I really like this location. It has a high end feel but reasonable H&M prices. I bought a cardigan and 2 tops for $40! It is nice and bright with good lighting. The displays are well spaced. This I believe: everybody has (cue ominous music) That Store where for some reason, every item tried on just looks bad. The bargains here have driven me to the dressing room many times holding different styles in different sizes in different seasons. I'm always hopeful, but to no avail. H&M clothes just don't fit right on me. It's That Store. Personal issue aside, I'm not a fan of the sheer massiveness of the collection. Judging by what makes it onto the floor, it seems like H&M designers prioritize quantity over quality. They'd rather produce a larger group of items, some of which are junk, than restrict production to a small group of items, none of which are junk. I think Express is an example of the latter strategy. Sometimes H&M really pulls off its 'mission' - mass-produced, cheap items that successfully imitate designer ones. But many times, H&M falls short with cheap looking or ugly fabrics and odd cuts. read more

So I guess this location is H&M Philly's "grown-up" store? You won't find anything from the "Divided" line here - this is the location where you can find a pretty big selection of their business, classic, and trendy pieces. When H&M is on, it's on. This fall, they've got a lot beautiful pieces - and my wallet is certainly feeling it. But often they will go through seasons where everything is godawful. It's always a gamble. I Love, with a capital L, Love this H & M. It's considered the more "adult" store in Philadelphia, compared to the one on Chestnut. They carry more sizes and the clothes tend to be more upscale, business-appropriate. Hallelujah! I went to the Chestnut location first when I moved here, and I was sooo so disappointed. Just by chance I mentioned this to a friend and they said, "Why don't you check out the one on Walnut?" Say what?! Two H & Ms within a 2 block radius? My experience here has always been great: not too crowded, helpful employees (albeit chatty with their other co-workers), and awesome selection. read more

This was the first H & M that I ever went to in my life and it was love at first sight. I had heard about H & M, but we do not have any locations in my home state of NC. Upon moving to Philly last year, I sought H & M for some stylish clothes that I could wear to my internship site. I needed to look professional, but I also wanted to be fashionable. Also, I'm in graduate school and totally poor. I had been told that H & M would be a good fit for my budget. This location is definitely classier than the other Philly location on Chestnut St. Perhaps it is the proximity to Rittenhouse Square? I've been rather happy with my selections and would say that this is the location that I head to whenever I am embracing my coming of age and need for cute professional clothes. read more

If I could give them 10 stars trust me I would. Coming from a disastrous experience from another H&M nearby I was fed up with even continuing to search for a date night dress. I walked in with a bad attitude only to be greeted by a wonderful employee named Latonya who changed my entire aura. She not only pointed me in the direction of my searches, but she also helped me search. Then I was leaded up stairs to even more fabulous employees who also continued to help me. This H&M not treated me as a welcoming customer but they treated me as a friend; I told them what I needed and they provided that plus more. They decked me out in an entire outfit for my date on Friday and then provided information with how I can wear it in other occasions. I will continue to shop here for any future outfits I may need. Bought a top just before my vacation- wore it maybe 3 times and washed it twice and saw that it was a mass of "pills" all across the front. Washed in 1 more time as a courtesy to the store before I brought it in to show them. Still had receipt showing I had the top barely 1.5 months. They were not pleasant and didn't want to return it because I had worn and washed it. I had to emphasize that I was not bringing back because I decided I didn't like the color- it was damaged/poor quality. The "alleged" manager came over and reluctantly said, "Ok we'll return it."- certainly nothing like "sorry you had a problem with it." I was told I could only have store credit because it was over 30 days. I really wanted the big $9 back on my card so I didn't ever have to buy more merchandise given the poor quality. Not the employees' fault the merchandise was poor, but the treatment I got was as from from friendly as you could get, and that's on those two employees. Poor attitudes, customer (dis)service. I was forced to give 1 star to post- deserves NONE. read more

I'm not quite sure why, all H&M locations are such a haute mess with lines (dressing room/cash register) this store is no different, but it is very spacious, pretty clean and better organized then the rest. Too bad I spend more time waiting to check out then actual shopping. Half of the time, I give up and put my stuff back and leave. I like that this store has a children's section. The location is great, but I find it hard to naviagate among the tight aisles and the racks are often times overfilled, but not all the sizes are out. If you can't find your size in something, good luck trying to get ahold of someone to look for you. I must say that the employees are very nice WHEN you actually come across one. I love that store! The best selection of cloths! I shop there ones a week roughly and always find what I need! I don't have big expectations about this store though. This store has a big location, which seems odd because there's another large H&M just a few minutes walk away but this one seems to have a better crowd and employees. They have a ton of cute, cheap clothes and accessories and the store is always fairly clean. So why only 3 stars? THE LINES! You'll stand and wait in a giant line for twenty minutes which to me is enough to say "forget it and order it online". read more

