Whatever you do DO NOT try going to Zhanna Navolneva see if they have someone else!!! She was very aggressive with me in saying she couldn't do my taxes - and was unsure what a sole proprietor business was. (I pay taxes on it on this, and brought forms to show her) I was missing one health form which understandably and easily can be pulled from the internet. She just kept insisting how ill prepared I was and needed to go home. The other company I contacted had zero issues and quoted me a much lower rate. Easy breezy taxes were done. I think this was officially last time when we used the services of this company. Last year our taxes were done by Elena who was very knowledgeable and professional. She described all the details and was very helpful. We were hoping to work with her this year too, but unfortunately we weren't given such a choice. This year, our experience was far from perfect. The tax-preparer who we were assigned to missed some things and didn't take quite a few factors into consideration. I didn't feel that the numbers she gave us were right and asked for a breakdown. We haven't heard back from anyone for a about week. Then, a week later we received a call with a reminder to pay the total for tax preparation even though I still had a ton of questions. A different tax-preparer gave my husband a call in a couple of days to discuss some details and make necessary changes to the forms. We paid for the service online ($558!), but there was no option to link the bank account to pay the balance for federal taxes. Every year we would provide our account information for the money to be automatically withdrawn on a specific date. We wrote them twice, called them a few times - no response. When we finally could reach them, we were told that we should it pay it ourselves online on IRS website. When my husband mentioned that they charge an additional fee for this service, she told him that it was too late to add this option and the fee is small anyway! This option wasn't even offered to us in the first place, we just knew it from our last tax returns. So, now we have to take care of this ourselves too. I remind you we paid $558 for tax preparation. I've heard from 3 different accountants over the course of our tax preparation, the communication was extremely poor and it was almost impossible to reach them either via chat or on the phone, and in the end, the service is not even completed. I think it is simply unfair to charge so much money and then say that we have to finish it ourselves. I am very disappointed. I wanted to handle this disappointment privately and contact the manager. However, there is also no email available for these purposes. read more

It's overpriced for what they offer when you can just do it yourself for free/cheaper. They don't offer you anything special. No instant return. The Best H&R Office! I've been using this location for many, many years now (over 20 years) and have always been truly satisfied. It's within walking distance from my office and so convenient. My tax specialist has been the same all these years (Beatrice Tenney). She is so professional, efficient and an overall great lady! The staff is always very good as well. Terrible. I am a very reasonable person and I understand mistakes happen but I spend $177 on my taxes for me and my husband. I got a letter from the IRS saying the taxes were done wrong - now they are charging me another $35 to fix the mistake they made. On top of that I made an appointment for noon and got here and was told I have to wait 30 more minutes. Don't go here. Pay for a smaller tax professional, it will be with your time and money. read more

