Contacted corporate Jackson Hewitt and was told that this was "franchise owned" and there was nothing they could do. I will do everything I can to make sure that no one I know in Green Bay goes to Jackson Hewitt. They do not know what they are doing and hire anyone off the street to do your taxes. If I am paying $317 then I am hoping the so called tax professional knows more than I do about preparing taxes.

I told her I would add it up myself to save her time and me money. Then she changed her mind and told me I needed a single document from my employer stating my overtime, which my employer could not provide. They told me to just add up the overtime myself. I told Jenny this. She then flat out told me that she will not claim my overtime unless I gave her a single document from my employer stating my overtime, and my pay stubs were not acceptable. She then told me I will not get a deduction from my overtime. Using FreetaxUSA all I had to do was insert a dollar amount for my overtime. I was able to deduct another $200 thanks to FreetaxUSA accepting my overtime claim. I paid $0 for Federal and $15.99 for state on FreetaxUSA. Jenny would've charged me $300. Overall I came out $500 ahead compared to having Jenny use her "expertise" by letting the computer do the work for her. Thanks for pushing me away, we will save $10,000 over the next 30 years by doing our taxes ourselves. I wish we would've done our taxes ourselves years ago. These type businesses definitely take advantage of the elderly, who don't understand basic computer skills. Don't fall prey from these "professionals." I was told someone would call me tomorrow. At 9:30 the next day someone calls asking for me. I I'd myself and he apologizes because our appointment was for 10 am. Huh? I wasn't given a specific time. I told him it was OK to talk now. No, he says, "I have an appointment with someone else now. I'm thinking, OK, stuff happens. The phone rings at 10 am. It is the same number that rang at 9:30 am. The voice at the other end is stammering and it is readily apparent he has no idea who he called! I identify myself and he apologizes for HIS confusion. He proceeds to offer options that are not even close to being competitive. I thanked him and said it was less expensive to put my planned improvements on my credit card. Given how unorganized and confused this man was, I had no confidence in what he was telling me nor did I have confidence in the quality of their products. He was the 4th lender I called so I indeed had timely comparisons and he wasn't even in the ballpark!
