Not a great experience. $380 to rent a pair of jet skis ($350 + tax). And they don't even come with gas! My jet ski rentals gas tank came empty. I had to tow the jet skis on a trailer and go spend another $95 to fill them up with gas! WTH!? No where did I recall reading that the rentals don't come with fuel in the tank. Since I picked up the jet skis in the morning, it took time to drive them to get gas. This is such a hassle. Time spent away from being able to use them on the water. By the time we finished eating breakfast, a couple hours had passed by. From the pickup location, it was about a half hour drive to Folsom Lake. And we had only a few hours to use the jet skis because they need to be returned by 6:30pm. Which means we need to start loading them onto the trailer at 5-5:30. I had gotten a rope (that we used to tow an inflatable) caught under one of the jet skis in the impeller. It wouldn't start so we had to tow it back with the other jet ski. CA Power Toys charged me $40 to clear the rope out of the impeller. And another $10 for a ratchet that I lost. I'm fine with paying for the lost ratchet but charging me for getting the rope out I felt was unfair. The rental price was high enough to cover that. So this jet ski rental that I thought would cost me $350 ended up costing me $530. I got no credit for the gas I put into the jet skis. I filled them up to full and only used about a quarter tank each. Oh yeah. And if you're renting them on a Saturday, be prepared to wait a long time when picking up and when dropping off as you won't be the only one renting jet skis from them. This business is pretty much a one man show. He has an assistant who helps take video of the jet skis condition prior to your rental. You will need to wait in line for pre-inspection, instruction, and post-inspection. 2 stars because CA Power Toys was professional every time I called with a question, they were able to answer it. And because he helped guide me on what to do when I called with the rope line caught in the impeller. Also, the jet skis were in good physical and working condition. read more

The skis were very reliable we had NO issues and they were 2014. Only con is we ran outta gas because we didn't know how much we needed, so bring a gas can for back up. Go to another place. I rented this in August to take jet skis to lake comanche. First of all, I had fun, but the experience was not fun dealing with the before and after. Here are my issues: 1. They don't have a facility or physical address, so we ended up waiting 45 mins in 100 degree weather in the middle of the street in eldorado hills to get our jet skis. 2. The jet skis had water in them so the ranger at the lake fined me for a cleaning fee. CA power toys told me to lie to them saying that it was last at lake folsom. They refuse to honor the costs because they say it's our responsibility. Hidden costs in my opinion. 3. jet skis had no gas in them and I had to drive to get gas to fill up. Waste of $ and time on a friday evening. 4. The inflatable toy that we rented had a hole in it and wouldn't hold air so we ended up not using it and asked for a refund. Problem is we didn't get to use it which lost the fun for everyone. All in all, be prepared to pay $200 on top of your rental costs for the gas, cleaning fees, broken inflatable toys. Go somewhere else that gives u all these things. read more

We have rented from this group before but this will be the last time. CA Power Toys needs to seriously consider their customer service but more importantly the safety and mechanical performance of their rentals. To start off, the jet skis were in HORRIBLE condition and we questioned the employee multiple times about the machines. We were told there was nothing to worry about. Needless to say, we ran out of gas while out on the lake because the gas gauges didn't work and we had no way to determine if fuel was needed. Not to mention no rope was included in the storage compartment. We had to flag down help and get towed back to our group- over 3 hours of our day. No maintenance between rentals? Yup. They simply meet you on the side of the road after previous renters just dropped off. The trailer our jet skis were on was in need of repair and they asked where we would be launching the next day, so that they could find us and fix while we were on the lake. Profit and quick turn over were all they were concerned about. Finally and most importantly, my son ended up in the Emergency Room with chemical burns because their gas cans don't have safe dispensers and caps. We called and text letting them know what was going on and their response was "we will give you until 7:30 to return the jet skis" No concern, just challenging us that it was our fault about the gas running out, the gas tanks that were unsafe and our son's health. When we returned the jets skis and discussed our frustrations of the equipment and experience, the employee challenged us with $300 in damage that we caused!?!? Good thing my husband had pictures that he took the day before when we picked up. The employee's response was "well let's just call it even then" because you ran out of gas. Bottom line. Safety of equipment is a BIG issue here and customer service is very poor. Don't rent from these people or business. read more

