I've never seen such a huge H-Mart. The H-Marts everywhere else are mostly Korean products but this H-Mart caters to Asians from every part of Asia. Somewhere in between the Korean Friendship Bell and Korea Town in Los Angeles, but not exactly right next to either. My goal was to go check out Erewhon and all the smoothies and artisanal popcorn that celebrities and food influencers rave about online, but the Torrance H-Mart was an interesting destination in itself. I had to really restrain myself from buying everything that I wanted. I ultimately bought: 1. The Hojicha Tea Black Chocolate from Japan (the brand is Meiji) 2. The Green KitKats (Extra Matcha Tea Chocolate from Japan). 3. The Hanyul Hand Cream (I bought three - Chrysanthemum, Artemisia, and Ja Cho). They smell amazing and keep my hands moisturized. Southern California is so dry compared to Northern California. Ja Cho is Lithospermum Erythrorhizon root extract. 4. The Innisfree Green Tea face mask. 5. The Esfolio Volcanic Ash face mask. It's perfect for dry skin, and creates a healty glow. I asked the lady working there if the Volcanic Ash was from Jeju Island. She had no idea. I bought it anyway because it sounded interesting. 6. The Innisfree Volcanic Clay Mask. I know for a fact that this clay is sourced from Jeju Island, and I've been buying this product for years. Cleans up the sporadic acne flare up fast! It's perfect for combination skin without drying skin too much. They have vegan jerky, Sriracha mayo, and Kimchee Ketchup. I can buy that at any H-Mart, I think, so I didn't buy any of that. The produce section has such a great selection of fruits and vegetables and you must always look for the bargains. Last week, Muscat Grapes were $14.99 but $7.99 with a $50 order. Good quality produce, fresh and fair prices. The meats are completely overpriced. They weigh the marinade with the meat so you're paying a lot of water weight. Plus other items are really expensive. I understand some of it is from the idiot tariffs but the PCH location in Torrance is kind of a ripoff. The H-Mart in my neighborhood in Portland doesn't hold a candle to this location in SoCal. The food court here is almost the same size as my whole store and the selections are excellent. And the market itself if full-sized with all of the options you'd expect from a well-established Asian grocery. read more

Review #849 2025-021 This H Mart took over OSH (Orchard Supply Hardware) almost 10 years ago, & I missed that home improvement & gardening store. Although I'm not usually out this way, I used to stop by after my grocery run at Sprouts (they're both located in Vista Plaza). My preferred Korean market was S-Mart (now defunct), mainly because of distance & prices. H Mart's run quite a bit higher & I need a cooler for the meats & other proteins, especially during the summer. I usually see staff stocking the various sections & aisles. The aisles are spacious enough to allow 2 carts to pass. The produce section is especially fresh! I have yet to find old, moldy fruits or veggies. My recent/post COVID-19 trips discovered unique fruits like Tropical Bliss Strawberries, Rosé Raspberries, pink pineapple. Wowza!! And boy are these juicy & sweet!! I've been going out of my way to stock up every couple of days when they are in stock. You pay a little more, but I don't mind because I can't find these in stock anywhere, including the farmer's market. The last few new Asian supermarkets in the South Bay are not standalone markets; they also house restaurants &/or bakery, & H Mart includes: Paik's Noodle, bb*q Chicken, Hansol, Tous Les Jours, Kiraku Japanese Ramen & Sushi. The cashiers are friendly & helpful, I didn't have to bag my own groceries (this was a thing during COVID-19 lockdown & some still have you bag your own groceries). Don't forget to sign-up for their free loyalty program. I'm not sure if there's a lot of discounts offered... hey, it's at least something. The entrance is strange, & you're directed to enter from the left side because the nearest door to the parking lot is actually an exit. Sometimes I forget & enter the wrong way & puff my way over to the left. You do have to watch yourself crossing to the market because it's near the street exit & some patrons drive fast coming in. Yikes! I probably would shop more frequently at H Mart if they were a little closer. You'll definitely find me here in mid-spring to early summer when my fav rare fruits are in season! ;-) read more

