Because the date was close to the tax deadline, they said they were very busy and would need to file an extension for us before even being able to give us a quote for the cost of the tax preparation. We were in no rush, so we said that was fine and that we weren't worried about the cost. we were asked to drop off our 2021 taxes so they could use the information it contained to file the extension after which they would use it to provide us with a quote. I physically brought our 2021 taxes to their office on April 13 as they said the original was preferred over a scanned copy. I asked if they needed me to sign anything for the extension paperwork and they said no. Fast forward to today April 20 when they called to give us the price of doing our taxes and to see if WE had filed an extension! There was no apology for dropping the bal. Instead, they lied and said they never told us they would file an extension for us. What??!?? Why in the world would we have had that conversation or dropped off our taxes if not to have them help us with the extension and the 2022 filings?! When our extreme displeasure was shared with the accountant and asked what could be done to rectify the situation, we were told we would get a call back from the owner. He did call us back but only to say that he would put our 2021 taxes outside because they didn't want to do business with us anymore. Talk about bad customer service, bad business practices, and a lack of ethics! They should be ashamed of themselves!

Absolute worst experience I've ever had with an insurance company. Left Progressive for State Farm…read morebecause Rick Perryman himself gave me a quote much less to what I was paying. Takes all my information (license number, social security number and so on) tell me he runs my driving record. Sets up my policy and takes my down payment. 4 days later I get cancellation notices for all 3 of my vehicles due to my driving record not being up to snuff for State Farm. This is after I asked Rick if my MVR was ran and he confirmed it was. I try and go back to Progressive after being left out to dry by Rick and now they want to charge me a higher premium due to me not having a longer history with an insurance company. Gave calls to 3 local agents in Torrington and all prices are astronomical since the switch. State Farms says that can't insure me period. So I decide to go online myself and do some research. First quote I get blows everyones quotes away and they even run your MVR online(who would have thought). Steer FAR away from Agents and buy your policies online ESPECIALLY this agency. Will NEVER buy from an agent or State Farm ever again!!! VERY UNPROFESSIONAL

I typically just use Turbotax for my taxes and my partner's taxes if it's a simple tax year, but a…read morefew years ago I had ridiculously complicated taxes to correct and file from being incorrectly paid as an independent contractor instead of as an employee (long story short: I was young and naive with a terrible boss who tried to skip paying for my taxes; it was kind of a mess). So I went to Steve and he and his staff completely took care of everything, and explained it all to me. It was totally seamless and the fee was so reasonable too! Later on I moved across the country and looked locally for a new CPA for my partner's taxes that were slightly complicated from the move, but all of the quotes I was getting were astronomical (think $500+ fee), so I reached out to Steve and he was super nice and took care of my taxes again remotely without a problem, again for a much more reasonable price and in the middle of the busy tax season no less. I definitely would recommend Steve; he's the best!

He offered ability for float down, a low interest rate with no fees, on the surface everything seemed great. When we tried to lock the next day, all of a sudden he said he had 2K in fees. At the time I didn't check other agents in his company so I agreed since 3.5% was such a low rate at the time (end of January 2015). I wish I had worked with another agent because when I did check, other agents gave me the same rate without the 2K fee. Stephen was condescending and argumentative, overall difficult to work with. While we were trying to close our refinance, he was on vacation and he didn't even notify me or let me know to contact someone else. Then when he picked up my call, he was exasperated that I called him during his vacation. Which is absurd because I was never told beforehand that he was leaving in the first place! Had I known, I would have been fine to follow up with someone else. Other gems during our conversations - "Oh I know our online site says your loan was submitted to the bank, but in fact it was not and we will need more time to hear back from the bank. Nobody uses the online site anyways", "Oh when I said that the loan was being submitted for approval what I REALLY meant is that it goes to our internal team first and not really to the bank yet." In the end, the refinance was still rejected. Overall a bad experience and a waste of time and energy. Luckily I was able to close with another bank instead at a low rate.

On July 15th, I officially closed on my Jumbo Mortgage loan with Mortgage Master, using Stephen…read moreCampbell as my loan officer. Not only did I get a great rate of 3.50% on a 30 year fixed, but there were lender credits paying for every single penny of the closing costs. I'm not sure how Stephen or this direct lender gets such good rates, because when shopping other lenders, most lenders were quoting me much higher rates of 4% or even higher ( due to the loan being a large Jumbo). Stephen was always available to take my calls. He was always very informative with a direct no non-sense approach. At one point during the process, there was a market- improvement, and without even having to ask him, even though my rate was locked, he requested a float-down on my behalf to an even lower rate. As a result of this good service, I have since referred 2 family members to Stephen, and they too now have loans in process at these great rates. This lender takes no short cuts on processing. Some of the documents they asked for did seem silly. I just sent them in without a fuss. I didn't mind having to jump though some hoops to save such a large amount of money over the life of the loan. PS: Even after closing, I got a nice box of Dancing Bear cookies shipped to me as a thank you closing gift from Stephen. I thought that was a nice touch.