Strongly advise that you do not do business with this rental company. They have a shoddy product and use tricks to jack up their fees. This if the first Yelp review, I've ever written but I feel so used that I want to share my bad experience. I rented 2 jet skis from CApowertoys to use on July 4th. We were quoted $500 for the day. Reid the assistant told me later their regular daily fee was $200 per jet ski, but they increased the daily fee to $250 per ski over the 4th of July holiday. When we called a few days prior to the 4th for the pick-up location. I was told that if the jet skis were not returned at 6:00pm on the 4th of July I would be charged an extra $150 dollars. I protested this because it would be very inconvenient to leave our guests and fireworks to return the skis. This was first of many times that CApowertoys presents an unexpected charge and then tries to negotiate it. We settled at $100 dollars. We protested but at this point our plans were made and all the other skis were rented so we reluctantly agreed and the skis now cost $600 for the day. Additionally, the skis, showed signs of heavy use with lots of dings and multiple patches (many of which had tape over a ding). Please see other yelp reviews. The Skis were both very disappointing; really lemons. I don't know if the engines/impellers were defective or the multiple patches created too much friction but the top speeds were 34 and 38 MPH respectively, with one rider. Both of the jet skis should have been able to hit 50+ mph. Both were rated for 530 lbs. One of the Skis took a full minute after any stop to get over 6 mph. With my son and myself on the jet ski it couldn't go over 15 miles per hour. (Our combined weight is not over 350lbs.) Neither could pull a wake board. But the worse part of the experience was when we returned the skis. Reed, the store guy, identified 4 small chips in the skis (under 1 sq inch). Reid told us, in the contract you could be charged up to $100 per square inch for repairs. Yet they had no measuring device to measure the dings. We had no collisions during our use and believe that the chips had previously been taped over. Reed said the skis were now unusable and needed to be fixed. He said the repair cost could be $1,000. When I pointed out that the Skis were literally covered with taped dings (which hadn't inhibited them from renting the skis to me). Reid said the repair cost would be $350 bringing the overall rental to $950 for the day. Reid called these taped dings temporary patches. When I protested the Reed said he would drop the charge to $250. When I asked to speak with the store owner (Justin), Justin said he was raising the repair cost to $400 because I was belligerent. I feel that some of the temporary repair tape had simply fallen off. In sum, CApowertoys charged me $1,000 to rent 2 jet skis for one day, double the initial agreed price! Remember they also wanted to charge me $1,000 for the repair which would have been $1,600 in total)! The skis were poor quality, banged up and not usable for multiple riders or to tow a wake board. I strongly advise to not use them, even if they are the last available skis. Think twice about giving them a $500 deposit per ski. They will simply take whatever they want off the deposit and you will have to fight to get it back. (small claims court) This company has a list of unhappy customers. read more

Great business! Rented two jet skis for a whole day at the lake in June 2017 (with prior evening pickup), the machines were solid and ran well. Trailer and ski pickup/drop off were both easy and quick. It's a good way to save on the wallet if you handle the machines with care. Professional and great customer service, we'll definitely rent from them again. And please be careful with them machines as that helps keep the cost reasonable for the rest of us! read more

We rented a jet ski for a day from CA Power Toys and did some lake hopping (Ice House Reservoir and then Union Valley Reservoir). The online reservation was simple. The pick up was relatively fast. We printed out the forms from their website and reviewed and signed all the paperwork before coming. Communication was great. JB was nice to chat with. I had the pleasure of renting two jet ski's from CA Power Toys last weekend. Cameron was such a pleasure to work with. As a first time renter and jet ski rider I had a ton of questions and I probably called with questions about 15 times throughout the process and the communication was impeccable. Cameron was always very informative, receptive and accommodating. We did a one day rental, but had to arrange to meet Cameron the next day to return missing items, and he was extremely flexible. He even allowed us to keep the full gas cans that we didn't use on the ski's and return them the next day as well, so that we could use it in our vehicles. My husband and I rented two jet skis from CA Power Toys this past weekend. The equipment was in excellent condition, and Reed's customer service was superb. We were even able to pick up the skis the evening before our day at Folsom Lake so that we could enjoy a full day with them. The deposit that we put down using one of credit cards was promptly returned (no unnecessary lengthy delays in releasing credit card holds like you normally experience with other services). Our family had a wonderful time with the jet skis and we are already talking about another day out on the lake with them in September.
