Nice looking and cheaply priced clothing. Disposable fashion comparable to Forever 21 and Primark. It'll probably fall apart in 4-6 months but you buy it to look good in the moment and it gives you an excuse to go shopping again later when it comes undone/rips/whatever. Not to say all the products are like that but the ones under $25 generally are. This is a great place for high school or college students or anybody who is on a budget but wants to look good. The men's section is actually bigger than that of a lot of other competitors, that's a bonus star for me. I just wish more places like H&M were the norm. read more

They seem to be renovating, and the place is a mess. It's also extremely dimly lit, even in the fitting rooms I felt l could barely see what I was wearing. One of the staff members in the fitting rooms was also unpleasant, she kept ordering me around and telling me to put clothes on hangers and move things here and there - maybe I have the word "doormat" stamped on my forehead, but hey, I'm not being paid to do your job!! The clothes don't seem to be organized either, unlike the other H&M stores I've been to. So you have to explore the entire store before you can find items you need, and not just head to one area and find the stuff arranged there. This one seems bigger than the one downtown near Macy's, but I will avoid shopping here again and go to the smaller one. At least I can SEE things there and the staff doesn't make me do their job. I love H&M. I love the underwear. I love the socks. I can always find a shirt that quickly becomes my new favorite. Haven't really ever found pants I love in there, but I don't really look for them (and I'm a shorty, so buying pants anywhere is traumatic anyway). The one downfall is this store is always so freaking crowded. Also, you get what you pay for, don't expect it to last forever and a day. read more

Stopped in here last week and was able to find a really cool and comfortable black tank top with metal studs for just $13 and a pair of shorts for $10, I think. Finally, something that fits! Make more clothes that fit more bodies than your 12-year old models and I'll shop more often. read more

Amongst H&Ms this store gets 5 stars. I continue to be surprised by the design and quality of their higher-end collection, which is displayed upstairs in front of the cash registers. Much of it is trying to be too runway to be wearable in Boston (like the structured shoulder stuff), but there are some pieces here and there that are well done and fairly priced. An H&M size 2 is for some reason smaller than a 00 petite at most other stores, but I am not complaining. No doubt DTC has the better selection and stock. But they do not have the nicer line. Also I do not enjoy trekking through pigeon waste to get there. read more

Just your standard H&M - 2 stories with a Men's section downstairs and a Home section upstairs. The women's section is split between the two floors. The checkout can be either super fast or somewhat slow depending on your cashier, but they're usually pretty good about having the registers open both upstairs and downstairs. Their sale section upstairs is a bit of a mess, but the rest of the store is kept fairly organized. There's also two entrances (facing either Boylston or Newbury), which confused me the first time and I couldn't decide which way to go out. read more

I tried this sweater on not noticing a hole in the shoulder. I rocked my new sweater to work the next day not noticing until someone told me there was a quarter size hole. I went around the corner to the store on my lunch break hoping to exchange it. The store manager told me there is nothing she can do. I proceeded to call the customer service line with again no hope to exchange my sweater. So now I have to send in photos in order to get a store credit mailed to my house. So after all of these hoops I will never be spending my money here again. read more

I love H&M for being cheap and for their fit. Their clothing tend to fit me better than some of the high end clothing brands. People have told me that their quality is bad, but so far all of my H&M purchases are holding up very well. Plus, I have gotten many compliments on my H&M items. read more

The 4 stars is not so much for H&M Stores in general, but for this H&M store compared to the others I've been in. Considering its right on Newbury in the midst of tourists and day-shoppers alike, its always fairly well organized in terms of the same items actually being kept mostly together and having a bunch of sizes. So if you specifically want to shop at H&M, this one is pretty good bet for maintaining your sanity. More in general, H&M is what you make of it! It's not really one of those places you can go expecting quality...it is somewhere you go for reasonably priced, current fashions so you don't feel so guilty wearing the clothes only two months or for the occasional night out. H&M has provided me with many a good party top - Beer spilled on me? No problem - I got this lil number for 15 bucks! The occasional decent work accessory too. I hate the dressing rooms, the crowdedness and the craziness of just finding things in H&M, but you can't beat the prices! It's just such a great place to go to to round out your wardrobe. If you need a couple of basic tanks, this is cheap and you can get them in every color. If you need a couple new sweaters, just grab a few here. I like this location because it's easy to maneuver and find things better than others. I feel like I can actually find things here, which makes shopping way easier! read more

