I tried it and thought the crust was really nice, light and thin. My penne was good. The sauce was a bit too salty so I didn't each much, but the noodles were cooked perfectly, presentation was nice and had a little kick to it. I would have lightened the Parmesan and added pepper to the top. So, needless to say the craving for pasta didn't hit on all levels tonight. Not sure if I'd try it again unless I'm aiming for pizza. read more

Great dinner. The restaurant was great, the customer service and hospitality was amazing. I loved the energy in the place. It was a Friday night so it was buzzing with customers. Make reservations!!! Parking in Tacoma is always tough so make sure to get there early. Food time! I had the Moroccan chicken and it was tender, moist, flavorful and well portioned. I couldn't finish the entire serving. My friends tried different dishes. One had the New York steak but said it was dry and well done even though he specified he would like it medium. My other friend had the pork chop and mentioned it was delish. Last dish was the penne ala vodka. He mentioned it was made perfect. We also ordered the burrata with delicata squash, pomegranate seeds and fig gastrique drizzle. This was AMAZING. I've never had these flavors together before. Our servers and the hostess were so accommodating. They have these glass garage style doors that I'm sure they open up during summer months. I love this place and definitely plan on returning. Ooooo, Bathroom was clean, that's a plus!! Always like to provide that feedback. We also ordered bourbon chocolate cake that was devoured. Great place to gather with people you like. Went here for Valentine's Day and had a phenomenal experience! Not only was the service quick, attentive, and friendly, the aesthetic was nice and the food was excellent. To start, my wife and I tried their brand new Espresso Martini and to our astonishment, the bartender actually came up to our table and told us it was the first day that they were offering that drink and wanted an honest review. Truthfully, it was great! Sometimes espresso martinis don't have the right mix of flavor and just taste like bitter vodka and coffee, separately. But this drink was very succinct and well mixed. We had the ragu and the New York steak and both dishes exceeded our expectations! I have no notes or ideas for improvement, they were perfection! Service was terrible. The girl who served us was so rude to my husband (the birthday boy). She made a comment that we wouldn't need sharing plates because it's a fine dining establishment? Like chill girl it's just a decent restaurant in Tacoma, WA. I'm sure she could have had a bigger order from us if she had came back to check up on us. Weird attitude from her all night. Just stopped in for some drinks. This place has a super cute, clean and refined look to it. I love the big windows that open up to the outside for when the weather is nice. We were greeted by an incredibly welcoming host who let us know that we could sit anywhere we'd like at the bar. We visited on a Saturday right when they opened at 4 o'clock and we're surprised to see that they had a happy hour during that time. Although we didn't order anything from that menu still unattractive option. My friend ordered a nonalcoholic cocktail which looked beautiful, but had table salt all over the rim. So overwhelming she had to scrape it off in order to enjoy her drink. Unfortunately, a good amount of it fell in her drink, and she couldn't finish the bottom portion because it was so salty. I ordered the rosy bees knees and it just felt like a confusing drink. Love the description and flavor profile but it wasn't executed very well. This was a very cute place for a date night. The food was quite tasty and we were so happy with our appetizers. For our main, my husband got the penne ala vodka with a half chicken. The chicken had great flavor and the past was also good. I got the pork chop which I normally don't do that often because pork is hard to cook. It came out and it was medium rare (and no one advised that it would be undercooked or asked for a temp) It took a long time for us to flag down our waitress after we got our mains so by the time I got my dish back, my husband was done eating. The drinks were very good also. We got the chocolate cake which isn't listed as flourless so it can be misleading as to what it is. We got the vanilla panna cotta as well which was good but we weren't blown away by either dessert. When all was said and done our bill was well over 200 for the two of us and we were honestly shocked that we didn't get comp'd a small something for me getting medium rare pork. The menu has a great balance -- a solid base of dishes you can always count on, plus rotating specials that keep things fresh and give you a reason to come back. Everything we ordered was well-cooked and full of flavor. The drinks deserve a mention too -- strong, balanced, and crafted with some care instead of just being poured together. They just never fail us and we always enjoy our meals, they have staples on the menu that you can enjoy time and time again, or try one of the seasonal specials which are creative and delicious. There's always a full restaurant and it's a pleasant atmosphere, full of rich conversations and laughter. I was super excited to eat here I saw they had a tomahawk steak on their menu to pre order $120 and so I did a week in advanced I was super excited for it. I came in for my reservation got a drink and an appetizer and then told them about my steak when it was time to order entrees about 20min after getting seated and I'm told they never ordered the steak for me so what I was looking forward to the most on my birthday I did not get because of lack of communication in the restaurant. My waitress was very nice I honestly forgot her name but it was a Thursday night I went in she gave me a free dessert refunded my $ and was very apologetic. I just wish she would have told us as soon as we sat down. I would have honestly just left. So I hope to give this place another try but probably just won't trust the ordering of the tomawhk here. I ordered the grilled Moroccan chicken and was pretty disappointed. It was extremely fatty. The dish also came with "lemon aioli" which just tasted like mayonnaise. I visited Primo Grill with a small group before attending a nearby Christmas play. We stopped in here for some pre-play dinner and drinks and had a great time! Service was great and really attentive, and they were really gracious with my group after me being half an hour late *eeeek* due to bad traffic. The atmosphere is great as well, definitely more of an intimate/romantic vibe. My table saved me some bites of some of the appetizers, and the standout for me was the roasted cauliflower. I think cauliflower is SO underrated and this dish was done sooo well. Would definitely get it again! For my entree, I got the carbonara. Can almost never say no if that's on the menu. It was definitely really good, but I can't say it's the best I've had. Still really tasty though, just was missing a little bit more flavor! It was my first time in and I definitely plan on returning for happy hour (in the bar only) as they have a really great and affordable HH menu. We hosted a Galentine dinner here last night...it could not have been more perfect. Naomi, our server, was so amazing. I honestly don't think I've had better service anywhere else (and we eat out quite a bit). She was on her game, gave wonderful recommendations, and was really funny. Rachel, the manager, bless her heart (in the non-condescending tone) answered multiple calls from me throughout the week and was super helpful. The service was great, our server was very nice and responsive. My picky eaters found entrees they loved. Every thing was delicious. Well seasoned and fresh. We had the fungi pizza, I give it an 8. A green salad that was a bit too lemony, I give it a 6. My son had pasta with shrimp and it was so good that everyone was fighting over the shrimp! I had crab cakes that were excellent, fresh and crispy, and smaller than usual. I give them a 10! Its been a while since I last reviewed, but I do have to say we have been visiting at least once a year to Primo Grill. Primo Grill continues to be a 5-star restaurant each visit. We made a reservation a year prior and requested for a seat by the window because i wanted it to be "romantic and special" for the hubby's birthday. They did just that. For entrees we ordered the seafood special which was between the lobster or the salmon. Salmon was soft and not dry and was served atop asparagus. The asparagus was lightly drizzled in oil. We also ordered the Classic Pizza. Very thin crust and tasted much better fresh than to take home. Not thick cheese mor overloaded with condiments. Overall, will continue to come back here again.
