Ah, HEB, how I love thee. And how I LOVE this ginormous HEB! Hello, they sell CONSUELA?! We were in town for he night last night and stopped by after eating dinner at Pericos. So, we basically went to this HEB just to go. No real need of any kind, just to walk around and see what all they had. My parents lived in Helotes a few years back so we had been here before, but since then they've opened a boutique inside the store. In addition to Consuela (still can't get over that) they sell Natural Life goods. So awesome. There is also an Auntie Anne's, a pizzeria, a rotisserie, and who knows what else they have and I just didn't see. They only thing that would make this store better is if they sold margaritas. And Whataburger. Where else would you need to go to shop then? read more

I placed my order online at the hebtoyou website. Then paid, and scheduled my pick up. I chose the earliest time available (7:30pm). It wasn't too busy. I got there, then texted the code indicated on the parking marker. Not even 5 minutes later, a friendly lady came out and advised me of the items that had been replaced with similar items (which I knew ahead of time since I received the text and email), i signed for the groceries, and she loaded them into my car for me. I had never used the curbside feature but it's such a convenience. At least a 45 minute trip inside the store took me less than 15 inside my car! Placing the order online was really simple too. They have a search bar where you type what you want and all the different product options pop up with the price, then just "add to cart" so convenient. The grocery store section is fine. Management does not seem to want to adventure in purchasing special items you can find in other HEB Plus (Potronco or Blanco). Gas station is a nightmare and an extremely dangerous spot due to the lack of traffic signage. As per the pharmacy, this place is to avoid!!! The personnel is unpleasant (to say the least) and medications are often missing... if using, beware and count your pills! read more

This place is humungous and has almost everything you could possibly ask for in one place. Their produce section is amazing and is always stocked with the freshest seasonal organic (and non-organic) fruits ans veggies. They also have a great bakery with tons of tasty looking baked goods. There is a sandwich shop right as you walk in that always has a line at least 5 people deep. I have yet to try their goods but form what I hear they are quite tasty. Back to HEB, the rows are spacious and offer everything you could want from flip-flops to fresh seafood. My one big gripe (as it is with most HEB's) is that the parking is an absolute mess. It takes 10 minutes to find a parking spot at times and people get backed up waiting on people looking for the prime spots. I think this more of a people problem, but you'd think that for a HEB as big as this one that you'd have a better, more efficient way to gain parking instead of waiting in line forever behind some schmuck that's waiting for some lady to pack up her $400 haul into her minivan. read more

This is regarding H-E-B store number 40 on Coulebra and 1604 in San Antonio. I rented a carpet shampoo machine from them couple of months ago and there was something wrong with it when I took it back they asked me if I wanted to get another one I told them I couldn't that day but I would in the future and he told me that they noted it in their computer all I had to do is come back in he didn't give me any paperwork or anything. Today I went down there to redeem my carpet shampooer and the store manager told me they weren't going to honor it and they didn't they don't keep their records for more than a couple of weeks and that became my problem and they denied me my Rental. easily one of the better HEBs around. i am really glad we ended up in the area. we used to live further west, and would travel to the potranco@1604 HEB (instead of the marbach@410 HEB closest to our house.) i used to think that one was pretty good, back when it was newer, but they downgraded over the years. but i digress. about this HEB... spacious and an absolute glut of options. there are things here i can usually not find at any other HEB. like all HEBs, it caters to the area and tends to cycle out products often, which can be frustrating when you find out you were probably the only person who bought suchandsuch. staff is great, i appreciate them putting up with the demanding and pushy customers. even on busy, crowded days, shelves are usually well stocked as best as they can be, and lines are efficient enough. for such an upscale HEB i wonder why they just now are starting to get the label printers in the produce section. i also wish it had a self checkout option. so in summery: big, roomy, incredible selection, usual HEB prices, frequent product rotation that can make weekly shopping frustrating, clean, great staff. read more

