As my first time whitewater rafting, this was such an amazing experience! I went with my family (group of 7) and we took the middle fork which had great rapids and no one fell off the raft! Tyler was an amazing guide and let us do a lot of cool things like riding on the tip of the raft, picking blackberries, and jumping off rocks into the river. He was hilarious and knew a lot about the history of the river. For lunch we had sandwiches and there were so many topping options including avocados. After rafting, I fell on the dirt and rock path while running and the staff was quick to help. I would definitely recommend this to anyone who wants to go whitewater rafting. Our family had a such an amazing experience on our 21-mile American River South Fork rafting trip! H2O Adventures is very serious in making the trips safe and fun(!!) from the moment we arrive to the end of the day. Their guides really take time to show us the river and its features, with opportunities to surf, splat, ride the bull, and even jump off a cliff! Our group of five went rafting this week on the Middle Fork of the American River with H20. Anne was our guide and she was AWESOME!! She handled the raft expertly and (in between rapids) gave us a lot of cool information about our surroundings, the wildlife and the history of the area. This was a more challenging trip than we'd been on before but we knew we were in very capable hands with Anne. We all had a great time and will definitely be back to do it again. Couple of freinds, husband and i were keen to go rafting during July 4 long weekend and started looking for deals on living social. We came across H20 and liked it because compared to the other tours which start at 10 and would require us to start driving from SF really early in the morning, H20 had a tour which started at 12:30. We left around 8:30 AM, stopped for some food in Folsom and were very much ahead of time at our destination. I was glad we ate so much because rafting def needs a lot of energy. We were not sure if it would be just us on a raft or we would be with other people and we were happy to see only one group per raft be in 2 people or 6-7 so that was nice! Our guide teagan was informative and let us move at our pace. The river can get crowded before rapids and we had to lounge around a bit in the water which was fine for us. I recommend wearing full sleeves , we didnt wear hats as we were wearing helmets. I had my bobs on which was probably not the best idea. The rafting was super fun and I cannot wait to do it again! There was a dirt road in the parking lot so be prepared to get wet and dusty! read more

Your whole trip depends on the guide you are paired with. I almost wish you can write some preferences when it comes to your personality but that's just a huge task and too much for a rafting company to take on. I loooove whitewater rafting buuuuuuuut - did not enjoy the experience. Our guide was too dry and boring for me. The experience was too controlled and I wanted it to be over 15 minutes into starting. I am still giving a good review as he did his job, but it was just not an enjoyable experience for our group whatsoever. We were able to maintain conversation about work for the 6 hours to not sit in silence but not the experience I hyped us all up for. The guide would be perfect as a teacher, but not for adults looking to take a break from reality and get out into the wilderness for some fun. I looked at other rafts in envy all day long. This could have literally been an 180 degree experience if we got someone else :/ Again, no fault to him. He is who he is, just didn't mesh with who we are. read more

Our club brought 30 folks for the 1 pm rafting. The equipment we used were pretty good. Started with a funny orientation of what to do. Our boat had 6 paddlers and we were the lucky ones to have Anne as our guide. She was wonderful. Her knowledge of the area and other areas were interesting. The rafting was great and everyone agreed this was wonderful. Anne, Flynn, Fiona, Tony and the others did a great job of keeping us safe while having fun. We had a group of 19 people for our two day 17 mile middle fork trip. My guide was Ben and he made us all feel safe, his directions were clear, and overall super fun! It was easy to tell that all of the guides were experts in their field and watching them go through the Class VI Ruck-A-Chucky was incredible! All of the guides were incredible and it was such a full service. They helped with carrying, serving food, cleaning, driving, and much much more. The vibes were immaculate and everyone had great energy. H2O Adventures has been my large group's go-to rafting company for at least the past four years. We usually get 3-4 rafts for the 20+ people we have. Tyler, the owner, is a great guy and guide. He's positive and fun to be around. He hires guides who love being in the water and making trips enjoyable for everyone, including young kids, young adults, and young-at-heart senior citizens. Our guide today was Jeff, and he told jokes along the way and made sure we got the experience we wanted, always asking us if we wanted to try something before doing it. He also knew a lot about the physics of rafting, which was educational (even for the science teacher on board). As the owner, Tyler is a busy guy, but he's definitely worth trying to get as your guide if he's free from the logistics of running a small company that is competing against the more corporate rafting companies out there. For a more intense day, I highly recommend the middle fork of the American River if you don't mind getting tossed from the raft a time or two. The South Fork is more family-friendly, but still fun. read more

