We knew we wanted to go to the Mustard Seed. So we put Mustard Seed in our GPS and headed there. To our surprise, there was another Mustard Seed. After we shopped we were hungry and walked upstairs to eat at this cafe. I did see that they have an elevator. It is so open and airy and looks so fresh and clean. I'm always a little flustered when I need to go through my entire list of allergies with someone. The person at the cash register did not bat an eye and was very kind and patient. We placed our order and sat down. They have live music on Saturday nights which was cool. They served our food at our table. The reason I gave them 4 stars is that they did not have the Parmesan for their Caesar Salad as stated on menu. Mind you, they are connected to the supermarket, you would have thought they can complete the recipe on their menu. The salmon that was the protein requested for that salad was excellent. read more

If you're looking for a healthy place to grab a bite to eat, this is the place. They have so many different options that cater to all sorts of dietary restrictions, including vegan and vegetarian options. My favorite thing on the menu is the turmeric glow drink, which is super yummy with a little kick from the cayenne pepper, and the kale and cranberry salad with grilled chicken. One of my favorite stops in the Highland Square neighborhood. The market has a large and diverse selection of fresh, quality foods - many organic and locally sourced. The cafe has a multi page menu that offers appetizers, salads, smoothies, contrails, sandwiches, sides and more. The Honey Sriracha Chicken sandwich was crunchy, juicy and well seasoned. The bun was more of a roll, very buttery and toasted. The pickles, honey and sriracha are served on the side, so you can add as much or little as you like. I ordered the sweet potato fries and while they tasted fresh, they were noticably undercooked. I ordered the blood orange bourbon lemonade cocktail and found it to be well crafted and very refreshing, especially on a warm and sunny summer afternoon. My food arrived before my drink order, which was less refreshing. Great food, great view, good service. Always worth a stop. read more

I love the mustard seed! I've been here for brunch, salad, and coffee. All were stellar. Separate entrance from the grocery store. Seat yourself, and it's clear when you walk in that you order at the counter and they bring food out to you. Huge dining space and good sized patio if you'd rather get some sun outside. It would be a great place to bring a book and I saw several people with work laptops, though there are tvs at the bar if that's more your style. Met up with an old business client here while in town for a conference. Due to my location, and his knowledge of the area he suggested coming here. I got here early and walked upstairs. Not busy when we showed up, it was around 11:30. This place can only be easily described as a local version of Whole Foods. Smaller footprint, unique and organic items, and freshly made food in their cafe along with fresh juices and smoothies. It was nice out today, we sat outside. The soup of the day was Italian wedding soup so I went with a grilled cheese, added chorizo, and the wedding soup. I ordered a small glass of their carrot juice and grabbed an ice water (self serve) and grabbed a spot in the sun. The tables all have umbrellas but if you choose wisely you can enjoy the weather as it turns quickly from summer to fall. I was informed that the soup was still being warmed up so I was given the option of waiting, changing sides, or going with the Thai coconut soup with veggies (chose this since I had a hankering for soup today). Everything was prepared nicely. The sandwich was robust, grilled to perfection, and crispy/buttery on the outside while luxuriously gooey and salty on the inside. Easy to put down. Also had some greens in there, to give you the opinion that this has some healthiness to it. I destroyed the meal. The juice was nice, not super sweet and it was also good to get a serving of vegetables. I took a walk downstairs after the meal to see what was offered. Noticed a lot of self branded items offered. For my job, I'm involved with labeling and saw some synergies that could work nicely together. Tried to set up a meeting with the manager but he was busy at the time. So, I asked if I could come back tomorrow and introduce myself. This is a gem in the city. When we left the cafe the line was out the door and halfway down the stairs. Clearly they have a great connection with the community and are building something special here. Can't wait to come back tomorrow and see if I cannot build a relationship with the store together. Only because this is the third or fourth time I I'm annoyed. Dude, a grown man has to order 3x the menu items in order to live... Avocado toast = My kids appetizer. How hard could it be to either A.) Prices here are pretty high but there's tons of amazing things you can't find at your typical grocery store and it's amazing for the health conscious. How disappointing. We went today. This chilly Monday afternoon. My husband is gluten-free so I knew this would be a good choice for someplace to go that would cater to that. We went through the mustard seed, market, washed our hands, then, upstairs to the café as our first time, we weren't sure what to do. We were told right away to grab a menu, grab our own utensils, order, and leave a tip. Then take a number and go sit down. My husband asked where the tip went to. The cashier said it was split between him in the server. I opted for the Avocado BLT and side of kettle chips. and my husband got the two tacos - gluten-free. We went to our seats in a few minutes later, and food came out when I picked up my sandwich it was actually warm and crunchy a really good flavor. However, when I moved, the bag of chips underneath, it was a wilted piece of lettuce in the end cuts of a pickle Disappointing for $12. My husband picked up his tacos and they made a little fell through because they were so wet. But he said the flavor was amazing and he ate his tacos with a fork and knife. His were $12 too. We had to get our own water. The atmosphere was clean and open. The music was blaring so loud. I had to use Shazam just to find out what song it was. It made me want to hurry up and get out of there all at all, it's too bad the food was delicious but the service was not . My first trip to Akron and wow was I impressed with this Cafe! After a day of hiking in Cuyahoga Valley National Park, we headed over to this cute spot for brunch. The cafe is located above the market. The market itself is a health grocer, lots of bulk grains and seeds, vegan items, the works. The cafe also has a full menu, fit for vegans or omnivores alike! And to make the brunch even more complete, booze (: I tried the loaded vegan fries which were OUTSTANDING. They were topped with coconut bacon which I've never tried; it was crunchy and flavorful. Not exactly bacon but a great umami flavor for the fries. The vegan cheese was also great, and i'm pretty sure there always a curry powder flavor as well? Again, these fries were iconic. Big recommendation even to non vegans. My main was a vegan burrito. It had vegan cheddar, tempeh, spinach, and was a special price at $8! A hearty yummy brunch. I also had a drink special: a spicy bloody mary for $5. Friends has a very flavorful mezcal paloma, and another got a prickly pear marg. Both exceptional. We came here on a Friday night during Lent to check out their gluten-free fish fry. The cafe is on the second floor of the Mustard Seed market and is accessible via stairs and an elevator. The inside is surprisingly large with a full scale bar and small stage for live music and other performers. You can order at the counter or you can sit at the bar. Great ambiance that's suitable for all ages, the menu has lots of options fit to suit all sorts of diets including vegan, vegetarian and gluten-free. My daughter ordered a cola and the classic cheeseburger with chips. I got the strawberry lemonade made with real strawberries and the fish and chips served with fresh cut fries and coleslaw. The fish was a large crispy portion. I couldn't finish it all. We both enjoyed our meals and agreed that we would come back ti try other options. Parking here is limited - we had to find a spot on the street. Prices are average. Both meals and drinks cost us about $50. Servers were attentive and friendly. Mustard Seed is a longtime favorite of healthy eaters in Akron. It's been there a long time and has several locations. This is still the best of these. It's the first. They have the market on the first floor and the cafe upstairs. Inside the first section is the produce. Everything here looks really fresh. The middle of the floor is filled with aisles of various healthy and organic stuff. Around the outside are a few counters. There's a place to get pizza. After the checkout lanes there's the stairs to get to the cafe. This place is a health orgasm. Almost everything is undeniably healthy. They never use artificial ingredients or any preservatives. A lot of items are vegan friendly. The avocado BLT was mentioned here. It's my favorite. They also have breakfast items and soups. It stays open until about midnight. They also have a bar area so you can get drunk and eat healthy at the same time. It can get really busy. It shares a parking lot. They also have live music events usually on weekends. read more