My first H&M experience was at the Downtown Crossing location, and I thought the store to be a perverted socialist dream. Where else do you see grannies clutching Chanel handbags and YSL coats shopping at the same clothing store as indie grad students and punked-out starving artists? But at the Newbury location, there are no perverted socialist dreams to be had. The selection is streamlined towards whatever's mainstream trendy at the moment, to the point of exaggeration, at least in women's clothing. I'm not feeling the current 80's shapes and jewel tones vibe, which means I won't expect to find anything in this store for rest of the season. The prices on the downstairs women's clothes have also spiked recently, sometimes by as much a double. I'm starting to think that this is a good thing; it makes me more conscientious of what i buy. A $20 price tag might caused me to consider a mustard yellow puffy sleeve turtle neck back in the day, but a $40 tag reminds that mustard is so not my color, not matter how many catwalks it's been down. Thanks for helping me save, H&M. I do like the Men's department, which is more of mainstay and doesn't fluctuate much with trends. I've gotten the boy some cute basics here. I'm always hoping the cashier line's in Men's will be shorter too, but they never are. The Newbury staff tends to be very holier-than-thou, which always a surprise at store whose clothes' seams fall out in two month's time. read more

This H&M was very messy. It's Christmas season but still, it was complete chaos. I don't understand why the store is so messy. I just got back from Munich and the H&M there is immaculate. So clean and organized,soot go from that to this is like night and day. Maybe they should hire more help. They could also tell their employees to greet their customers, and ask them if they need any help with anything. The prices of the clothes are high enough that it would just be courteous to greet the customer. read more

I will preface my review by saying that I only interacted with one store associate - the rest could be perfectly lovely people. However, the one I had the misfortune of encountering at the cash register was incredibly rude. When I get to the front of the line, I hand over my items and say hi. He doesn't say anything, and just takes the items without maing eye contact. Still no eye contact when taking my credit card. Oh, and he also slammed the credit card slip and pen on to the counter in front of me. Completely ruined my glee at scoring the cute sweater with cat faces on it for a really cheap price read more

I usually love H&M for cheap clothes and a lot of variety but customer service negates all of it. The lady in the fitting room was hostile to my friends and me several different times. The one that made me leave was when I asked her if she could get a different size for me and she told me to get it myself. After that, it ruined my mood and I refused to look any further for clothes. read more

I called the 800 number to inquiry about a childrens piece of clothing to check and see if this location had anything in stock before I went there, i was on hold for 30 min- bounced from caller to caller starting new each time- and finally when i was transferred to this store location i was told they don't go by article numbers- please describe the item and how much it was- and then was told it was going to be a while they would check- 45 minutes later come to find out they didn't have anything in the size i was looking for. i wish i could give 0 stars read more

They have a great selection here, you can get great bargains, I've bought plenty of clothes here for under $10, the only thing I don't like here is the service, the people at the checking out counter are usually pretty nice but for the people through out the store not so much, especially the people working the fitting rooms, they seem like they hate their life. read more

