Visited this chain and location for the first time this past week. It might be an OK grocery store, but the amount of OSHA violations that they were committing while I was there was truly unbelievable. See photos. I saw one woman slip on the trash on the floor and another woman with a walker who could barely fit down one of the aisles because of the work they were doing to rebuild some shelves. Isn't this the type of stuff that should be done after hours? I did go "Karen" and asked to speak to a manager about it, but was told that the manager was busy and would not be available for 10 minutes. Never will I return. First time in H-Mart so I explored what they had to offer. When you first enter there's a food court area with entree options and desserts. Then as you continue you enter the grocery section. Foods from many different cultures which was cool to see. I loved the snack aisles, I got to see Korean snacks and snacks from Japan. Then on the other side there's a household and beauty section which was cool. Store was well stocked and neatly organized. I'd definitely come back to try some new foods here! read more

This is one of the smaller HMarts but they do have a food court here! They've got Tours les Jours, a ramen shop stall, and a couple other stalls. I find that the HMarts in the city like this one or the Brookline one price their items a bit higher than the bigger locations such as Burlington or Quincy. Great place to go if you're looking for fresh produce & Asian snacks. Highly recommend getting their premade banchan. Love the japchae, seaweed salad, and tofu. Good amount of parking in the back and some meter parking spots on the street. read more

In the area, we realize we could use a quick pitstop for some Soju. Checking out, I saw that there were mango desserts for $4 so I figured why not. And they turned out to be really good! Cons: - Improper Food Storage: Fresh Sun noodles, which were stored in the refrigerated section. The temperature in this area was clearly too high, even for refrigerated foods. I also found mold on several packs of Sun noodles. I also noticed pork meat that were prominently displayed on the shelves, the day of expiration weren't fresh with dark color, again indicating improper temperature. - Unprofessional Checkout Experience:The cashiers were chatting loudly with each other during the checkout process, which detracted from the customer service experience. Conclusion: While the store is convenient, and generally tidy, the presence of improperly stored food is troubling. First the cashier made a humiliation out of me when my EBT card didn't work for my mom stating, since the card is from California you should use it there, while it is embarrassing enough that my mother is sick and I am shopping for her in Boston, the manager on staff tonight at September 27th, 8PM wasn't helpful at all, told me to go to Jersey where it's 6 hours from this location to get it settled when it is this store that is having issues. Was disrespected by firstly being humiliated at the cashier and getting curry at Gogo Curry, was called a, "Maricon." The discrimination factor being Korean, and being called these things here while I'm picking up groceries here. Embarrassing experience. read more

I absolutely love H Mart! It's so fun exploring the store and looking for different sauces and ingredients. My absolute favorite is the prepared foods area, where they've got tons of amazing options. I've never actually tried any of the restaurants at the front of the store, but they have a few different spots and they always seem to be busy! H Mart in itself is an experience. The location is awesome, right in the middle of Central Square. Sometimes I'll stop by just to grab one or two things, but it's not really the type of place I'd go to for my essentials. One of the older Hmart locations my second one i visited over the years, the first being Burlington and now Quincy's This location is in Cambridge and is a bit smaller in the sense of space, parking is usually in paid lot or street parking that I've personally found. Summer time there are pop up shops in the parking lot to the side. They have most everything you expect from Hmart meat for kbbq, sides veggies kimchi etc. they have the asian snacks and a food court. Overall it's usually clean when I'm there, the food area i usually get katsu from the Japanese spot or couple pastries from Paris baguette. Snap some photos from artist alley on your out! read more

Love HMart. Have been to many locations throughout USA. I have never met a customer service representative who is so unfit for the job than I did tonight. I went to the customer service area to ask a question. I was genuinely baffled when Amaris (Amaritis?) pretended not to hear me when I was speaking in a volume that I knew she could hear. When she finally spoke, she did not make eye contact with me. She said "what?" in the craziest attitude and tone of someone who wanted to fight. I was so confused, I literally said the words "This is so strange." I understand that working in customer service must be difficult at times. I can't imagine the people they have to deal with daily and the questions they must be asked over and over. However, to work in a customer service takes a special someone who is okay dealing with many situations in a NICE and pleasant manner (not only with customers but with fellow coworkers). A rep should not be someone who looks at customers with disdain, acts like she can't hear, and uses a voice with attitude when dealing with people. This one person is not a good representative for your stores. read more