This HEB is HUGE!!! I felt like it took me almost an hour to make my way around the store. No matter what time of day, I always feel like it's crowded. The quality of food is similar to other HEBs - I just feel like the displays are on a bigger scale. This is a family favorite store! All H-E-B's are great to shop at, but this is by far the BEST! It's so big, (biggest in San Antonio to be exact) clean and there is so much to look at. While walking out of the pharmacy I was in a lot of pain. I also had a lot on my mind. I unknowingly dropped my wallet in the parking. It wasn't until we arrived at El Chapparal that my grandchildren as me for change to play the arcade games; I realized in that moment that I didn't have my wallet. I called my h e b right away and they told me Yes we have a wallet that was just turned in!! This would be the 2nd time I lost my wallet at this h e band got my wallet back and the contents in it! This is my favorite HEB and fortunately for me and my family it is within a couple miles from where we live in Helotes. We are there many times a week. Some highlights include the sushi, pizza parlor with free beer during happy hour with pizza purchase, great produce. My son loves prickly pears and asian pears and they usually have both. Also good beer, Sake, and wine selection. Great cheese selection if you are into artisan cheeses. My wife picked up some amazing Gouda block this past weekend. Just a great store overall. read more

Newly upgraded from an HEB Marketplace, it no longer faces Bandera, but once you get around to its new spot, you can see why; it is about twice the size as the old spot. Hours are excellent - open til 1 am - and the selection and quality is outstanding. HEB pretty much dominates grocery in San Antonio, and with this store, it's not hard to see why. read more

Great selection of meats and fish. Very overpriced! They do a terrible job bagging. Wish they would ask if you want them to bag. All my produce gets bruised and squished. Kid packed my deviled eggs sideways spilling them all and destroying presentation. They were pretty much garbage as I couldn't display them. The shopping bags are so small requiring you to use more of them which is not so good for environment. Parking can be a pain. read more

HEB is so big that customer service is not on their list of importance. Visit any of the deli counters and find your self waiting for a while (today 7 people doing various tasks) and not one person assisting any customers. Busy stocking meat and cheese and other tasks. Very few registers open and find a cashier who complains they have to bag on their own. Well - this is usually the case where a customer has to bag their own items if one wants to get going. Stockers busy stocking shelves and not wearing masks and refuse to move over to allow customers to reach for items. This is at 930am not 5am. Target and Wal Mart carry groceries. Lots of management standing around talking amongst themselves but no one assisting customers. This is not isolated especially for the HEB in Helotes at 1604 and Bandera. This is the norm. read more

I have purchased meat at this store for the last time. This is the THIRD time I've purchased $50+ of top round milanesa for jerky only to discover they have OLDER and RANCID smelling meat under the one nice and pink fresh piece!!! HEB has the market cornered since Albertsons left and has gone down hill quickly lately. They change out what they carry so randomly that we find it hard to rely on what our family becomes accustomed being there. It seems like they buy bulk overstock, call it a "New Item", and 3-6 months later it's gone and we're left wondering if it will ever return. Sadly, there are little options other that HEB. As far as products go this heb has it all but if you're trying to run in for a few items or peacefully shop go some place else. This heb is ALWAYS packed with people from the parking lot to the aisles. It took me an hour to get 15 items. I live 3 mins away but will be driving 13 mins to another heb from now on. They need to open one in Helotes because everybody and their mother shops here! Very stressful. Also the cosmetic lady (curly black hair) is rude and doesn't acknowledge personal boundaries// can't say "excuse me" when reaching over your shoulder multiple times to put products away while you're looking at nail polish. This is my favorite H-E-B in Texas by far. Every weekend I come here to get my groceries for the week and I am nothing but satisfied. All of the store employees are well trained and respectful, and the store is nice and clean (for the most part). But I do have to say that they are always moving items around the store which is HUGE, and it is hard to find it. Sometimes they even stop selling it weeks on end. But I go have to say that Southern Flo Pizza is the Best $10 pizza anyone could ever buy and it is ready in like 5 minutes. Flaming Bird Chicken is nothing but the best also. Kids usually don't like coming here but this place is perfect for kids they always have Ice Cream samples, and when they are at the cash register the employee always gives them "H-E-B Buddy-Bucks" where they can redeem the points for lots of little toys. I haven't tried this that much but they have this thing called "H-E-B Curbside Delivery" where you order your groceries online they you go to the Curbside Delivery center and they pack right in your car, they also have a program in which they will ship it to your house in less than 30 minutes. These are really great if you are short on time. H-E-B is your one stop shop to get cheep groceries. read more

