Marla has been preparing my taxes for me since 1999 when I started a second job to try and make ends meet (doing those dreaded home sales parties that rely on your guests rebooking with me) and my tax prep became very complicated for me. Only one time for the past 19 years have I tried to do my taxes elsewhere thinking it might save me a few dollars and I learned my lesson when the other person could not figure out how to prepare my return, so I put my tail between my legs and went back to Marla and explained how I tried to go somewhere else. Marla was happy to see me as she always is every single year. I am forever a loyal customer even tho now I could do it myself on an EZ form. Marla goes above and beyond what you would expect from someone in her profession. Every year she greets me with genuine interest in how I have been doing since last year and we actually spend more time sharing personally than how long it takes her to do my tax prep. It is my opinion that many people write reviews when they have something negative to say. And often times people are dissatisfied with an outcome because of their own input. Just because someone has created a situation for themselves, does not mean someone else can wave a wand over it and make their situation something different. If you owe money in taxes, that is unfortunate, but you should not take it out on your tax professional. The thing about numbers is they are black and white. Numbers do not lie.

They did do me the favor of not charging me for my business return, which counteracted the IRS penalty, but my overall tax preparation bill was still substantially higher than both returns done by my previous accountant the year before and my new accountant this year. Hopefully mine was just an unfortunate product of a bad year by this accountant, but I felt that the amount of frustration the entire process caused necessitated me writing this review.

When I confronted the secretary asking why they chose not to do anything she said 'I told the other brother' who is her husband and my accountant. He claimed to know nothing about it and she could not even locate my taxes. My primary issues - no follow through a return phone call or email = poor customer service. The secretary's reason - I passed it to 'him' and assumed it was taken care of because I don't deal with those things. No one was willing to accept responsibility and NO ONE apologized.
