I spoke to Niki and asked specific questions to test her competency. I asked if I could do this and she said ok. As far as I'm concerned,she failed miserably. I do not recommend her if you need someone who really knows the intricacies of taxes. I also asked if there are any differences between an EA and CPA and her response was that both can do exactly the same things. My specific question was if I want to make absolutely sure that I am not hit with penalties, what is the sure way of doing that. I told her my assumptions was both my wife and I are retired and no W2 and AGI of over $150,000. She spoke of things but not what I was looking for which was the Safe-harbor rule of making estimated taxes of 110% of last year'sl AGI. The things she mentioned were not going to protect me of penalties. The following is my response to your response. I have given you ALL relevant information to determine safe harbor amount. I had a HORRIBLE experience with Forest Accounting that I feel others should be aware of. On February 20th, I called to schedule an appointment with Niki for tax preparation. I was told she was busy over the next few days, but I could drop off my 2025 tax documents for her to review in the meantime. I brought all of my paperwork to the office on February 23rd. After a week with no communication, I followed up and was told she was still busy but would get back to me shortly. Another week passed with no update. I called again, and the staff said they would relay a message to her. I also left a voicemail directly for Niki. When she eventually returned my call, she mentioned that processing a return typically takes 2-2.5 weeks. I clarified that my immediate need was simply to meet with her to ask a few questions, and that she could take the necessary time to prepare the return afterward. On Friday, March 13th, I was told she was finalizing other Corporate returns that were due March 15th and she would call me back on Monday, March 16th. Instead, I received a call on Wednesday, March 18th from someone named Holly, informing me that they were too busy and not accepting new clients and that they would not be able to process my tax return. This was extremely shocking, frustrating and unprofessional. At no point during the nearly four weeks of follow-ups did anyone communicate that they were not taking new clients. This could and should have been communicated from the outset, or at the very least during one of my multiple check-ins. Instead, I was left waiting while they held onto my tax documents, during a time-sensitive period leading up to the April 15th filing deadline. When I went to pick up my paperwork, I spoke with Niki directly. Her response--"I thought you only wanted a quote"--was surprising and disappointing given the number of follow-ups and the length of time they had my documents. If they were not taking new clients, I should have been told that on Day1. She did not take responsibility for the complete disregard and disrespect that took place. Overall, this experience demonstrated a clear lack of communication, accountability, and respect for a client's time. Tax preparation is inherently time-sensitive, and this level of disorganization and indifference is unacceptable. I would not recommend using this business. read more

This was my experience with Nikki at Forest Accounting and Tax. You can judge for yourself if it's worth the risk. I needed my business tax return completed. I have owned a respected advertising agency since 1988. We are well known in our industry and have counted many of the world's great brands as our clients. We have done our taxes with a professional tax accountant for 37 years without any issues from the IRS. I made an appointment with Forest and waited 4 months to see her to avoid the busy tax season. So, this was a highly anticipated meeting and very important to my business. It takes over 50 hours to prepare all the reports and documents needed. When I arrived, Nikki asked me a few basic questions and very quickly reviewed my documents and reports. I felt like I was in the IRS office, having to defend myself from the start. The first red flag was when she threatened me with an IRS audit, which was new. Clearly, she did not believe my reports, which I told her were backed by itemized paper receipts. She also did not believe my bank statement of income received, but only the 1099 forms that reflected money transferred to our bank the following year by a very disorganized client. We then agreed on how she would do the taxes, but suddenly, after only a few minutes, she stated bluntly that she was not the right person for me. I was shocked and dismayed that after 4 months of waiting for this important appointment, and after only a few minutes, she refused to do the job. No reason was given. I was furious. Later, I emailed her in a business-like manner and offered her a chance to explain her behavior, but she declined to respond. My observation is that Nikki clearly did not understand the previous year's tax filing I provided and was not familiar with how small business operates. She had falsely offered services she was not professional enough to provide. But most of all, she was not a client advocate, but a representative for the IRS, challenging everything to get the most money for the government. And acted very unprofessionally. So, if you want to pay the maximum taxes, but be legal, then she is the one for you. However, if you want a good accountant who is on your side, helps you navigate the complexity of law, and saves you much unnecessary expense, then, new client or old, I recommend going somewhere else. This was a huge waste of time and money. read more

We found ourselves confused when we received a bill from the IRS. I have used apps or online services for years as our taxes are fairly straightforward. This year was different. I answered the questions on the app and it showed we'd have a refund of $5.8k. Instead, the IRS sent us a bill for $2.8k and we had no refund at all. Upset and very confused we reached out to Niki.
