I emailed and called Barbara, she did not reply/return calls. I had to physically go to the office to get a response, which was her sitting behind a desk in a separate room and attempting to yell to me she did the taxes right, the IRS must be wrong. She said the First Time Homebuyer Credit from 2008 was waived by the government and I don't need to pay it at all - WRONG! I have finally gotten through to the IRS by phone now on June 4 and have confirmed Barbara Glanz did my taxes incorrectly. Why did I pay $225 to have my taxes done by a professional, if she does not know the correct tax laws? If it weren't for my own research after the letter arrived, I'd be doing something illegal thanks to Barbara Glanz. She refuses to refund the money we paid her and refuses to research the laws she claims to know. This should stand as a huge warning to anyone looking into a new tax accountant. Glanz & Associates is NOT the business for you if you want your taxes handled correctly. I am filing a BBB claim once a new IRS letter confirming the taxes were done wrong is sent to me shortly, so that I have paper evidence for the claim.

When I do, it's because of truly stellar service…read more My husband and I came to Michael Raff after 3 other accounting firms failed to help us solve a costly error made by the IRS and a previous accountant. The issue had been lingering since 2020 (2019 tax year). We tried numerous CPA firms and tax accountants. A few claimed they could help ultimately at significant cost to us, many told us to "forget about it". Last fall we decided this was a job for a tax attorney. I read reviews from every possible source trying to find a tax attorney with good reviews. Michael Raff's reviews were 100% great. I was suspicious of that many great reviews. I concluded that there were too many and too varied for the feedback to be fake. Not only that, he has a transparent and meticulous process for the way he bills and updates clients. Others before him pledged to keep us informed but only Michael proactively phoned us (and followed up with an e-mail) at the end of every month. The minimal retainer he asked for in order to work on this problem is still not used up. Michael was able to retrieve the money from the original error in LESS THAN SIX MONTHS, where other large, expensive firms had failed us for OVER 5 YEARS. He is still planning to retrieve money from the IRS on our behalf for the error adjacent money. We assumed he was a specialist only and worked as a dedicated tax attorney. Michael also does regualar tax preparation. It did not take much convincing to for us to engage him as our accountant. If you want an acccountant who is knowledgeable, dedicated, and ethical, I think you would be hard pressed to find someone more skilled than Michael Raff.

The first phone call I had with him serval years ago Ken was extremely arrogant and rude. He has absolutely no people skills. I stopped using him after the one year he did my taxes due to how rude he was to me for absolutely no reason. He was also doing my moms taxes up until this year. Every single year for the past 7-8 years my mom has asked me to find her a new accountant due to how rude he is to her (I was simply being lazy night finding her someone else, which I regret). He's not helpful and is short with everyone anytime you ask a question. My mother has major health issues and has a hard time remembering things and has for a couple years now. She often needs help with remembering what to send in tax wise and Ken was consistently rude with her each year for simply asking for a little bit of guidance. This year my mom asked him if he could possibly provide a list of tax forms she needed to send in to him. He refused to and stated "send in what you have and I'll tell you if there's anything else". This lack of assistance stressed her out so she asked if I could help her out. I emailed Ken stating I'm trying to help my mother out and asked what all she needed. I also asked about filing an extension and how much that would cost, and if it was necessary. Ken simply replied "I'll file an extension". Simply ignored all of my questions, refusing to provide any guidance. This is about what I expected as I know what type of a jerk Ken is. So unless you want someone who's extremely rude, arrogant and unhelpful, I'd look elsewhere for tax help!
