I called Molly Maid to deep clean the house the house before our newborn arrived. I requested the…read moretwo girls that arrived to clean everything, from floor to walls, if you can see it clean it. They assured me that everything would be cleaned. Our newborn had arrived early so when the cleaners arrived we packed up and went to a relatives house for the cleaning. We came home 3.5 hours later, paid the maids, and gave them a pretty decent tip, which was 20%. My wife and I had been slacking due to her pregnancy/taking care of our other child, so I though I would treat us to a whole house cleaning. First impression was they did they a great job; the floors were clean, but that's about it. Whatever they used to clean the walls left streaks, that even a week later will not go away despite being wiped multiple times. The streaks that were left led me to believe the walls were not entirely wiped down, but rather spot cleaned. They left dishes in the sink; which I was told would be washed, so I know my sink wasn't cleaned. My trim work/some of my closet doors were sticky to the touch, as if they didnt dilute the cleaner properly. They cleaned the glass of the windows, but the casings/frames were still dusty and dirty. I have floating shelves in my living room, and you could see the line of dust where they wiped, because they didn't remove things from the shelf to clean the whole thing. I'm not one to leave a bad review about a company, but their reviews were why I chose them, and it wasn't cheap at all. I wasn't even going to leave a review, just cut my losses and call it a day, but someone from their office contacted me about a week after the cleaning in regards to an email survey I left a one star review on and reignited all of my concerns. I don't know if my definition of deep clean is different from theirs, and I might be being critical about the cleaning, but for the money I spent, my wife and I were very disappointed. It should be noted I neither requested a refund, or was offered one. The pictures I've attached are only some of the problems, getting the angle to show the streaks on the walls was tricky, and some of the problems (ie dirty dishes, dirty ceiling fans) had already being cleaned by myself post cleaning.

They always communicate their cleaning schedules ahead of time and have never missed a session. The owner, Brett, has been very accommodating for our unpredictable schedules and his team has especially great throughout Covid. They are always masked when they enter our home. I am very pleased with the level of cleanliness and attention to detail. Marli is very responsive to text and can fit me in her schedule within a few days notice. Marli did an initial walk through of my home to get an estimate of what needed to be cleaned. She quoted me a price that was very fair and representative of my space. I have used her team multiple times and will continue to tell all my fiends how pleased I am! It takes me all day to do what her team does in an hour or two. Two weeks after my service, I received a text message from Marli asking for me to pay her. I thought it was a mistake as I already did pay for a cleaning service I had two weeks ago immediately after the completion of the service. I had confirmed with the 3 cleaners that day that the amount I paid was the correct amount and also gave them a generous tip on top of the price of the service. On Venmo, the cleaners liked my payment and thanked me. I adhered to what I thought was my end of the bargain. Marli proceeds to tell me that the price is per cleaner per hour which is not what was originally communicated to me on the phone. The whole conversation was very odd and confusing considering it was two weeks after the service and I thought I already paid generously based on what original price that was communicated. The rest of the conversation was unprofessional with her accusing me of things I never said, such as that I told the cleaners I was going to Venmo her directly the additional amount owed. I never said that and I was just trying to understand what the heck was going on and not feel like I was being taken advantage of or being confused with another customer. She also made a comment about her workers needing the money more than I did which I thought was completely out of line. If you use Marli's cleaning service, I highly recommend you get it in writing how much is being quoted so there in no question what's being charged and no wildly unprofessional accusations. It seems like they do work under the radar on weekends and try not to keep any paper trails of transactions. It was all very shady. It wasn't about the money as I went on to Venmo the additional amount Marli claimed I owed. What upset me was how I was treated and the accusations made. I will be setting up frequent cleanings going forward but just not with this company.

Let me summarize my experience with this cleaning service. "LACK OF COMMON SENSE" and "UNBELIEVABLY…read moreBAD". I don't know where you find these cleaners from, they really need basic training on everything. Here are some examples: -Running the dish washer with no soap in it. Yep, my dishes were still dirty and wet. How do you not know how to use a dish washer? We've also found random objects like pens inside the dish washer (she would put pens together with the forks and spoons). Why do you have to wash pens? -Sometimes the cleaner does not clean the toilet. Hello? We only have one toilet and it is not even that dirty (we clean it ourselves on a weekly basis.) But the cleaner just refuses to clean the toilet. Why are paying and tipping you then? -We have a knife holder to hold our clean kitchen knives. One cleaner put dirty dinner knives into the knife holder. How am I supposed to clean the knife holder? Why would you stick dinner knives into a knife holder made for big kitchen knives? -Throwing away all the dogs things. We were dog sitting, the dog owner brought a few bags of things for the dog- toys, collar, leash, pee pads etc. Guess what, the cleaner threw away everything. The poor dog had no toys, no leash (could not go for walks), no pee pads. I had to go and buy these things myself and had a very hard conversation with the dog owner. Have these cleaners never seen a dog before? Why would you throw away things for a dog? I assume some of these cleaners are in such a rush to get their work done, they throw out anything they see without looking and thinking. -We are paying you to clean and bring your own supplies. We've seen the maids use our cleaning supplies, and in a wasteful manner. One used half a bottle of toilet cleaner that we bought, to clean one toilet bowl. You are supposed to use approximately 4oz of Lysol toilet cleaner per toilet bowl, not half a bottle at a time. -We are usually not home, so one of the cleaners assumed she could do whatever she wanted. Well, I happened to be home one time. The cleaner was supposed to come at 12pm.. she didn't show up till 3pm. And she was absolutely shocked to see me at home. I guess she is not used to having home owners stay at home when she cleans? She must have been so uncomfortable that she locked herself inside my tiny bathroom for 45 min and spent the whole time talking to her friend on the phone. My bathroom is small, it does not take 45 min to clean. Also, we don't pay you to talk to your friend for 45 min in our bathroom, and I could not pee during that whole time!] Everytime I come home after one of the cleaners cleans my house, I discover new things. Like pens in the dishwasher. Or I find all the dog's belongings have been throw in the trash! Check Maid services will sure bring you never ending surprises, like really bad surprises.