Place is BIG, full of tons of delicious foods and snacks, house items, restaurants. Big parking lot for easy parking. Stuff can range in prices. All things Asian. Employees have always been stand-off ish but place stays busy. It's a really fun store to explore. I love going to ethnic groceries and discovering what they have. H market is definitely once of the better ones. Their produce section is amazing from exotic to common fruits they have it all so well arranged. Their prepared foods, sushi, sashimi and ban chans are also wonderfully fresh and so much variety. I had so much fun going around - of course buying more than I intended to but that's part of the adventure. Cashiers are friendly and quick. All around really good experience. Must go back. My hubby had been wanting to check out this store so we stopped by a few days ago when in the area. It is pretty organized, many things (kinda overwhelming), produce is very fresh, staff doesn't look too happy to help with questions, but I really enjoyed of the snacks/treats I got. The lady that helped me choose the cheese/ham bread at the coffee shop when we were leaving, was kind and helpful, the most cheerful person I encountered at the store. My favorite market in the area. Perfect mix of products from all Asian countries plus several others. I always buy more than I came for and oddly enough, I'm ok with it. There is an authentic Asian Korean market called H Mart. A typically H Mart has two entrances that have an automatic sliding door. There are two sections . The middle section is the grocery. The bakery is on the right and the food court is on the left. The food court also has three food stalls. The first stall has authentic Korean called Han Sol. They have korean BBQ like Bulgogi, soup like Galba Tang, and much more. The second stall has a Korean snack BBQ chicken. There are different types of chickens such as classic, grilled, drumstick, boneless, tenders, and whole. They offer 12 sauces to go with but the popular ones are soy garlic, honey garlic, spicy Galbi, Gang Jeong, secret, and hot. The fries and pickles are on the side. The third stall is Palk Noodles. The popular noodles are black bean, spicy seafood, Jaengban Jjampong with Jaengban Jjampong, stir-fry, cold noodles. Some of the examples of the delightful taste and texture of H Mart are the sweet, savory, spicy, and tangy soups and meat. Today at around 3:30 PM, I experienced harassment and discrimination while shopping as an African American woman. I was the only Black customer in the store at the time, which made the experience especially isolating and distressing. From the moment I entered the store, I felt uncomfortable. Several employees were rude, dismissive, and unwilling to help me. Some employees either could not speak English which I totally understand while some chose not to, which made it difficult for me to get assistance and added to the feeling of being ignored. I also observed looks of disgust from some staff, which made me feel unwelcome and judged. My purchase transaction was completed at 4:06 PM, and my cashier was Karina. After completing my purchase, I went to my car and noticed that one of the items--a milk rice snack--was damaged. Between approximately 4:10 PM and 4:24 PM, I returned to the store and went directly to customer service to resolve the issue. I had my receipt and was seeking legitimate assistance for a damaged item. After receiving help from customer service, as I exited the store and reached the entrance area near the carts and cars, I was stopped and confronted by an employee. The employee stepped aggressively into my personal space, bucking up in my face, pointing back toward the store, and behaving in an intimidating and hostile manner. I felt scared, confused, and unsure of what he wanted from me. Because I feared the situation could escalate, I walked back into the store and exited through a different entrance in an attempt to remove myself from the confrontation. As I did so, the employee continued to look at me with anger. He did not stop or question any other customers--particularly Asian customers--only me. Being singled out in this way made me feel racially profiled and treated as if I were suspected of stealing, despite having just completed a legitimate transaction and possessing my receipt. The employee who confronted me was a Hispanic or Latino male, and the store appeared to be staffed largely by Hispanic or Latino workers. I never expected to experience discrimination from others who are also considered minorities, which made this experience even more painful. Because of this incident, I no longer feel comfortable or safe shopping at this store. I did not feel welcomed, respected, or protected as a customer, and I will not be making future purchases there. No customer should feel intimidated, afraid, or targeted while attempting to resolve a simple issue after a completed transaction. This experience was humiliating, frightening, and unacceptable. I have worked in both retail and fast-food environments, ans still do. And I understand how demanding and stressful those jobs can be. I know firsthand how important it is to treat customers with basic respect and professionalism, even during difficult moments. That understanding is why this experience was especially hard for me to process. While I recognize that work can be challenging, this behavior was unacceptable. No matter someone's race, background, or appearance--blue, yellow, pink, or anything else--everyone deserves to be treated equally, with dignity and respect. read more

Large store that could use a better layout. If you enter through the wrong door, you have to go back outside in order to get into the store versus the eateries or arcade area. Not sure why this design was chosen, though should have been better thought out. Once entering through the proper entrance, all the way to the end of the walkway and you'll see carts outside the door. The store is well laid out and was very clean and organized. Exploring H Mart...This Korean grocery store has so many great finds. Great Asian supermarket with quality fresh and live seafood. Huge rice, ramen, frozen dumplings and kimchi selection. So many Korean, Taiwanese and Chinese items. The sushi and Poki section is amazing. They have a great food court. Wonderful Korean food options and a bakery as well. Tous Les Jours has European style Asian pastries, breads and cakes. I decided to try lunch at Hansol Noodle Soup & Rice. So hard to decide but chose the Hot Stone Bibimbap, which is rice topped with beef and vegetables in a sizzling stone pot. It is really hot so be careful. The rice gets crispy bits, which gives it some texture when you mix everything. The side dishes are so good. The Bibimbap was delicious. I definitely want to try their other dishes So many of the kids from school were in the food court. They kind of overtook many of the seating area with their groups. Very lively conversations. Don't buy anything in the open freezer bins to the right of the store. I bought 2 bags of frozen dumplings and 1 box of mochi ice cream. They must be having issues with the temperature because the mochi was hard and crusty so had to throw out and all the dumplings had ice crystals inside the bags and fall apart when you cook them. This place has decent stock but the service is terrible. I spent 10 minutes looking for a soon tofu kit and could not find one. When I asked the woman at the front to help me, she told me "you should have seen it by the meat." Seriously? Is that how the store employees assist people that can't find something? This morning on aisle 2 there is an elderly man employee of cutting his nails listening to music. It was disgusting. I would've recorded him, but I didn't want to disrespect them that bad even though I felt very disrespected with the nail cutting.I was very disgusted and I did mention it to him to stop. There are three dots that's the weak point. You guys made a whole on total opposite side which is fine if all I want is the water but I paid $3.99 to get Coconut water and the meat inside which is something you can eat in a young coconut. In old coconut this flesh is turned into condiments or milk or coconut oil. Now that you understand, go clean up all your coconuts or give it away. You guys are 100 million dollar company that doesn't know how to open a darn coconut. You wonder how I knew the hole was on the wrong side? Well, I took a knife and shave the opposite side of the coconut hole and saw that you guys drilled a hole on the WRONG side. Seriously this is getting annoying.
