Now, just because my grandfather used them isn't reason enough for me, but once I started working in high school, I realized why granddad used them. First, the service is excellent. Many of the agents have been there for decades, so there's a sort of personal connection there that I just wouldn't get with an HR Block-type firm. And given that they're a Michigan institution, their first priority seems to be service, not jacking up prices so high that they put a large dent in your returns. The agent determines how much your return costs; after developing relationships with our agents over the years, the cost of our returns has gone down, not up! I guess it's this kind of ethic that keeps me coming back; they THANK me for coming back each year, not only verbally, but financially as well. That's reason enough for me! When I got there, she didn't know anything about it, but she took me anyway on a walk-in basis. I actually wasn't prepared like I thought I was. There has been a lot going on, but she looked up my tax information for me even though I was supposed to bring that paper. She went above and beyond the call of duty and I would definitely recommend her. Everything was on the up and up. It took less than an hour for me. There were some hidden fees from the $149 that I thought I was quoted, but truthfully, I did not read the fine print. I would use this company again. UYEN also took on the role of being my therapist. I was in a bad way. She also gave me directions what to do with my broken toe because she cured. I went to give her a $20 tip and she would not take it. She told me to pay it forward. What a gem! I have never spoken with her, only the staff member that has taken in my taxes and given me copies of the finalized filings. In fact, they made mistakes on my taxes the first couple of years of new ownership. Recently, I asked to talk to the accountant. She never called, so I went to the business. She was busy, but she did end up calling me later that day. On the phone, she was rude and talked down to me as if I was not knowledgeable. She made it seem as if she did me a favor by calling me.
