Total useless. Got our taxes done from Sergio and paid over $400!! Process was quick, maybe too quick since the actual refund was exactly $1000 less than he calculated! He calculated the CA income paid wrong ( I could have calculated that without program better). When I called the office to find out where the mistake was, I just got told that Sergio will be back next year and why I don't call IRS instead??? Very rude female office lady whom obviously has zero customer service! Don't waste your money - go elsewhere. read more

I went to H&R Block Santa Paula and they entered my direct deposit information incorrect and still collected the 485$ they charged me to do my taxes! Totally unfair I should get refund for the mistake they made. If I knew they would make a mistake I would have done my taxes on turbo tax! And than no one ever called me back when I asked to speak to higher up in charge. read more

This place overcharges and overbooks. A simple tax return cost almost $500 and the preparer was so rushed that she misspelled my last name and my dependent's last name. She also got my dependent's social security number wrong and because the return wasn't accepted, she asked me to wait 10 minutes because the next appointment came. I will not be returning. read more

I am incredibly disappointed by the service at this branch, specifically by Catherine Cox. Because of Covid-19, we were informed that we would not be able to have an in-person appointment and it would be drop-off only. My husband and I have a few questions, so I asked if he would be able to give her a call instead since we would not be having an appointment. Catherine laughed and told me repeatedly that she did not have time for this. When I called her back to cancel the appointment, she hung up on me. The whole interaction was incredibly unprofessional. Every brunch I called sounds the same,, the women who answer the phone is tired, and unhelpful, she's able to answer only with aaaa (which probably mean yes) and no,, very very very expensive charges for simple tax preparation, I will never use their service!!!! read more

I worked with Jim and had a great experience with my tax return, and because of that I will return!!!

This is my 3rd time going to this HR Block. Shame on me. The first time I was extremely satisfied and received a nice return. The second time I had my taxes prepared I went to the same person. My return was lower so we went over the previous years return. She made a mistake with that return resulting in a higher refund. She said, and I quote, "oops, I hope they don't catch that". This year after emailing and phone tag I couldn't get the same person so the manager recommended someone else. I went in for my appt. and she was running late. No big deal. I rescheduled. When we finally sat down and did the return it came out to be quite a bit lower than the previous year even though not much changed on my end. She told me she had been up for 13 hours straight! RED FLAG. She looked it over and determined that laws have changed and that's why my return was so low. I went home and did the return myself. It took around 45 min. It was not hard at all and my numbers were completely different. I went back to them and they apologized for the "inconvenience" and offered to file an amended return at "no charge". How nice of them. I went in to sign the amended return and was told I would have to mail it myself. I asked for a stamp and they said they didn't have any. REALLY? The manager, the associate and my original preparer all reviewed the amended return and GUESS WHAT? They forgot to include a simple form and now we have to do this all over again. Do you think you can spring for a stamp this time HR? Best part is I am fighting for a full refund for the fees they collected. They charged me $267.95 and only want to refund me $233 because they only screwed up part of the return. ARE YOU KIDDING ME! So how $3,100 can escape your expert eyes when I found it in 45 min at home? And then you were rude about it and suggested next time to purchase "peace of mind". If they would have been nice and helped me I wouldn't have written this review but you were horrible and rude. and buy some stamps. read more

We have been fortunate enough to have Jim Robertson at this location do our taxes for many years. We have always felt comfortable that our taxes were being done by a professional and have not had any problems. My mother, in her 90's, also has Jim do her taxes. He is kind enough to make it as easy on her as possible. All in all, if you're going to have someone do your taxes, we highly recommend Jim. read more

The manager and complete staff exude a sincere joy for what they are doing and who they are helping, and it truly shows. We had our returns done at this branch, and the staff was amazing! Our taxes this year were not easy to do (newly married, a change of state, moving costs, etc.), so we decided to let the professionals handle it. And they did! Our appointment was for an hour, but our returns needed more time to be completed and our agent Chuck asked us to leave the info with him and he would work on it. The whole office staff was helping us figure things out, going above and beyond simple customer service. They really cared about doing the job right! No one pushed us to buy any special guarantee plans, or tried to sell us anything. They just provided great service at a very reasonable price, which allowed us to buy an upgrade for our own peace of mind. Ridiculous! First of all, they can't even get their appointment contact system right. They scheduled me for an appointment, I went, they were not expecting me. I should have fired you right then and there. But, I gave you the benefit of the doubt. Then an hour later, my H&R Block tax person was calling ME and asking me the tax questions! I was paying you to figure this out, wasn't I? After firing these idiots for wasting 2 days of my time, I was able to complete my own taxes with TurboTax in about seven and a half hours. How come I was able to figure my taxes out and you weren't? I think you need to fire your agent that tried to help me lol, if that's what you want to call it, and hire me instead. I will never use this service again, and I'm telling everybody I know about my terrible experience so nobody else will either. these people waste too much of your time and money, plenty of other better places to go. I had a very simple return, I filed online and it told me I owed money which didn't make sense to me. I thought H&R Block would be able to explain to me why, or maybe get the amount lowered. The guy doing my taxes said I owe more than I would have if I had just gone ahead and done it myself, and not only that but they would be charging me $265 for their "service". $160 more than last year because of ONE FORM. He did not tell me this one form would more than double the amount I owed them. He offered no explanation as to why my taxes cost so much, or what I could do to make sure this didn't happen again. He seemed very irritated that I was questioning why I owed them so much, and didn't even apologize for not being up front about the cost. I will never file with H&R block again. read more