Blake took my group down this past Monday on the Middle Fork and can I just say that we scored BIG TIME with our guide! That young man is as entertaining as the rapids themselves! After guiding us perfectly "DOWN THE MIDDLE" of Tunnel Chute with great pride, he serenaded with his personally written parody of Nickelback's "Rockstars" which he sang (beautifully I might add) as "We all just wanna be river raft guides". His lovely tenor cascaded over our bodies comfortingly like the cool touch of the river healing us from the heat of the sun. A highlight of the trip was our approach towards the rapid known as "Ski Jump". Although Blake provided much verbal guidance and strong support, our boat was unfortunately filled with a variety of large, heavy men and 4 out of our 7 paddlers took quite the swim. As I found myself floundering amidst an aggressive swarm of white water, I began to lose all hope of surviving.. until a beautiful life preserve that was Blake's voice reached out to me- convincing me to fight my way through the water. As I took a deep breath, I emerged from the deathly grips of the torrent water I saw Blake's chiseled chin and an outstretched paddle as an offer of safety. For a man of slightly shorter stature, I was impressed at his strength while pulling me back into the boat that resembled that of a 6'5 Viking Warrior. Later we were blessed enough to witness Blake tackle the intimidating Ruck-a-Chucky rapid! All paddlers stood to the side of the mountain side eagerly awaiting to see his entrance into what would surely be his doom. Although entering the the first portion slightly tilted, he held on and MADE THE CHUCK HIS BITCH! As he hit the bottom and he let out a victorious cry, there were tears in all of the spectators eyes for the incredible accomplishment of young Camlin. We had all bonded quickly with the personable, charming young Sicilian man and being able to witness this victory was an honor. 10/10 will be recommending H2O Adventures to anyone interested in the white water rafting experience and who is looking to get wet in more ways than one read more

As claimed, this was a lifetime experience for our family. To be frank, I was very nervous to go for rafting, as me and my husband are non-swimmers. I called them, and Fiona assured that "we will have a great day and will have the guide know". Believe it or not the guides were AMAZING. We took two rafts - one for kids (with Nichola ) and other for adults (with Natalie) and both the Guides were superb. They kept us entertained, informed, calm, and familiarized with water that the rapids became so much fun. Before the end of the 11 mile trip, my husband was already planning to come back again, atleast once a year. Excellent rafting trip! Our guide Lindsey was fantastic ... and a Missouri girl. Such an informed guide and kept our boat right side up and not capsized as we went thru class 3 rapids. A great trip! H2O uses HotShot Imaging as their photo specialists. They take pictures as you navigate the rapids. Unfortunately when you go online to view the pictures, because of the placement of the watermarks and the pixelation, it's virtually impossible to tell whether a picture is worth purchasing. I understand they do this to avoid picture theft. Maybe stopping in their store would be more advantageous. read more

I booked a trip for my family (me, husband, and 3 teenagers) with H2O Adventures for a half-day rafting trip down the South Fork of the American river. Initially, I found out about the company through a current Groupon. In the end, I booked directly through the company because they were offering a deal nearly the exact same price offered on Groupon, and I wanted to make sure the company received all the revenue rather than Groupon taking their cut. We drove up from the Bay Area that morning and were suited up in our life jackets, helmets, and oars for our 12:30 P.M. trip. After a few safety tips, we were off. The kids and I had never gone river rafting before, and it was just such a perfect introduction! Our guide took excellent care of us, giving us the perfect mix of safety and thrill! The cool river felt awesome on a hot, summer day! We all agreed that we would like to come back again! And seeing several of these reviews from people who have rafted before and rave about their return trips, then I think that speaks volumes. There are a lot of rafting outfits but this one was great! Their campground was nice, right along the river. I slept in my van in the parking lot. I brought my niece for her 1st time rafting experience and it was fantastic! Our guide, Natalie (from Colorado), was both friendly and professional. I wish I could have tipped her more but only had $20 on me (so be sure and bring some extra cash tip your guide!). She deserved more! We really had a great time, the facilities were good and the bus ride back to camp was fun. An all around wonderful experience. read more
