At first we stopped in a chain restaurant for dinner and it was packed. We walked down the street to The Daily Pressed. It looked inviting so we went in. We explained our poor planing and asked if they'd be able to accommodate our schedule. The worker was very kind and suggested we stick to salads or sandwiches since those can be made more quickly. We enjoyed our selections and made it to the show on time. I would visit again if I were in the area.

In other words, majority of my reviews are highly favorable. This review is not highly favorable. The food was fine. The burgers were good, and the fries were excellent. The old-fashioned's we ordered with our meal were solid as well. The reason I am giving such a low review, is the honor and integrity of the gentleman working behind the bar at 6:30 on Friday, February 13. When we asked if there were any happy hour specials, he told us there was an unadvertised $7 burger. He did point out in the menu that if we were to add condiments, they would be roughly $.20 apiece. Sounded fine. I didn't calculate how many condiments we added, because I knew it would be a minimal additional cost. When we received the bill, it was $17 for each burger and another $4 each for the fries. That means each burger was $14 more in total than what he told us the price was going to be. He then proceeded, condescendingly, to explain to my wife and I how we didn't understand his original guidance. We understood just fine; he was making a few extra dollars on the sale by not being upfront. His explanation was that the menu was changing, which is why these prices had to be told to us verbally. There was no misunderstanding. It was a used car salesman approach on hidden costs, over a hamburger. The entire point of going to a restaurant for customers is to feel satisfied with their food, and experience, not to trick them into feeling like they misunderstood simple guidance on ordering food and now paying twice as much. The larger purpose of a restaurant for the vendor is to bring back return business. Businesses succeed when people return, and more importantly, bring other people into the restaurant. In summary, this was a wasted opportunity for the restaurant as the food was good and the decor inside is immaculate. But, it is essential that a place of business makes customers feel respected and has employees capable of treating patrons as intelligent customers who deserve a hassle free evening out, without hidden costs not advertised on a menu.

Flavor was not as good as I've had elsewhere. A person I was with purchased an iced latte. They automatically put sugar into it without asking. The person I was with did not want sugar in their drink and we didn't realize until we got in the car and started driving away when he took his first sip. If you like a lot of sugar, I guess this is the place for you because they automatically add sugar to their Matcha latte too. You can't even get it without sugar.

They have been roasting their own beens for a long time and have in the speciality coffee scene for just as long. Their menu is like many of the coffee shops in the area with a few hot/cold espresso and season drinks. They also sell their own mocha and other powders so you can make the drinks at home. Muggwigz also serves and sells their own teas and their selection is fairly extensive. They also sell tea and coffee paraphernalia, although the selection is limited to a few shelves. They have a larger selection at their flagship store in Canton. I really appreciate the training the baristas have to go through to learn how to make espresso drinks. Because of this I have confidence that they will prepare the drinks well. The baristas are friendly, thoughtful, invested in their job and take pride in what they do. This location sells freshly made bread items in house each day. I like that they have a community board and a selection of games for customers to play. A few of their tables are large enough for a group of 8 to play games. There is very little that is attractive about the design and decor. It's as if the design and decor were not even thought about. And that's okay, it's just I would give a better review to a coffee shop that puts more more into the interior design etc. I also gave this place 3/5 because there are a few ways I think they could improve behind the register compared to other local coffee shops that are doing it better.

If you get there around 8:30am or 9:00am, however, forget it! Crazy lines, and orders get immensely backed up. Typically Starbucks fare. However, since it is a campus location, when they run out of products towards the end of the year/holiday, that's it. Keep that in mind if you're looking for your favorite muffin! Also - they don't take all rewards/coupons there. I'm a gold card member, and my rewards on my card don't work there. Something to think about before visiting if that was your intent!

Let me be clear - I didn't even order a drink here, so this review is just about the atmosphere. I was here to interview a high school senior who applied to my alma mater, and since he worked after school at UAkron, we decided to meet here. Parking - if you're not a student, not great. I managed to snag a metered spot (1 hour max) outside the union, but there weren't many of those. The Starbucks was also a little hard to find - it's all the way at the end of the union. Wifi - even nonstudents can access the UAkron guest network. However, I found it to be really slow, and it kept kicking me off so I had to reload a lot of pages. Not ideal, but since most people here are students...not a huge issue. However - the space is laid out great. There's ample chairs, ranging from standard hard plastic cafe chairs to armchairs to leather chairs. As a bonus, some chairs have cupholders and a little swing-out writing/laptop surface: perfect for studying, reading, taking notes, using your computer, etc. There's a really good amount of tables too: this place was clearly designed with a large student population in mind. The staff was being helpful to other groups, helping some UAkron organization set up at their tables. Anyway, well done Starbucks/designers of the union!