On November 26, I purchased a package of half chicken with a listed sell-by date of November 29. I stored it properly in my refrigerator and cooked it on the 29th, but unfortunately the meat had already gone sour. A similar issue occurred previously with a package of sole purchased from the same store--the fish was already spoiled when I prepared it at home. I'm not sure whether this is related to storage temperature or another handling issue. At this point, I am hesitant to continue shopping at H Mart until I feel confident in the freshness of the meat products. read more

Since I was here to eat dinner at Go Go Curry, I decided to buy some drinks and snacks before heading back to my hotel. There's the MBTA Central Square Station very nearby if you don't have a car. It's a small store but it has what I need! There's a large selection in the fruit section and leads to an even larger pre-made section to supplement the shopping trip. I like that the shelves are frequently stocked with fresh items. I even found out that they have fresh onigiri albeit a bit expensive at $3.99. The snack section is pretty impressive too. They carry many Korean favorites and some other Asian country snacks. My favorite section is definitely the frozen dumpling aisle. This ain't it, fam probably my most disappointing asian grocery experience since coming to Boston. It's a very small store, and I was SHOCKED at the prices I saw compared to the quality. Almost all the fresh produce, especially the herbs, were very wilted and everything was so expensive! Pears were $8 EACH--I have never seen them go for this high, and I don't think these pears will magically cure my ailments. The kimchi selection was ok, also fairly expensive and the prepared foods looked like they had been sitting out for a couple days. The Paris Baguette in front is also weirdly expensive compared to others I've been to, but not sure if they're associated with each other. Sigh, sad that I have to go all the way to Quincy or Chinatown for my Asian groceries, but let me repeat myself, this ain't it. read more

If you're looking for Asian groceries/snacks, Hmart is the place to go! They've got everything from fresh fruits to to-go meals, including kimbap and **glass noodles**. This location is a bit more pricey compared to the Quincy Hmart. Parking is quite difficult especially in the evenings or on weekends. There's now an extended lot across Norfolk street, but it fills up quickly. The regular lot right outside the store is metered. Overall rating: 8/10 read more

(my pre-Covid-19 experience) I was in Central Square with a need for a quick meal. Thus, I entered H Mart, and picked up a bowl of Korean noodles with veggies 16 oz for $6.99 from their premade refrigerated section. When I paid at the register, I inquired about utensils and was handled a set of wooden chopsticks. It was quite a lot of noodles, so I packed some into my clean lunch bowl and nuked the rest in the microwave available in the food court - not the best idea as the plastic bowl warped a little, but it did the job. A strawberry croissant $4.79 from Paris Baguette did the job in ending my dinner with something sweet. read more

Took a trip to H Mart on Mass Ave yesterday for the first time. First impression, this location is smaller than the one in Burlington but it makes for its bakery inside. I've been wanting to get those yummy pastries. So glad I now don't need to go to nyc for Paris Baguette bakery. Once I made thru the bakery I walked towards the market section. The precut fruits section was awesome. Lots of fruits, nicely cut and packaged. I moved on over the sashimi section. I spent over $100 with this trip and it's worth the trip. I just wish they will open up another location in the south shore!!! PS - didn't give 5 stars because the paper bag given didn't have any handles. It was heavy and challenging to hold a full bag of groceries. The cashier didn't want to split into 2 bags. read more