Best HEB I've ever been to, without question. It has a HUGE selection of products, some of which you simply won't find at other HEBs, and I particularly love the wine/beer section. Wonderful variety of craft brews to choose from! This last time I went on a Friday afternoon and while it was clear from the parking lot that the store was packed, this location is so well laid out that I did not feel claustrophobic or crowded in the least like I do at my neighborhood store. On October 29th I filled out an information card complaining that they had eliminated 3 or 4 Yoplait Light yogurt flavors. I was told someone would respond to my complaint. I was never contacted. On November 5th I noticed that they still had limited flavors of Yoplait Light. I mentioned to the cashier that I had previously complained about the cut back on varieties. He suggested I talk to customer service. I went to the customer service counter and ask them about the cutback. They put me on the phone to one of the store managers. He told me he had no idea why the flavors were limited. "probably a corporate decision". Obviously, no desire to look into the situation. Your welcome - Good bye - Adios. If grocery shopping could be categorized as a hobby, it would be one of my favorite hobbies. I love going to the grocery store and finding new things and looking at everything to see what I should cook. Heb plus is so big and has such a variety of things to buy, I love it! I found out about Heb plus after I recently discovered my new addiction for freshly squeezed orange juice. After searching and searching for a market place that sold some, I stumbled on a review on yelp about the fresh juice here and that is how I found my beloved grocery store. The fresh orange juice is more pricey than processed orange juice but you wouldn't even believe the difference. I will never drink processed orange juice again. The fresh strawberry lemonade and grapefruit juice did not disappoint either. They have a variety of coconut water too which I love and I've also got the guacamole here and it is so addicting with tortilla chips. I could not stop eating it. The produce and meat selection here is incredible and I love how they also have a big section for organic items as well as a section for dogs. The customer service here has been nothing but great for me. For as long as I'm living in San Antonio, this will probably be my favorite grocery store. read more

This HEB Plus store located @ 9238 North Loop 1604 West is the Mother ship of HEB stores! It just replaced the old HEB store on Bandera Rd. and Loop 1604. It is 186,000 sq. ft. of shopping on steroids. From the wide aisles and friendly customer service, to the many choices of items not found in traditional HEB stores, it is grocery shopping at its best. It has a Stackers Handmade sandwich shop and a Flaming Bird rotisserie chicken store just inside the main entrance that allows you to order freshly prepared items to eat or take home for dinner. There is a Cooking Connection booth that has chefs preparing meals right before your eyes and passing out samples. They take the time to answer your cooking questions and make recommendations on other dishes you may be trying to prepare. The meat, fish and bakery sections are all expanded and have extra options. There is a person preparing fresh flour tortillas that can be purchased immediately. The entertainment section had a large selection of phones, gaming devices, TV's, stereo systems, CD's & DVD's. This store also boasts a large outdoor section where you can buy plants, lawn equipment, lawn furniture, & decor. There is a lot more to this store that I am not going to add into the review, but I'm sure they will be covered by another reviewer at a later date. Much better today! The girls at my check out lane were beyond nice and had the best manners. Both said 'thank you' and 'have a nice day' a few times ... And when I thanked them for bagging my items really well they seem surprised! I think good workers should be complimented more often. The bad guys always get talked about ... I'm torn...so many great things about this HUGE store...great variety in pet supplies, toys, bakery goods and office/school supplies. And yet the important stuff (to me at least) seems to be lacking. Organic produce selection is slim, prepared (healthy, not mayo-infused and fried) meals are non-existent and the sheer size of the store is overwhelming and makes me run to walmart or target or even walgreens for quick stuff instead. I have always liked HEB as a company and really want to root for this store (not that they need me to cheer them on) but I'm finding myself leaning more toward two stars and twice a month than 5 stars and as many visits a month. I knew that Jesus loved me when I saw that my HEB was getting a much needed re-vamp. The previous one was great, but insanely overcrowded. The new one has the same friendly people, with even better food, in a much larger space. Two carts and several people can easily fit down each aisle. Probably my least favorite grocery store in the world, and I have literally lived all over the world so I mean this literally. HEB has a very small selection of organic fresh produce and pantry items most items contain bleach, additives, and are genetically modified. The seafood department looked at me like I was crazy when I asked if they ever get any local fresh fish in because everything they have is farm raised and imported from out of state or country. I hope and pray something better with higher standards for food opens up here in San Antonio because HEB is just pathetic. And when I have complained they have said that there is not a market for organic foods in the city and that they are "speciality" items. read more

I'm not sure if HEB trains their employees to be rude or if it's just a sign of the times. But these people need to take some lessons from Walmart in how to treat customers and how to act as an employee. I've been shopping at HEB for 30 years and every year their customer service gets worse and I'm afraid I've had it with them. Which is a shame because they have a good selection but I don't think I will be giving them business anymore.
