The staff were welcoming and friendly, and i got suggestions about new stuff and a taco salad recipe. Didn't take long to get checked out. One of the city's two Trader Joe's is here in Stone Oak; a practically guaranteed location given the neighborhood's infamous yuppie status. While it may lack the bells and whistles of other TJ's, it has everything else that folks would want: solid produce, quality organic options, and superior customer service. It's by no means the biggest store, but it's definitely clean and organized. Things are easy to find and inventory rarely seems to be an issue; I've been fortunate enough to all I need every time I'm here. Fans of the brand are sure to find their favorites, along with some interesting seasonal items. I also am fond of their flower section, which seems to change with every store visit. When in doubt, go on a weekday. The weekends are a bit of a zoo and given the tight parking lot, it can be a slight chore trying to find a spot near the store. Lastly, no location is better than the staff that manages it and this location has a pretty awesome group of employees taking care of it. The store itself has the right idea and I love it. The prices are really reasonable and can be cheaper than the leading Texas grocery store. The eggs were the cheapest when egg prices spiked and they remain the same price. Also their beef birria is really good and I've heard plenty of other good things about their frozen meals. Cashiers are always friendly and fast. But the store is always packed and the parking lot is small and almost always crowded. Only downside. I've been going to Trader Joe's (the quarry location) for over a decade and was admittedly sad that I wasn't going to be able to see the familiar faces that I've grown up with. I love it at this Trader Joe's !! Everyone is always so cheerful and so nice. I come here at least 2 times a week. I always used to think it was so expensive to shop here and I'm sure alot of others felt that way but for the product you get, it's really not. Definitely works on a budget. So on this day I decided to stock up on my favorites which include dumplings and goodies. I picked up my favorite ice cream and tiramisu. I've been wanting to try forever. I love when I go it's not to packed and again I love asking for recommendations. On this day it just also happened to be my birthday and the manager said for my birthday I would get free flowers. I have always loved trader joe's but this last visit was not so great. The shopping part and all the products are wonderful but the staff member that was cashing me out was just going off about politics and her views. I don't care who you vote for that is your personal business and that is definitely not an appropriate conversation to have at check out with a complete random stranger. We're so glad that we have a Trader Joe's on our side of town. A few visits ago, I discovered a variety of cheeses. They were all delicious and reasonably priced. A couple of weeks ago, we stopped by to buy an orchid plant to gift my brother in law. We ended up also getting cage-free eggs, yogurt smoothies, organic cold-pressed juice among other things. My experience was at the Trader Joe's on Basse Road. I've shopped here for years and was just shocked at how horrible my recent experience was. I live out by SeaWorld so it's quite a trek to come all the way into Trader Joe's. I'm gluten intolerant so that's my primary focus. I was able to get gluten-free bagels. When I questioned the gluten lack of gluten-free cinnamon muffins, the young man/manager said, Well, it's Thursday, what did you expect? I guess he meant that I needed to come in earlier in the week to do my shopping. I then asked where a certain cake mix was, and he never left his spot, but told me the aisle to find it. On the second to the bottom shelf, there were some mixes pushed away back and I could not get to them so I walked back to the same guy and asked if he could help me. Instead of pulling out the two boxes pushed away back to the back of the shelf, he told me it's the same stuff that's right over here next to it. I then told him I wanted five boxes of that particular cake mix and could I order them and he said we don't do that. At that point, I put all of my groceries back and left. Absolutely love the selection at Trader Joe's. Stopped in to get some items. They are doing social distancing, offering sanitation wipes for carts, and hand sanitizer as you walk in. The line was pretty long when I arrived but it moved pretty quickly. Several items caught my eye, and I can't wait to try them. The selection was great, as usual. I love traders on the stone oak location and I went in today after around 1pm after work. It was a huge crowd! I was disappointed when I was leaving I was checking out at the lane closest to the door and as I was tapping my card and prompted where it taps, it didn't go through at first and the cashier said " that's why we have an arrow pointing where to tap" did it again and it went through. She THEN proceeded to to tell me "it's okay some people are slower that others" which caught me off guard cause it sounded to me like a passive aggressive tone calling me "dumb" and to read basically. I wish I would've looked at her name tag but I tried not to give her my time of day to even look at her. Overall I will still be stocking up on items but with be avoiding that cashier as she didn't make my experience a great one. read more

I'm normally the person that praises Trader Joe's but this morning was the first official time that they let me down. Everything they advertised as having online, they never got it or only sold it for a day or two and then moved on. The store is normally monitored for the amount of people but this morning, people were practically bumping into each other. It was so uncomfortable and so unsafe. The produce all looked bruised, old, had a lot of flies flying around it. With that being said, please don't let this deter you. This was the first time I had ever experience a bad Trader Joe's experience like this. I do love this place for their variety and for their CHEAP prices of organic foods. Their soup dumplings are one of a kind and are my favorite thing to get there. If you haven't tried them, please do so! Hopefully next time I go, it will be better. read more