I am writing to let you all know about the awful experience I just had today Newbury Street location in Boston. I work next door and shop at this location frequently. The sales staff are very lazy and indignant most of the time. But I am fuming over one individual who acted very inappropriately towards me. I was in the men's dressing room downstairs and one of the clothes-check girls opened the door on me while I was half-dressed to let a guy in. She didn't close the door, I had to reach out and do it myself. Then she laughed loudly. I stormed out, blood-boiling and asked her why she did that. Her excuse was that I didn't let her know I was in there. SERIOUSLY? She had neglected to put the numbered tag on the outside of the door when she let me in, and didn't knock before opening it for another customer. I told her that she laughed at me and it was insulting, and to do her job properly (expletives expletives expletives). I stormed off and told her manager, who went to speak with her. I was angry and left the store. I didn't get her name, but the manager on duty is aware of what happened. She was very apologetic. There were two girls working in the dressing room and this one was short with black hair. I am really, REALLY angry. The last thing I want to do is go back and have to see this girl. She was incredibly rude and disrespectful. Do not go to this location unless you want to get treated like dirt. read more

While this is a great place to snag some cheap & chic finds, be warned: I am normally a size 0-2 in pants, and at H&M I could barely squeeze into a size 6. I immediately went home and tried on my size 00 jeans and they fit exactly the same as always. Definitely try items on before making a purchase, as the sizing is severely skewed. read more

I have two rather bizarre H & M stories to tell. I stopped in after work a few weeks ago and I wound up with a ton of clothing to try on. Hooray for me. I proceeded to stand in front of the fitting room with no one else it line. It was approximately 7:30 PM. The male fitting room attendant adorned with blue hair and black eyeliner walked up to me. "Umm you can't try anything on anymore, we are closed." I said "but the store doesn't close until 8." He sighed very heavily, "You can't try anything on." I said are you serious? He looked at me like I had 3 heads. I proceeded to dump maybe 12 items of clothing on a table outside the fitting room and left the premises. I understand the store is very crowded and the employees don't want to stay late, but that was awful awful awful customer service. I've NEVER heard of this in any other store. Someone told me that their employees are crappy because they have a ton of work with no commission. Then why do people even work there? The prestige? The discount? The only reason I give it two stars is because you can get decent stuff cheap. My second story is from back in college. I wanted a part time job when the Braintree H & M first opened. This was before I had any clue that employees were required to have a terrible attitude. My interview was at the Braintree Sheraton Hotel inside a conference room. It was a group interview where we had to do all these weird psychological tasks. Like a group of inteviewies had to build a Lego castle while these weird Swedish people with clip boards took notes and blew whistles instructing us to do different things to the castle as a group. THIS WAS ALL TO WORK AS A CASHIER AT H & M. I tell people this story and they don't even believe me. Needless to say, the college educated, excellent employee that was me did not get a job at H & M. My relationship with the store has been strained ever since. PS- why do I need to wear pants that are 2 sizes larger than my usual and have the waist taken it? Their things aren't designed with any curves at all. read more

They display such great customer service, especially when i went there to return a shirt.They were very pleasant with helping me solve my problem. I bought a pair of jeans that were a bit too tight but thought they'd still work. I tried them on once when I got home and decided they were too tight for comfort. I went to return them a few days past the 30 day return policy, in order to receive merchandise credit. I was told they look like they've been worn so they couldn't take them back. I 100% NEVER wore them after trying them on that one time. They are distressed jeans, I will add, and clearly look that way naturally. I work in retail and would never treat a customer like this. I have received items obviously worn and still accepted them, even though in this instance I absolutely did not wear them. They essentially accused me of lying. I understand h&m is not a top brand store by any means, but they should really work on their customer service or at least understand their brand better. The jeans were crappy to begin with so don't expect them to look nicer than the way they were when I bought them. read more

MY Boyfriend gave my his credit card to go shopping and buy myself a birthday gift, I grabbed a few items in the store and was told at the register that since we did not have the same last name I could not use his card, and ended up paying for y own gift. Not to mention the cashier working had piss poor attitude and no manners. Seems to me they only care about when their next break is or when their shift is over. Half of the employees look miserable like someone had killed their dog, and the other half look like they just woke up, rolled out of bed, and came to work. Def need to have corporate come in and reassess who they hire and how it affects their store. The racks were also unorganized, and a mess. The only ones that looks half decent were the ones right by the windows, everything else was a nightmare, you couldn't even look through them because they were so stuffed and crowded, when you pull something off the rack 4 other items come with it.