Definitely the grown-up version of the store on Chestnut. Come here if you want a bigger selection of H&M underwear as well because Chestnut doesn't have too much. This location seems a bit quieter and the dressing rooms are pretty accessible without too long of a line. As all H&M sizes go, definitely bring the larger size with you to the fitting room or ask the staff to help you out. The sweaters seem to run big on me but the truth kicks in when I wash the top :( If you need classy items (girls only) in a hurry for partying and what not without the huge price tag, definitely stop by. read more

I found it curious that there are two H&M locations in Philly, and that they're close to each other. But it became apparent that this is the more mature H&M. If you're looking for a more distinguished look or need some business clothes, this is the location you want as it has a better selection of those items. The other clearly caters to a younger, very casual crowd. And because of this it's also less crowded, which is what this cranky old-at-heart shopper was looking for. read more

I do not frequently, if ever, give bad reviews on anything unless I am passionate about it. I love H&M, I frequently buy online, but on a few occasions at the King of Prussia location, but I now work in the city, and am extremely close to this location. About a week and a half ago on my lunch break I went in (with friends) looking specifically for knee-high socks. I perused through the store, and found essentially what I was looking for, not the exact style, but hey, they were close enough. The socks were 9.99, and I always look for deals, they were cheap enough, but I figured I am a (returning) student and I recently decided to start utilizing my student discounts. I approached the counter and there was no line, and before I purchased, I wanted to inquire about if they have a student discount. I went up to the associate (mind you I have been unable to locate one in the store prior to this besides at the counter), and I asked if they happened to have a student discount. She did not even take the 2 seconds to look up at me before replying snidely No, and she was with a customer (no one at the counter, no one on the phone). I put the socks back and walked out on principle. I am intending on purchasing your product, I am being polite in my inquiry, and I am asking a very simple question, but instead of giving me a simply, polite answer, she acted as if helping a customer, ME, was inconvenient, and as though my inquiry was completely outlandish. Having worked in retail myself, I can understand the frustration, the hustle, and bustle, and getting the same question repeated to you numerous times in a short amount of time; however, it is your job. You are a store associate, and as such you represent your company, you represent your brand, and you are a liaison to customers, as well as customer service. I couldn't believe the taste it put in my mouth. Not to say that one person ruins a brand or a company, but one person can ruin a store location, and can prevent customers from frequenting that specific store. End all be all: love H&M clothing and stores, and I will continue to show with them; however, I may never return to this location. read more

This is my favorite H & M! I've gone to the one in Las Vegas, and the one in San Francisco, and hardly ever find anything I like. This one, is the one for me! They have great cozy sweaters in classic styles that go with everything, AND they're machine washable, AND only run around $20. I've also bought some of my favorite earrings here, and they were also a steal at $5.95. Some of the clothing isn't for me, but there is plenty that is, and it keeps me coming back! I also bought a fantastic red wool coat 2 years ago that everyone loves. They must have a different selection here than they do the others. I have to walk down to this store every time I come to Philly. I love it! I can walk out with 2 huge bags for $200 or so! read more

The second H&M store to open in Philadelphia, this store is located just a few blocks away from the Chestnut Street store. One would think they would offer the same clothes at each store, but the Walnut store location is geared towards the younger working fashion conscious set--instead of hooded sweatshirts, there are sweaters. Dress shirts and ties instead of graphic tees. Granted, you can still find a decent amount of cross-over from the Chestnut store, but think of this H&M as the more upscale version, keeping pace with the rest of the stores on Walnut Street. This is a good place to get decent clothes for looking sharp without spending a ton of money. Looking good isn't cheap, but H&M offers a decent alternative to well-designed clothes at affordable prices. With that being said, the quality isn't top notch but good enough to get a good number of wears out of most of the clothes you will buy there. read more

I am in this store 5-6 times a week. i buy something 70% of the time. I still cant get over the big lurking security guard. everytime i walk in he stares me down and completly ignores the band of loud, annoying, foolish, teenagers that just ran past him. i really am put off by him and now i wont even go in there if i see this guy. i dont get it!!! what store allows the security to motor the customers who KEEP COMING BACK!!!! this guy has some seriously bad judge of character or is just one of those creepy types....sigh... read more

Wonderful location, and not the messiest of the H&M locations I've seen. I find it to be quite disorganized though, and it is almost impossible to shop through the accessories section when the store is the slightest bit crowded because the line for the registers blocks the way. Otherwise, I'm glad to see the lingerie section, and the store is large enough to carry a pretty good selection of the merchandise! read more

