I go here every year for some trust taxes that I need to do. The staff is easy to work with and are always on top of whatever you need from them. The turnaround time is always what they say it will be despite it being super busy during tax season, it has to be a ton of work! I've done the trust taxes myself and no thx, mega pain in the butt! I would highly advise against using them. Their tax professionals are NOT knowledgeable, detailed, or trustworthy. The person Behnaz handling our tax return was a glorified data entry person, not a tax professional or CPA, they couldn't explain anything related to our tax return and had to defer to another colleague John and the H&R Block Helpline to answer many of our questions. If you have TurboTax, you could do everything they can do and probably get better explanations searching on the internet or using AI. We went to H&R Block because our tax situation changed and we felt we needed some more help navigating it. Big mistake! We paid over $800 for them to mess up our tax return and submit it with missing tax information. We uploaded all of our tax documents and labeled everything. It didn't matter, they forgot to type in some of our critical tax information and submitted it without checking with us, the missing information included our estimated taxes that we paid for the previous tax year. It was also submitted by them very lately and the information did not post until much later than when the tax preparer said it would it would all be completed by. Our tax preparer just said oppsie, don't worry, and laughed about it, and couldn't really explain the implications of it being wrong or submitted late, just kind of tried sweep it under the rug and get us to leave the office, which was pretty ridiculous and very unprofessional. The entire situation did not sit right with us and was very concerning so we reached out to H&R Block Helpline for help, got a piss poor explanation for their lack of detail in entering our tax information, and they just advised us to wait and see what happens and submit a correction if needed. When you pay $800+ for tax preparation services you kind of expect a little professionalism, tax knowledge, ownership, urgency, and understanding in the matter. Our tax professional worked part time, so it was very hard to get a hold of them, it was quite a bit of phone tag to reach them, and even then we never got any comprehensive answers from them, left even more confused than we started, and were often deferred to their H&R Block phone helpline for an actual certified tax professional advice which wasn't all that great. Because of the piss poor explanation and lack of professionalism from this H&R Block branch and helpline. We reached out to a local tax professional and CPA for assistance, without us telling them they quickly pointed out H&R Block missed our estimated tax payments along with a couple other tax fields that could have saved us some money. Quite a frustrating experience and I had wish I had gone to an actual tax professional and CPA instead of going to H&R Block where it felt like I got scammed and grossly overpaid to have have someone use an H&R Block tax program to plug in our tax information, which anyone can do. The H&R tax "professional" lacked any functional knowledge or experience to understand and explain what they were filling out and couldn't explain anything when we asked follow questions about the different sections of the tax return. We could have done it ourselves through TurboTax and we would have gotten it right and saved ourselves money, instead of paying $800 to H&R Block to have them mess up our tax return and stress us out about getting audited. Sigh. The tax professional was also very pushy and tried to rush us through everything. When we got to the part where we had to review and sign the service contracts and review of liability, there are numerous pages of contracts that need to be reviewed and signed for. She was trying to rush us to sign them without giving us any opportunity to actually read what we were signing for. At one point she turned the tablet towards herself and tried to speed up the process by signing for a couple of them without us knowing, and we had to stop her and have her go back so we could actually read what it was. I do not recommend this location for trust taxes. Their systems are not set up to do this. They had a lot of trouble setting up my account. When I went to pick up the taxes, they said they could not e file trust taxes and I had to manually mail them! In addition, I was charged $140 more than what I paid my tax person who retired and had his own business, who e filed the trust taxes. read more

I used to go to H&R block, but stopped since a bad experience years ago. I dealt with a rude old man who kept making snarky comments about my financial situation at the time. After shelling out more money than I should have at other places like Liberty Tax, I decided to go to a different location and give H&R block one more chance. I made an appointment online, and went in the next day to see Nicole Villaruz. She was very nice, and even apologized when I told her about my previous experience years ago at the other location. My situation was something she wasn't used to, but she didn't pretend to know and just wing it blindly. She was open and honest, and invited a more experienced coworker to assist her. While he helped her out, she paid close attention to his advice, which was also very nice to see, and shows that she clearly wants to learn every aspect of her job. She double checked everything she did, and made sure to be friendly and non judgmental at the same time. Thanks to her, and her wonderful coworker, me and my wife are back with H&R block. read more

