Very unassuming diner. In fact, I didn't even know it was there, as there wasn't any signage. (I'm not sure that's always the case, or if I just missed it, but I wouldn't have seen the restaurant if I hadn't Googled and GPS'd it). The place was BUSY and we sat down at a recently unoccupied, but still full of dirty dishes, booth to get a seat (the waitress near the door instructed us to, "go ahead and find an empty spot." It took a little while for the table to be cleared and the servers to acknowledge us, but not TOO long considering how packed it was. The food was very good and the servers were attentive with refills on the coffee and soda. I had the Herb Nelson (a scramble) and my partner had a burger. If I find myself in Streetsboro in need of breakfast or lunch, I'd definitely return! read more

Seat yourself! The tag teaming waitresses were all nice. The diet soda I got was gross, I don't know if the syrup just needed to be changed? Either way they did let me switch to a coffee. It was very typical burnt dinner coffee. The food took a little while to come out, but when it did...yum!! I had the eggs benedict with hash browns. It was all seasoned perfectly. I normally prefer my potatoes a bit crispier, but they were delicious. My husband had a western egg sandwich on a croissant, which he enjoyed very much. We shared a half order of biscuits and gravy. I would get my own next time... too good to share. We also had a slice of French toast and a pancake with the "turtle" topping. The French toast was NOT cinnamon, which is what I am used to, so the first bite I was a little thrown, but I would definitely get it again. The pancake with the turtle topping, it wasn't all topping, they had mixed the pecans and chocolate chips right into the batter and then drizzled it with caramel and topped with whipped cream. All delicious! The actual building may be hard to find if you don't have good gps. There is currently no signage with the name of the restaurant. This is now the 2nd time we have gone there and had to wait on service. The 1st time 3 of us ordered our food and it took almost an hour before we got up and left because the food never came. This time 2 of us sat down and never got greeted for over 15 minutes. So we left. Other people were also saying how slow the service was. This location is sadly going downhill. read more

So, we decided to finally try this place since most of the breakfast places in Streetsboro have closed. We were very pleasantly surprised, and wish we had tried it much sooner. There are several places around Portage county that we like to frequent for breakfast, and sometimes dinner, but Jim's Open Kitchen Too has now become our favorite breakfast place. My parents and I went for the first time about a month ago. We kept putting it off because it looked small from the outside. The minute we walked in we were greeted by friendly staff and although when it's busy you are seated by the staff, since we got there when they first opened they told us to sit wherever we wanted. It's a long building and they have booths, tables, and a long counter you can sit at. It is a tight space if it gets too crowded, but I like it. The first time I tried there griddle combo with a waffle with the banana split topping. It was great! It was the perfect size meal, not too much and not too little. The waffle was the perfect texture and the nuts in the topping added a good crunch. Just so you know usually home fries or potatoes on the side are extra. If it doesn't say it comes with potatoes or anything else just assume it's going to be an extra charge. The toppings for the waffle and pancakes are extra also, but I think it's worth it. All the times we have went the servers are always friendly, the food is piping hot and tastes great, and we always leave happy and full! read more

If you're looking for a classic diner breakfast, this is your place in the Aurora, Hudson, Streetsboro area. The place is clean, fast, and reasonably priced. If you're looking for a mimosa, or Bloody Mary with your meal, this is not your place. No alcohol served. The location is easy to find right off SR 14 in Streetsboro. I don't eat pancakes or waffles, but I'm told they're very good. Update - still 5 stars. I've eaten at Jim's more times that I'd care to admit. Never once have I been disappointed with the food. We've driven by here a couple times and finally stopped. Boy have we been missing out. We both ordered The Number One. Hubby had pancakes and I had the waffle. I'm picky about pancakes but tasted his and they were delicious. I'd order them but I love the waffle. It was perfect. The coffee was really good and everything was delicious. I'm so glad we stopped. In my humble opinion, this is the best place for breakfast in the entirety of northeast Ohio. Headed here again this morning for the Herb Nelson with an extra egg and bacon... OH MY... so delicious. The Herb Nelson is like a hash of sorts, with everything cooked together and mixed up, which I like to do with eggs over easy and home fries anyway... also has onions and cheddar cheese, and it's so very delicious. Everything here is great. Friends have had omelets and the waffle, southern fried chicken, and just "regular' bacon and eggs, and everything tastes wonderful. The place is crazy, especially on weekends, and it helps that the waitstaff loves to work there and really does have fun doping their job. Oh, did I mention the coffee?? This is one of those joints where some folks that can tell it's a decent diner by the building and overflowing parking lot. You're not going to find some lobster omelet or crazy unique menu items, you WILL find a standard, modestly sized menu which is prepared consistently delicious by the cooks and served up by a crew of friendly and fast server girls. Get here early or be prepared to fight for a parking space in a large lot mostly without lines. The building is very small compared to the lines that will form for a booth or table. My hope is that it would be Fantastic as it looks like a nice "worn out" establishment which usually means great food. I think they been around for a while and the reminds me of a diner. I loved the atmosphere and it appears very clean I ordered the western omelet with white toast. Added hasbrowns for additional price and water and small OJ OMELETE was delicious with the correct t amount of additives. White toast was nicely buttered and not soggy Hasbrowns were cooked well but had a few too many hard crispy pieces in then for my taste. SM OJ hit the spot. All in all it was a nice first visit. Who is Herb Nelson?? I danno, but thanks to them!!! I enjoyed my Ultimate Herb Nelson order. My brother ordered the Country Fried Steak. I don't think he was NOT pleased with the dish, but I think he's a bit more of a meat snob than I am. As he put it, "don't think I would order it again". I liked it just fine though! I especially thought the gravy was good, and I really do feel like sometimes gravy is very difficult for some diners. Now, I only gave Jim a four out of five because (while the food/service/setting experience was a five out of five), I thought the prices were a bit high. I ended up paying $29 for the whole breakfast for two people. That's a bit high for me, so I don't think I'll be back anytime soon because I know other good diners that cost significantly less. read more

Oh, Jim's. I always laugh when people come here expecting foie gras and champagne. Jim's is a lovable greasy spoon with locally famous spots in Streetsboro & Solon. When you walk in, it is totally a retro-throw back diner. Checkered floors, bar and booth style seating and jukebox decor is all around. If you're coming to Jim's, get the breakfast. Or the milkshakes. Or why not a milkshake with your breakfast? I've seen people do it. On my last trip, I opted for the biscuits and gravy with eggs. I swear, it came out from the kitchen in 5 minutes. The breakfast menu is simple, but it gets the job done. Again, don't come here looking for foie gras. My favorite part of Jim's is the service and staff. Its so refreshing to see a staff that likes their workplace, likes working together and likes chatting with customers.