I'm downgrading my review a full star due to the state of the small food court area that I recently dined at. Two friends met me for some tasty ramen, and the whole seating section was a mess. (See photo). This is not normal wear and tear- this is beyond that. All the seating that has padding is in the saddest state, and the walls are marked up/dirty. Biggest qualm about this place is the pricing (a bit high) and also the freshness of the vegetables (sometimes too stringy, too stiff). Also, they're dishonest about following the pricing laws - one time they charged something for a price that was higher than the one marked - by MA law, the item (under $10) is supposed to then be free. The checkout agent said, "Oh, we don't follow the law here." (!?!!?) Otherwise some of the materials are quite decent - the fish can be fresh, and marinade on the bulgogis are quite delicious, and the noodle dishes are good. read more

Not just Korean foods, this supermarket has a ton of other stuff. Lots and lots of imported tasty things. Sauces, powders, canned foods and candies and meats. All sorts of brands and languages that I could not understand at all. Plus a bunch of produce that was very nicely displayed and looking fresh. Meats in interesting cuts and preparations that have them ready for cooking with hotpots and grills. If you need it and it's something that's not regularly stocked at the local Stop 'n Shop? This grocery store is really fun. I love coming here to just window shop for some Japanese and Korean food! its unique and fun, even though I don't understand most of the writings on the package.. but sometimes they have samples of the food they have and if you tried the food, it actually taste good. Came here after work to just look around since I was killing time and I am also in the area. So, I got myself some melon milk shake and kimchi veggie dumplings. I tried the sample of the dumplings and it was really good and I liked it, its a little bit spicy but it was just the perfect spice for one bite. I didn't stay that long because it as getting late and they have a little bit of the delay on the train. I only got two items but next time ill come back for some other good stuff they got. read more

This is the best HMART I have ever been to. It had so many prepared foods. I usually go to HMART in Flushing, NY or Koreatown in NYC, but this one in Boston caught me by surprise. Even their sashimi grade salmon was better than NY. It came with soy sauce and wasabi! An interesting selection of frozen foods as well. I was so excited when I saw there was an H-mart right in the hood when I moved here. I guess, looking back, I was pretty excited about a lot of things when I moved here. But, you know, time passes, you visit the exciting places and you become a hardened, jaded individual. In the case of Central Square H-mart, it's a hardened, jaded individual who just paid $50 for frozen noodles and expired oranges. This is compared to H-mart in Burlington, which is this vinegar-smelling wonderland of interesting food, fresh produce and reasonable prices. H-mart Cambridge is like dumpster-diving Burlington H-mart, except there's a $10 fee to open the dumpster. Everything is more expensive and lower quality. I literally have not bought a piece of produce from H-mart that tasted like it was supposed to. The oranges are dry, the apples are mealy, the dragon fruits look like they've seen some shit. It sucks because it's right here. Which I think is pretty applicable to most convenient things in Cambridge. It's right here. Therefore, it probably sucks. read more

It feels weird reviewing a grocery store, but this is gd H-Mart! I love this place so much and wish I had one closer to me. Every time I'm in the area I can't resist going in to look at all the prepared foods. I usually buy a few banchan to bring home, and they are delicious, especially the spicy mini shrimp. They're also well-stocked as far as Asian groceries go considering how small of a store it is, and prices are reasonable. It also smells a hell of a lot nicer than most Asian stores do, so that is also appreciated. My only gripe is that it does get very crowded, so be prepared to have to navigate around people. Pre-COVID, they also gave out samples spread out periodically through the store, and I hope that one day they bring this back. read more

It's a great option for grabbing a quick bite or groceries, as they have a Paris Baguette, Go Go Curry, and an entire aisle of prepared foods, includig soups, Bi Bim Baps, and sushi/sashimi. The salmon sashimi here is top notch and the bi bim baps are very solid - try the spicy calamari or fish sausage. Prices are very reasonable, as well. We highly recommend trying some of the buns when you go, all of the ones we have tried so far have been great! As well as the skewers which were crispy and so flavorful (though not very spicy). The kimchi pancake was great and we loved that it had rice cake in it! The only thing we can't recommend is the curry it was very thick and salty, and the flavor wasn't that great. Otherwise we loved everything else we got! The service here is always great and the servers are willing to try and accommodate their customers! read more