When I first arrived in Center City and discovered that not one but TWO H&M's existed within a 5 block radius, I thought to myself "Huh...how does this make sense?" Now there is a very, very clear distinction between the two locations and this one on Walnut is tailored towards their more mature, adult clientele. Here you'll more easily find professional attire (I actually like their blazers - more so when they're on sale but that doesn't happen too often), styles and colors/patterns that are a little more classic, and more importantly their children's collection is located on the top floor. Its a much smaller space than the Chestnut location, but then again they aren't dealing with massive hoards of teenagers who consider wandering around H&M a way to hang out. read more

There is always someone to help you, and if your not satisfied with your garments you can def. get cash back with a receipt or without your receipt you can get store credit!! This particular H&M is somewhat smaller than the one on Chestnut Street, but it works if you're on a shopping spree and strolling down Walnut and don't feel like crossing over to Chestnut to get to the other location. As a slender fellow, H&M is one of the few stores that I can shop in. This one is alright, but lacks some selection in the men's dept.

Workers here are so rude. There was no one downstairs at cash register so after waiting awhile I went upstairs to pay for my stuff and then after waiting up there I was told that I had to go downstairs (even though other people had just been paying up there 10 minutes earlier). Every time I've attempted to purchase something here (maybe the other locations are better-this is the only one I've seen), I'm sorry I even walked in the door in the first place. Weekdays are slightly less chaotic than weekends, but not by much. The second floor is always a borderline madhouse, clothes are strewn about in no particular order, and what is organized on the racks usually looks picked through by a pack of fashion-conscious raccoons. In spite of all this, I've actually managed to find a few decent items--that must be why I've returned, because I forget the unpleasantness of the whole experience--but the final hurdle is (1) finding a register manned by a human, (2) finding a register manned by a human who isn't moving in slow-motion, (3) finding 1 & 2 without a line of less than at least 10 customers. It seems that people are afraid to come to this location alone, as well, so for every person in line actually buying something, there are an additional two or three friends along for the ride, making a long line seem even longer. I can't wait for the day when we'll be able to virtually try on clothes online-the seemingly one aspect of buying clothing online that hasn't yet been perfected-to avoid scenarios like the ones I've described. read more

I come in here at my lunch break, pick something out, then "shocker" there's 10-15 people in line and only 1 or 2 cashiers so I put it back on the rack. Every time. really? in CC open til 8pm.. which means when I'm bored after work and have nothing better to do than shop before bar hopping you are there.. with an opening past the normal 6 and 7pm close times most CC stores have.. I love how open the store is and there are a plenty of dressing rooms.. even though the lines are absurd and the staff bites compared to the one a few blocks over.. you are there for me when I need to buy a sweatshirt for no reason at all or I need something to wear that night because I refuse to travel all the way back to my house... and for that I adore you.. read more

Always a 10 minute wait to check out. There are 3 registers on the first floor but only 1 or 2 cashiers. Sometimes I wait 20 minutes but I usually put my stuff down and leave. Great prices though. Materials are cheap. read more

I prefer this location to the one on Chestnut. Not as crowded and I feel as though it carries more of the adult line attire. However, if you get the chance to cross the bridge, the H & M in the Cherry Hill mall is the best. Anway, when you walk in (as of 1 week ago) the business styled clothes (ie..pencil skirts, cardigans, black taylored pants) were located to the left while the summer line including great navy, white, and red colored prints and great cover ups, wraps, and bathing suits were located to the right of the store ( I personally love white and navy stripes for the summer so this is a go to place for that particular print). In the middle to the left side, is the cash register with an accessories niche to the right. Directly in the middle of the store is a large staircase taking you upstairs to an adorable children's line of clothing to the left and workout wear/sales items and mens wear to the right. Very affordable clothing with great quality classic pieces as well as great quality trendy styles. read more

If you want good customer service, DONT GO HERE! I wouldn't even give them one star this is how bad the staff is. I went in trying to return ONE jacket. It was 9 days past the 30 day mark. Yes, my fault with that however, they way they handled this was horrific. I asked to speak with the manager and this guy Timothy comes. He didn't introduce himself so I had no idea who he was. He said he can only give me store credit and not a refund. I asked to speak with the store manager, he said the store manager isn't here, so I asked for the assistant and he said she is not available. I then asked if he was even a manager and he said yes. If your going to lie, get your story straight. He was rude, getting loud and basically said he can't do anything about this. This guy should not work in retail ever! Terrible customer service and completely disrespectful. Moral of the story, I will never spend one penny here every again. You lost a good customer H&M. If you want to get repeating business, make your customers happy. read more
