I had to wait 45 minutes with nobody else in the office, except his coworker, while he argued (I believe with the IRS) about what seems to be his own taxes. Instead of helping me with that. He filled out a 1040 X and charge me $200 and I still don't know how to fill out the 2359. I also thought he was requesting the waiver, but he did not do so. I am disgusted with this outcome and still may have a lot of work to do with the IRS. Never again. Never again at H&R Block.

How else could a company like H&R Block expect to receive praise? After all, it's a faceless corporate behemoth capitalizing on our inability to decipher complicated tax codes. I root for the underdog, though, so I shall be the first Yelper to leave a positive review for this particular location. I can speak only to the service offered by Sue Robinson, my tax preparer for the past several years. Sue honors her appointments (punctuality is important) and offers just enough friendly banter to be ingratiating. After a minute or two of chitchat, she gets down to business. My sessions with her have been quick and painless; she asks a few demographic questions, rifles through my papers, and enters a bunch of numbers on the screen. She tries her damndest to explain why certain numbers belong on certain forms, a courtesy I reciprocate with smiles, nods, and eye contact. In reality, I have no idea what she's talking about. I am, however, fully aware of the draconian tax laws in this country, so I appreciate the service and her apparent confidence. If your taxes are as complicated as mine (i.e., multiple sources of income necessitating dozens of forms), then I suggest making an appointment with Sue Robinson, a seasoned tax preparer with over 43 years of experience. After it's over, I salve my wounds with visits to the neighboring Game Over Video Games and Yogurt Zone; nothing takes the sting of the IRS away better than a spoonful of pistachio yogurt and a game of "Xybots" on the Atari Lynx.

This happened several times throughout our meeting which took about an hour because she had to keep getting up to ask questions about how to do her job. It took my husband and every ounce of self control in me to not get into an altercation with her and walk out. Something told me not to use the preparer, but I went against my better judgment. He was elderly, but I don't judge, so I proceeded. Furthermore my return was kicked back due to an error on his behalf, he messed up something with my social. Next issue, i was supposed to receive my return in format of direct deposit. Already after waiting to necessary amount of time to even RECEIVE my return, which was SUPPOSED to be today. I now have to wait 7-10 more than likely 10 OR MORE days to receive my return in the format of a check. I DID NOT WANT TO RECEIVE A CHECK. I AM IM THE PROCESS OF MOVING, trying to FORWARD MY MAIL. NOW BECAUSE OF HIS MISTAKESSSSSSS I have to go through more bs on top of everything else I'm dealing with.
