Manuel Remollino did an exemplary job on filing my taxes and making sure it was done in an orderly fashion. He has gone above and beyond letting me know my rights as a nanny and what rights I need to expect of my employer. Earlier this year I went to H&R Block as I had used them the previous year where they did a satisfactory job. That was not the case this year. I ended up having to return to the Northridge location FOUR TIMES in one week to get everything straightened out. I did not meet with the tax preparer as I had requested the same person as previously used. My taxes are not complicated so I emailed them in. When I first reviewed them I noticed my main source of income was not included. When I pointed this out to the tax preparer, he said, oh yeah, the document was password protected and I was going to email you but got distracted and he ended up preparing my taxes without out it. To make up for it, he gave me $100 discount (I am told that is generous) and asked that I come in that following Monday. I went in Monday, picked up my taxes, paid and left. Upon review at my home, I noted he had changed my filing status from head of household to single with no dependents. My son was with me at the time and the tax preparer prepared his taxes as well, so he was well aware he was my dependent and at no time was I asked to change my filing status. I was asked to come back on Wednesday to pick up my amended taxes but when I went the office was closed with all H&R branding was removed and a sign on the door said to visit their Sylmar location. When I emailed the preparer he was like, oh I was in the back boxing stuff up and we had to lock the front because of all the winos in the area. So once again, he asked for us to return the next day, Thursday where my son was FINALLY able to pick up our amended returns. Please keep in mind in order for me to get to this location it took me 20-30 minutes one way each time. After expending all that time and energy, I contacted the branch manager for a full refund on top of the $100 discount already given but out of the $255 I paid I only received $55. When I tried to contact the manager again I was told she was out for the next 8 weeks but did finally make contact with another person who after her investigation felt the refund I received was adequate and they would be closing their file as "a service was provided". I would not recommend this particular location and I know I will l be looking for another tax preparer when it comes tax time again. read more

Come here if you want to get lied to and not get the most on your tax reduction! I made an appt a week prior and was on time for my appt. The tax accountant Manual R. Was running 20 mins behind ( understandable.. it's tax season). After waiting he tried to upsell me the services ( $450 ) when my mom came the week prior and paid $200 and had same exact forms ( W2 and homeowner) so apparently PRICES ARE DIFFERENT FOR EVERYONE. He visibly got annoyed when I questioned the price difference and when he was told that his next appt was early, he asked me to come back later that evening?! Why? Half my info was now typed in the system? He explained he just couldn't finish because he "entertained " my questions about the pricing. Seriously.. I was appalled that H+ R allows this kind of service. So he then hands me over to Daniel L. Who inputted my info and when I tried to ask a question, he asked me to not ask questions till the end. Wait, I'm watching him click "yes" to asking the taxpayer certain deduction questions that he did not. I AM SO DISAPPOINTED IN MYSELF FOR NOT WAKING OUT. ( but I had now been there 95 mins on my lunch break) SO I MADE 10k MORE THIS YEAR, PAID MORE IN HOME INTEREST AND YET GOT 1/2 my REFUND THAN LAST YEAR!!!!!! Thank you H + R Northridge for losing money, wasting my time and your horrible service. My entire family will no longer use you and I feel obligated to tell everyone I know to go somewhere where they will get a FULL refund, treated kindly and can have their ??s answered or even get their adequate and true deductions! I'm currently looking for a way to reverse what was done yesterday. H + R Block management, tax season is not an excuse for poor services, it is crucial for you to change your experiences or you won't be in business in a few years. People talk and will tell each other about their experiences. We work hard and deserve our true tax refunds. read more

Not really a great start to my first time getting my taxes done by someone else. I had an appointment at 12 and didn't get scene until almost 12:30 due to a "walk in" being prioritized over my actual appointment lol. The person who helped me was nice but to be charged a 145 fee on a 200 refund is horrible. This will be my last time coming here read more

H&R Block - Tax Services Near Me - Northridge, California

I've had such an awful experience. They surprised me with an extra fee last minute and because I didn't want to pay they said they'd get back to me and never did. I got ahold of them and offered to pay so I could get my return, and once again they lied said they would call me back. I'm still waiting on my return. I call almost everyday and cant get ahold of anyone. The location is always closed and when I call any other locations it's the same response. This last time I spoke with someone I was told they lost my paperwork and would have to call me back Saturday (today). It feels like I'm going on a witch hunt to get my return. read more

Horrible service! We've been waiting three months to have a mistake rectified and now the office is closed, the tax preparer is unavailable, and customer service has no record of our claim! I am going to investigate how to report the preparer to whoever licenses H&R Block preparers. She lied to us, kept putting us off, and was bad at returning phone calls. H&R Block Northridge is a great tax service center. I was fortunate enough to go to H&R Northridge this year and had the fantastic services of tax accountant Steve. I truly can't say enough positive things about this man. I brought him my tax returns from last year 2016 , so he could see what was done. I went to a very high priced private tax accountant then, who didn't give me a fraction of the time that Steve did at H&R block. Steve is a thorough, caring, highly competent, ethical and experienced tax accountant. As if this was not enough, in reviewing the tax forms I had filed the previous year, Steve found a tremendous mistake that was done by the "High Priced " Accounting firm I used. This mistake caused me thousands of dollars of taxes that I overpaid . (Paid two states taxes for same income ) Double taxes! Steve saw this immediately. He will be amending this . I had to make phone calls to out -of-state for some paperwork, while he waited patiently. No questions, scenarios off limit , he will help you in anyway he can. You never feel rushed. I am going back today to finish up my 2018 return. If you want fantastic service with a stellar preparer, I highly recommend Steve at H&RBlock Northridge. He leaves no stone unturned, and makes sure you receive all monies you are entitled to. A+++++ read more