I am baffled by the five-star reviews on here. I went through and the majority of them are people…read morewith only 1 review, so I am thinking they are fake reviews to trick the Yelp community into thinking this place is legit when it really isn't. It all started when I decided that I wanted a 1 time deep spring cleaning of my apartment after this brutal Boston winter. Check Maid had good reviews on Yelp and seemed easy enough to book so I gave it a whirl. I made an appointment for today at 10:30. Unfortunately, the cleaners showed up at 11:45 with not so much as a phone call or an email to let me know they were behind schedule. So I was just sitting on my couch for an hour and 45 minutes having errands that needed to be run without knowing when they would show up. I had no way of contacting them directly, so I had to call through to the Check Maid call center. After calling several times and being on hold for 5 minutes each time, I finally got through to Sheila who promised the cleaners would be there by 11:30, which clearly did not happen. Eventually, the cleaners did show up. These two women were among the rudest people I have ever met. They did not apologize for being late nor did they smile or try to ask about what I wanted to be done. They did, however, look me straight in the eye and say "Give me water." It caught me off guard and was super weird. I paid for 4 hours of cleaning and went off to run my errands. I came back 2 hours later and the cleaners were gone. All of my lights had been left on and they bizarrely opened my window screens which is a real nice way to let all the bugs in. The coffee table clearly hadn't been wiped down; they hadn't moved any furniture to clean under or next to it (the baseboard was cleaned up until it reached my EXTREMELY LIGHT couch); and my microwave was not cleaned as promised. There were dust bunnies all over the floor which leads me to believe they didn't vacuum a thing. Given that they left a minimum of 2 hours early, there is no excuse for this. Worst of all, they used up half of my paper towels and all of my dish soap (WHY ARE THEY EVEN USING DISH SOAP?!) when the website said they would bring their own materials. They even filled my dish soap with water to make it look like they didn't use it. This place is a scam and I urge you to look elsewhere.

Since I was hosting an event at my house the next day, I told her I absolutely couldn't reschedule, and to her credit she said, "OK, this is not your problem...I will find someone to clean your house." The housekeeper showed up on time...a very nice young man, wearing dress clothes (?). He immediately told me this was his first time doing this. I have a 900 square-foot condo and he spent an hour in my 12x12 bedroom. When I went in to check it out, the floor had wet mop lint all over it, the window was filmy, and nothing was put back where it had been, including furniture that he had moved. The floors looked dull, so I asked him to use my wood floor cleaner instead. (I think he used Simple Green on everything. I hate that stuff...sticky sticky!) He proceeded to the second bedroom, where I had a bunch of stuff stored. I told him he didn't need to move any of the stuff, just clean around it. He moved all of the stuff. AND, he didn't put anything back where it belonged. He then moved to the kitchen. I don't know what he did in there, but it did look fairly clean with the exception of the counters, which were filmy. Again, he didn't put anything back where it belonged. After the kitchen was the bathroom, then after 3 hours total, he told me he was done. I looked at the living room and asked him if he cleaned it and he said yes. It was hard to tell, because everything from my kitchen (trash can, recycling bin, stools, cat dishes, etc.) as well as everything he used to clean was in the living room. He said "the lady" told him to only spend two hours but he spent three because he wanted to do a good job. Bless his heart. I was so anxious to get him out of there that I didn't check anything else. Turns out he didn't touch a thing in the living room. And every object he moved to clean was left somewhere else. I was so disgusted that I spent the next two hours re-cleaning my entire condo. I called to complain, and Erin very sweetly offered to send out another housekeeper on another date. Since my event was the next day, that didn't help me much. She said that Urban Spoon couldn't refund my money since I paid Eversave, and that I should contact them for a refund. WAY too much trouble to get my $35 back. My other option was to schedule another cleaning in the future at no cost. She didn't give me any formal confirmation of this, just "her word." This company cannot clean their way out of a paper bag, and I will not be using them again.

But I cannot . . . I booked an appointment for the middle of April. I understand they oversold their groupons, so I tried to be as flexible as possible and worked with them to find a possible time. I arranged my schedule, so I can be home to let the housekeeper in (not that easy a task). I do this, because I want someone to come before I have company this weekend. I get a call a few days before . . . a matter-of-fact attitude stating that my appointment was changed to JUNE 15TH. That's right, two months from now. No, Urban Spoon. You will not come on June 15th. I don't even know what my cleaning needs will be then, so I have no idea how you think you do. I want my house clean before my company comes, NOW, not when I'm pretty sure I'll be on vacation. Had I known, I would of scheduled someone else. After my FIFTH attempt of calling them (no call back - even a call directly to the gentleman writing below soliciting my comments) - I got through. The representative was very kind and apologetic and promised to re-book the next day (with complimentary ceiling fan and floor board cleaning as an apology). I don't have fans, but fine. This will get the job done before my company comes. So I was going to overlook this whole June 15th business . .. I cancel a meeting, TAKE TIME OFF WORK and go home to meet the housekeeper and . . . nothing. No one comes. I call - get through! - and am told - no, your appointment is in June. I said - no, it was re-booked YESTERDAY. Again, the representative was very apologetic and said he would get someone there as soon as possible. But no one comes. No one calls to apologize. Nothing. And now, my company is here. Awesome.