DO NOT GO HERE, FALSE ADVERTISEMENT and WORST FILING IVE EVER HAD!!! I came here because I saw that it had good reviews compared to other locations. This was my first and last time ever going to an H&R Block! When I sat down I explained that I am an actor and a server (like most in LA juggling the arts and bills). Jerman Avanisian completely disregarded the fact that I pay my representation as well as my union a portion of my performance income. She also didn't do a single write off for me, NOT A SINGLE ONE, not gas, not my phone bill, nothing. I have two friends at my current serving job who used H&R Block and got money back because they had someone filing who actually cared! I make relatively the same money as those people and have similar bills (this is all for context). I have made the least amount of money this last year than I have made in the last ten years, and yet I owed money! Why? Because Jerman didn't take the time to do a single write off or care to help me get the best filing possible. I literally sat there while she filled in the online questionnaire, the same questionnaire I would have filled out at home. There was zero customization to my service! When I found out I was owing money I was visibly distressed, holding my face and holding back tears because that has never happened before. I questioned repeatedly how that was possible and was given the same excuse of Covered California over and over. Then she kept placing the pen in front of me to sing off electronically on everything and I was informed my visit was $210... FOR WHAT?! For you to click on a keyboard for fill in the blank? I questioned this too because I had been quoted online $150. I again got some BS excuse about Covered CA. When I went up front to pay I again questioned if I could get a discount as a new client etc, nothing! I was shell shocked and visibly distressed and left defeated. Flash forward: I review my former filings and feel that I was scammed out of my money as well as given inadequate services. So I call the location for a refund on my $210 since I will now be having to pay to have my taxes amended. They transfer me to Jerman without telling me (unprofessional) and I explain what's wrong and how I feel she mishandled my taxes. She tells me her manager will call me back. Manager calls back- basically tells me I should of refused to pay if I was unsatisfied or asked for a manger. I informed him, walking out without paying for a service is as good as stealing and two I would be leaving a place with all my sensitive information in doing so (that doesn't sound safe). I didn't ask for a manager because I was in shock and distressed (again check your cameras, I am holding my face, leaning on the checkout counter, I am not okay). Signing or paying under duress is not okay and the fact she had a client waiting made me feel rushed and uncared for. I even wished the guy luck as he went into her cubical. I was not a satisfied client and should of been given the option of speaking to a manager before leaving. Supposedly I am getting a call back today about a refund for my $210 after he now speaks to a supervisor. In the interest of absolute clarity for others thinking of using an H&R Block, don't, it's a scam! They don't care about you or your best interests. I was not satisfied with my experience at this location. Not only did we get started an hour late after my scheduled appointment but we ended up being there for about two and half to three hours because they couldn't figure out how to get my tax return accepted. I ended up figuring out the issue to get it approved. We also had an issue with our tax return being deposited into the wrong back account. When I called and spoke with the tax agents they weren't very friendly or helpful. I again ended up doing majority of the leg work and I informed them about the protocol for the issue. They were very uninformed and unprofessional about helping their clients. I feel like I literally paid them 150 dollars to plug in some numbers into the system and that's it. DO NOT go to this location bc they are not helpful if you run into an issue. read more

I worked with Miss Bea who I had worked with before and she explains everything, answers all questions and even gave me a high five for the good records o kept with my business. She made me laugh and put me at ease. I came in with a list of questions that she answered step by step. I went yesterday to have my taxes done. Yes I waited until the last minute. I had a 3 pm appointment and got seen by 3:10 so that was not bad. Jamie did my tax return and he was very nice, seemed knowledgeable, and was done within 40 minutes. The reason I gave 3 stars was the cost. I have a relatively uncomplicated situation, with just a few deductions. (I saw customers in there with shopping bags filled with receipts.) He initially was going to charge me $375 which I said was a lot considering last year I paid 1/3 that amount. So then he gave me a "break" and only charged me $350. I still thought that was a lot but at least my taxes are done for another year. read more

I had the worst experience at this location. My husband is active duty military and currently deployed. Upon making my apt I told the girl on the phone this and asked that the person I had be able to do ny taxes. She insured me twice they were. I arrived for my apt 15 mins early and even double checked that the person I had an apt with was able to do ny as well and was reassured that yes she could. After waiting 45 minutes ( apt was at 1230 I h ot there at 1215 and wasn't taken back until 1pm) I sit down with the lady and repeat my situation several times once she seemed to understand she said she was not licensed in NY and basically played it off that the front desk girls don't know about that stuff. WELL THEY SHOULD KNOW! She offered to find me someone who was licensed, after asking which seemed like the entire office she sat down made a personal call on her cell phone to a coworker in Russian right in front of me then said I found someone who can. I sat with her filled out a drop off sheet and she said it would be done the next day and told me to come back at noon. The next day once again waiting, this time only about 15 mins. I go back and she looked at me like I had 6 heads and said she didn't have a drop off for me and she didn't know anything about my paperwork. At this point I'm angry and just want my paperwork back (not to mention I had my husband's deployment letter and my poa in there) they finally found it at the front desk and even saw the drop off sheet but we're still acting like it was no big deal. Then she said the return would take her a few hours because she hasn't done ny in several years. I left this location without my taxes done and very angry. This location is a joke! Everyone is clueless and pretty rude. I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone I'm now totally stuck trying to figure out my taxes and where to go as h and r block has been my family and is go to place for years no matter what state we lived in. I recently completed my taxes at this H&R Block office and was helped by a nice lady named Jerman. I have a complex tax situation as I am a business owner and have many itemizations and deductions.
