We did not have the best experience renting from this company. While the check-in process was…read morepleasant as someone assisted us with taking our bags and cooler to our rental the check out process left much to be desired. During our time on the lake we followed instructions to remain within a designated boundary to avoid rocky areas and stayed far inland however we hit some rocks and the prop had to be exchanged midway through our 4 hour block. We again drove under the bridge as instructed and left the boat in neutral in the middle of the lake for most of the remaining time block. We did not see any rocks which of course you would not in the middle of a lake but the new prop sustained minor damage a second time. We were charged an additional $500 for damages. In addition, we returned the boat early in an effort to avoid any further charges and we were ignored when trying to return the life vests for possible sterilization prior to re-use as we are in the middle of a Covid-19 pandemic. I would not recommend this company for your lake and water sports activities.

Only downside was that once we got out onto the lake we realized that the back ladder accessing the lake water was not there...we searched the boat but found no ladder anywhere. Appeared that it was been broken off or removed based on the sharp edged piece of metal still bolted to the rear deck. Either way, made it very difficult to get in and out of the water. It has become kind of a…read moretradition for me to go on a trail ride for my birthday with my husband (who also shares my birthday) and my kiddo the last two years. Southern Cross is absolutely beautiful from the moment you pull in the drive you know it's a special place. We checked in at the main house and drove over to the barn where my family and I were able to meet all the horses love on them a little, meet the doggies and just take our time. When it was time for our ride we went and got the horses ourselves, brushed and loved on them, got them dressed and ready all by ourselves my kiddo was a beast picking up that saddle and carrying it she did fantastic!! The people guiding us were so nice letting us know what we needed to do and when but letting everyone do it mostly themselves. I loved it and ended up bonding so well with my horse, Borris. He was an absolute love bug and when I go back I hope I can ride him again he's the best! My kiddo had Troy and my husband had Amos who was gorgeous! We even got to see a mama and baby horse my daughter was smitten! We had such a great time and it was a relatively easy ride with no large drops or tight places. We rode through a creek which I thought was the best part of the whole ride hearing the horses hooves splashing through the water was so cool! Even my kiddo who has only gone riding one other time before loved it and is already planning her next trip back! Definitely THE place to go if you love trail riding and beautiful scenery. They cater to beginner, intermediate and advanced riders. If you love riding or want to try it for the first time this place is the best check it out!!

As a lifelong rider, I appreciate how well trained and well cared for the horses are. Southern Cross Ranch is my absolute favorite place to ride, especially because it's hard to find good western riding up in the northeast where I live. And as a busy mom/professional, I very much look forward to not having to cook or clean or go grocery shopping or make any decisions whatsoever about food other than what delicious things from the buffet to put on my plate! The staff are wonderful and incredibly gracious; they really go out of their way to make the guests feel welcome and at home. We are already planning our next trip there!

It's such an amazing experience and less than hour from Atlanta. A few things to know: There isn't anything on the property so you will need to pack games and stuff. There also isn't anywhere to really walk around and explore. So we spent our time either in our room or back in the downtown Madison area. There seems to be a lot of confusion between the various teams and even another person in our your group stated that some of the information she was provided did not match. Everyone was super nice though and also anytime there was an issue, they got it taken care of. I would opt for the upgraded your that takes you behind the scenes and allows you to feed the giraffes because the reg safari has limited animals to see. You can see most of them from driving around or from the balcony of your tent. Now waking up and being able to sit out on your balcony and watch the animals literally in your backyard is really cool. They are still building and growing and would love to come back again in a year or 2. If you can swing it, spend a night in the giraffe suite