Terrible service. I called and made an appointment with the receptionist Sandra AND tax preparer Sophie to set my appointment in a Saturday at 3pm. Both of them said ok to the time. This week I get a call from Sandra the receptionist saying "calling to see if you could change your appointment to Tuesday 30th." I didn't reply back since I cannot do that time. We dropped off our documents 2 weeks prior to our appointment on 3/23. We get there today and NOTHING is done. In fact, they changed our appointment to Tuesday the 30th without telling us and cancelled our appointment today. Very unprofessional. I didn't agree to the appointment change. When I asked about our document drop off, Sophie has not done any work with it. We asked for our documents back and left. Will NOT go back and do NOT recommend this place. Update: Sophie, the tax preparer, called me back and it turns out it is a complete front desk fail. She has finished our returns but needed to confirm a few things. One star for Sophie. 1. Front desk changed my appointment to the 30th without confirmation from me. 2. Did NOT tell me they cancelled my appointment on the 23rd. So we showed up today. 3. Told Sophie that I am "Susan". This place is terrible. My tax "expert" didnt run my numbers right and i lost out on THOUSANDS of dollars. I have called customer service only for them to say they cant help me. I have called the person who didbmy taxes who keep saying she will me back yet never does. I called the office numerous times and they keep saying she is not there and she will me back. It has now been a week and she still has not called me back. These are not tax experts. When filing my taxes, the tax "expert" keeps asking ME where she should be putting all the numbers. Wish i would have read these reviews before going to this dump. My preparer, SOPHIE CHANG, was a mess, incompetent, unorganized. I had to get up and help her a few times. She did my taxes, simple interest with a few stock sales and waited till i was about to check out with my taxes and charged me $644 bucks, clearly low levels operating off commission. I was first told it was because my taxes were complicated, then told it was close to the tax deadline so they charge more, she had one excuse after another. They refused to give me my paperwork so basically i was in a hostage situation with these people. If they have your personal information i would be worried and the level of incompetence i saw there was unreal. I am currently dealing with my credit card company to see what my recourse is while paying to have another preparer see if it is even correct. If you encounter her best run. I would avoid Saratoga HR block all together from what I saw and dealt with. read more

This year I had to see a new tax advisor because the lady I usually go to at the H&R Block in Sunnyvale is out for the season. This led me to having Rick Shuart, of the H&R Block - El Paseo de Saratoga location, helping me this year. I found out from the lady that helped me with my appointment, Diane, that Rick & Mary (my regular tax advisor) worked together many years. That made me feel better about seeing him. I trust Mary & was hesitant to see anyone else so this definitely put me at ease. Rick was very friendly & very helpful while doing my taxes. He explained things thoroughly & was a pleasure to chat with. If Mary decided not to return next year, I'd gladly see Rick :-) . read more

Suzanne helped me today, I came in with the mind set I would review her on Yelp and be very critical about it might I say. Let me tell you RIGHT NOW...I didn't really like her personality or attitude. I tried my hardest to be as nice as possible but I still felt uncomfortable. I do not know if she was indirectly trying to take abs at me because I could not answer all her questionsbut I found it nonhumorous or amusing. I mean don't get me wrong, I'm an easy going go but seriously... she was was sub-par when it came to friendliness and hey if your sitting down chopping it up. You should atleast "appear" to be happy? She was semi-professional. I didn't feel as comfortable as I thought I could have been and she asked me to answer questions and went off on certain things that made absolutely little to no sense. When I wanted her opinion on a tax credit and she said some random stuff like "I'm not part of that committee in the white house so I could not answer your question." Excuse me... I asked for your OPINION. I mean come on lady... I'm still pretty irritated with the transaction. Bottom line, the host was nice, even the lady that took my payment was excellent .The service was top notch, I just did not feel this is someone I could go back to next year and say I really enjoyed her expertise or her "witty" responses. Look I work in customer service, and if I did that to my clients... they would think I am taking a stabbing at them. Seriously! 3 stars is fair, the establishment was easy to find and the rate was OK. I would not go back to that specific specialist again but maybe the same branch. Also I'd like to note, why are certain branches offering certain promotions and others are NOT? My Tax advisor and preparer is Suzanne Zazzi. I originally had the pleasure of having Suzanne start doing are taxes in 2003. After I started being self employed. Suzanne did inthe beginning overwhelmed me and I was in tears not because of her but because I wasnt prepared to do my taxes as I originally thought I was. Suzanne turned my tax situation that year from oweing $900 to getting $1300 tax refund. Her services have been a god sent. and I return to her yearly. I got helped by Sue for a couple years. I personally didn't have any problem with her like another reviewer said. I think it's really frustrating when clients don't understand what is needed to do your job, and you end up guessing on stuff, so I can see why they might get visibly frustrated when dealing with a clueless person. Though, I guess that's why most of us go to a tax company. Even with Sue's help, I still don't understand why I should list myself as single when I am married. Ugh, I hate taxes. read more
