I wish I had read the reviews beforehand because I would have just attempted to file my taxes on my own. The location was not upfront about the pricing. Based on the information that they had posted upfront I had expected to be paying a specific amount and then suddenly after my taxes were filed the amount was essentially double what I had thought. Had I known that upfront or even moments prior to them submitting I would have left. And yes I asked more than once about pricing. Then to further add insult to injury they charged me twice. When I checked my account later I saw the two charges and called this location multiple times so that they could reverse one of the charges but according to them they didn't charge me twice. This was a very expensive lesson learned next year I will not wait until the last minute and will be using my previous accountant. read more

It makes sense why this branch has a 2 star rating. AVOID this location by all means especially working with Daniel or Cynthia. I started working on my return the end of march, beginning of April with Daniel... He would leave me voicemails and messages calling me by a mans name, mind you all of our personal information is supposed to be confidential. Daniel called me on a day he seemed obliterated drunk. Then a few days later tells me he no longer has access and is sending my tax return for Cynthia to finish. The date he sent this over was APRIL 29TH! now a month and nothing is finished. Cynthia proceeded to "filed my taxes" everything was finalized and today, a week later now over a month after starting this process, she hands up the phone on me, with no resolution. While I was speaking, HUNG UP ON ME. Has all my routing, account, private information and hangs up on me without closing my case because I no longer want to work with them. I called to ask if they would take a second look at my taxes that I had filed myself, since I hadn't taken any deductions and if they could amend them to get what I owe reduced--the guy on the phone was like half a sleep and said if I already was in touch with the IRS the irs would over rule their amendments...huh??? He said I could come in anyway, but it was probably a waste of time for me. Oh, and it would've been $350 per year or more if he could amend them... I ended up calling two CPA's who both said of course they could amend 17 & 18 for $250! Do not trust this place with something as important as your taxes. RUN. read more

Terrible experience with H and R block.They messed up the huge refund I was getting.A lady did not know to file tax and forcibly filed my tax without my interest and when asked about the federal and state tax she could answer about it and when I did not want to proceed with them she said its against the policies such an unethical and a bad behaviour I have ever experienced. read more

I just completed my taxes with a woman named Mariam. She was lovely and kind, but most importantly careful and thorough. I felt that she was invested in me receiving a big refund, and I did end up with the higher refund I ever received, with no change in income. Is there a way I can give a 0 stars? Because that's exactly what they deserve. I scheduled an appointment with them to do my estimated tax and pay quarterly. This woman named Shirley was useless. She kept saying to just go online and think of how much I'm suppose to pay. Like really no way i did not think of that! She was suppose to guide me and the only guidance she gave me is how horrible H&R Block really is. Never coming back to this place ever again OR never ever going to rely on H&R Block for any tax related stuff. Absolutely awful. So unprofessional. I came in March to have my taxes done and the promotion going on at that time was that it would be half off if you were a first time customer. The catch was that you had to show your receipt from your accountant the year prior (even though obviously I was a first time customer since none of my info was in their system). The woman who did my taxes said there was no rush to get the receipt in. So when I came in with the receipt at the end of March they told me the promotion ended March 25th and I would have to pay full price! Long story short I came back 4 times to get this resolved and they only took off $50. They were rude, inconsiderate and they also kept lying to me and giving me the run away. Reluctant to even give them 1 star. My experience with H&R Block has been hands down the worst experience with a professional services organization. I just moved to NY in 2013 and didn't have an accountant in the area and decided to go to H&R Block expecting it would be headache free. I was in back in February 2013 to complete my 2012 taxes. I thought that experience was bad, and its only been downhill since then. The agent who helped file my taxes had no clue what she was doing. My first visit I was there for nearly 2 hours. Then I had to come back a second time, and a third. Granted, my taxes are complicated as I work in multiple states (i'm a consultant), I've never seen anyone struggle with filing like the woman I was working with. It got to the point where the manager had to get involved on my 3rd visit so we could at least get them filed and out the door. Given how much trouble the agent had I signed up for the peace of mind offer. Of course, back in the end of June I received a letter from IL (my home state during 2012) saying that rather than them owing me money, I in fact owed them money. Thank goodness for the peace of mind option I signed up for, right? Wrong. I sent the letter to H&R block the next day and they filed a claim on July 3rd. They told me it could take UP TO 30 days to receive payment. It is now September 17th and I have been calling literally EVERY WEEK since August 3rd following up on the status of my claim. Every week they tell me something different but that it is being reviewed and worked on. Finally after the claim was a month overdue, I asked to start speaking with a manager. The last 3 times I've called over the last 3 weeks I was told by the "manager" that it was simply pending approval by the district manager. Now when I call this week I speak with a different woman because the manager is unavailable and she proceeds to tell me that the claim has been on hold since September 5th because the claims agent needs additional information. She provided me with the number to the escalation agent who is working the claim. I reach out to the escalation agent and she tells me they have been waiting on H&R Block to send them additional information and that she is trying as hard as I am to close this case. She also asked for the IL letter that I sent to H&R Block BACK IN THE END OF JUNE!!!! So basically this claim has gotten NO WHERE! I'm so fed up with H&R Block and will not be suggesting them to anyone in the future. In fact, I will be making it known what a terrible and unprofessional lost cause this place is. I have had to invest so much time and energy into obtaining the money that is owed to me. Absolute worst experience I have ever had. read more

I just got my 2015 taxes done by a different accountant and he found $7700 in rebates that were owed to me that H&R overlooked for the 2 prior years!! My new accountant filed an amended return so I can get that money. I will be seeking legal action to get the service charges refunded that H&R Block charged me for their "services." HORRIBLE!!! I will NEVER go to H&R Block again. They messed up my taxes and then had the nerve to be as nasty as possible to me. Looks like if I hadn't called to find the status of my tax return I never would have received my refund because of their mess up. I paid over $250 for them to do my taxes to just get screwed. I spoke with corporate (who were very helpful) and found out they had all of my information incorrect such as my phone number and email address when I was sure to give the woman who prepared them the correct info 4x... I set up a phone call with them to call me at 11am... never called, so I called around 11:30, Shirley was NASTY and then realized they made a mistake calmed down, told me to come in and sign a paper which I now had to send into the IRS (meanwhile, it's their job.) Needless to say, I'm furious and now have to wait another month or so to receive my money. read more