This is a go to spot for me for meeting friends for dinner or drinks, or just generally going to dinner with the family. I enjoy that you order at then counter and then sit down. It's easier with small children paying up front so if they lose it you can just leave when you're done eating. They have a pretty large food and drink menu, lots of vegan, gluten free and other healthy substitute options. You can even buy food from the grocery downstairs and bring it up to the restaurant to sit down and eat. Indoor and outdoor seating offered. The rooftop patio is really nicely done. Yay! A local health food location that serves food, a wide variety of health supplements and personal care items. I even got goji juice supplement for a great price! It's a place that has a nice atmosphere and design. Their seasonal decorations are a nice touch. For the Fall, it created a warm and cozy environment. The music pumped into the dining area and the patio is very "feel good". The bartenders are wildly good-looking and the food is fresh and delicious. I like to try the daily specials and have never been disappointed. Your first visit, you can expect to not really know the drill. This is partially self-serve. You do not have to purchase anything to just drop in and enjoy the ambiance. But if you do, you order and pay for your food and drink at the register, they give you a tabletop number, you grab your silverware packet, and go find a place to sit. If you want a glass of water, you go to the far end of the bar where there is Reverse Osmosis water and ice dispenser with a bevy of glasses. Help your self! You can also walk up to the bar and order a cocktail, wine, or beer at any time. Or you can opt to sit at the bar and open a tab. This really is a relaxing place to just go hang out and meet new people or just sit quietly and enjoy being alive. When available and the weather is right, the patio is a birds nest view of bustling neighborhood. During my Ohio stay, I decided to give this place a try! I have only heard about this place but have not tried it before when I was here. I got Ohio burger (&11) which comes with a choice of side. Mustard Seed Cafe has the most wonderful cafe above the grocery store. You'll park around back or behind Chipotle for additional parking and go up the stairs/elevator to a gorgeous cafe. There is an inside portion and an outside portion that gives roof top vibes. The brunch was incredible as well as their lunch menu provides so many options. My personal favorite are their cocktails and juices that are inexpensive and so delicious. It's also incredibly vegan and vegetarian friendly! You order at the counter, and they'll bring your food right to you. I ordered the chicken and waffles and a bloody mary at my most recent visit!