They offer health food, super yummy chocolates, tons of one-of-a-kind items, awesome snacks, $3 buck chuck wine, fresh flowers & more. Best of all, it's a small store so you can walk it pretty quickly. Highly recommend checking it out, if you've never been! PRICING: When we lived in California, TJ prices almost always beat the grocery chains. However, here in Texas our beloved HEB market is tougher to beat. The products where TJ's prices are most competitive are; raw nuts, wine, chocolates (especially for the top notch quality), and TJ branded items. Stick with Sprouts or HEB for produce. ACCESSIBILITY: Parking overall is better at this location than any I've been to. They have a couple of handicapped parking spots right out front. And even have mobility scooters, which is wonderful! I used to roll my eyes whenever a non-native San Antonian would compare my beloved HEB Central Market, Whole Foods, or Sprouts unfavorably to Trader Joe's. The comparison would go something along the lines of, "Their [selection/value/service] is okay, but *I'm* accustomed to Trader Joe's." Now that San Antonio has not one but two locations (the first on Basse near the Quarry, and the second at 1604 and Sonterra), I concede that Trader Joe's is worthy of the hype and that the snooty comparisons are justified. This review pertains to the 1604 and Sonterra location, which is much closer to my home than the Quarry. The store is impeccably clean and well organized, with aisles packed to the hilt with products bearing the Trader Joe's branding. Despite the relatively small storefront, the staff utilizes every square inch of floor space. For example, literally hundreds of chocolate confections are stacked directly above the frozen foods. This makes sense not only from a practical standpoint (i.e., effective space utilization) but also from a psychological perspective; customers are likely to pick up a few packages of dark chocolate-covered blueberries, orange jellies, or sea salt caramels on a whim as they browse through the impressive selection of Indian and Thai frozen dinners. I have fallen victim to this strategy on numerous occasions, not that I'm complaining. If you've read my other reviews on Yelp, you've likely surmised that I spend a fortune on fine cuisine. As much as I would prefer to dine at a five-star eatery for breakfast, lunch, and dinner every day of the week, circumstances (work, young adult responsibilities) occasionally prohibit me from doing so. Thankfully, Trader Joe's fills in the gaps with freshly prepared items (veggie hummus wraps, salads, burritos), snacks (peanut butter pretzel logs, freeze-dried raspberries), and a massive selection of delicious, healthy (nothing artificial), reasonably priced frozen entrees. Trader Joe's is a bachelor's best friend. The staff appear to genuinely love their jobs; they are friendly, ingratiating, and knowledgeable. They are also eager to discuss their favorite foods, albeit in a natural, conversational way, not a "I am talking in monotone because corporate wants us to push [x] product" sales pitch. I read that Trader Joe's offers competitive salaries and excellent benefits, so perhaps that explains the cheerful atmosphere. If you've yet to visit a Trader Joe's, I recommend this particular store, as the parking lot is much larger and easier to navigate than the Quarry location. A word of warning: clear sufficient space in your pantry, refrigerator, and freezer ahead of time, for you will undoubtedly return home with enough food to feed an army...or a gourmand bachelor. read more

Love it here! They have some of THE BEST treats and meals! I came at 11:45am on a Friday and waited in line to get in, but it literally took just 3 minutes. The service is super friendly and helpful, and they are doing an outstanding job at respecting social distancing, sanitizing and not having the store too crowded. I can get a refrigerator and pantry full of food and still pay less than what I would pay for 10 items somewhere else. It's still pretty wild to me that Trader Joe's is in Texas! They expanded to the area after I moved to the west coast, so it's been cool to have them available to grab healthy eats and groceries when I pop into town. My mom is a bit less adventurous and a die-hard HEB fanatic, so I went in recently to show her around the store and let her know some of my favorite products. There are quite a few regional products here I haven't seen in my hometown (enchiladas, a few seasonings) and some items I regularly buy but had difficulty finding here (vegan products, smaller selection of grab and go items). Grabbed the dark chocolate peanut butter cups, feta spread, Everything seasoning, and a couple other standout items for my mom to try. Most SA residents are used to lower produce prices, and this area was overflowing with excess stock when we visited. I'd stick to their specialty items that aren't found elsewhere. I overheard a few customers complaining about prices, but when you consider that the quality and diversity of items is more on par with Central Market than HEB, it puts things into perspective. It's an adult theme park for foodies and I make it a point to go down every aisle just to see if there is something new. Please consider building one on the northwest/ west side of town but until then I'm have to plan my day trips. I have been going to Trader Joe's for years, both here and wherever I lived that had one. Their variety in different kinds of food is great. You can find things from all over the world, but it is under their brand. Love trying new things and being able to stock up on family favorites. The staff is always friendly and treat everyone like a welcome guest. They have helped me find goodies on several times. They've also led me to some really good treats. I actually like shopping here. What's amazing is that their prices are consistent in every location. I was paying in California, on my last visit, what I pay here. Not many places will do that for you. For y'all Texans, it's ok to shop here as well as HEB. Y'all will just increase your choices a bit, you won't be accused of going 'coastal'. The store is easy to navigate and even us guys can find what we need. To add to its neighborhood market feel is the great variety of flowers . So, after you stop at your local sporting goods store or gun shop, grab some flowers here on your drive home.
