Service was good. The food was okay- nothing stood out- except I find the salsa that comes with the complimentary chips to be delicious. The 12 piece chicken wings ( we often for 1/2 mango habanero and 1/2 lemon pepper) were surprisingly small in portion for the price you pay... the pieces were tiny and the chef in fact added a few more pieces because they were tiny. The chimichanga was the way to go ( I got shredded beef) and it definitely was filling. The fajitas were okay. Again- not a bad place. But living in Tucson AZ makes you extra picky when it comes to great Mexican food. read more

The best part of Habañero's was our server, Hada. She made our dining experience perfect. We live in Tubac and had heard it was under new management so we decided to check it out and was pleasantly surprised. We stopped by to check out their Happy Hour and ordered the Calamari and it was outstanding. The sauce was one of the best we'd had in a long while. We also had the chips and salsa which were also VERY good. We told all our friends about it and the amazing service we received from our waitress/hostess Hada. We also met the new owner and he was nice and welcoming and invited us back. Our experience on our second visit, however, was not as amazing. We brought friends with us to treat them to the Calamari and it was just okay. When expressed our disappointment with the Calamari sauce, we were informed that they had changed cooks. We wanted to drum up business for the restaurant but the Calamari sauce was rather disappointing and not as crispy as our first visit. The salsa was also sub par. The best part of our experience was again, having Hada as our server. We try to support ALL the local businesses and restaurants in Tubac as much and as often as we can. We understand that any new restaurant goes through growing pains and hope that this second visit was just a bad day. Hopefully, the next time we go the food will be as good, if not better, as our first visit. We want them to succeed and WILL give them another try in the New Year. read more

Nope! This is not the place to go!!! The water was great with ice. But thats it. Chips and Salsa, old. The menu is not what is served. I ordered and got No avacado or guacamole or beans, basically a very soggy bun with some very dried out pulled pork which to chew was a battle. The chicken burrito was so dry also, just chicken in a flour tortilla. That is it. The gal barely discounted it and states the menu needs to change. I do not recommend this place. read more

A few issues. 1) We were there on MLK day around lunch time. We were a party of 6, there was a large party of 12 (?), 2 more parties of 6. There was only one waitress. That's poor management. This is a nice restaurant with a patio. When I was there it was very quiet. Service was good. Food came out fast. I had the chicken mole. It came with a side of rice and charro beans. I have been to Habaneros twice since it went under new management. Both times I was disappointed in the service. Under staffed was the issue with both visits. The last visit, monday the 17th, we ordered drinks, guacamole and the main meal. The guacamole was very delicious , but the service too too long and when we finally got our food, what I ordered was not what I got. The tortillas fell apart on my tacos. Their cook walked out on them, per the waitress. Again understaffed, the poor waitress was on her own and evidently cooking as well. I really loved the old Habaneros, staff and food. I hope they can remedy this situation or they won't last. I will not return, since I have given them a 2nd chance already. read more

Food was bland. Salsa was pretty spicy. Large group of us but the restaurant was warned in advance. That being said one end of the table were finished before the other end was served. A disaster. After the Chef Jorge left a couple of years ago I tried and tried. The food is terrible, skimpy and too expensive.

We just had our baby shower here and it was a dream! Food was delish, we had a buffet style lunch. The setup was perfect for our party size and ambiance was welcoming. We did not feel rushed at all. The service was on top of it and made sure our guest had their drinks and made sure they had what they needed. Picked up as my guest were done with their meal. It surprises me when a Mexican restaurant charges for extra corn tortillas. I ordered queso birria tacos, I was surprised they came in flour tortillas, since I have always had them with corn tortillas. The birria broth and birria meat had a good taste. Great little place in Tubac with kickin' margaritas. They have a mango habanero margarita that packs a punch. Just the right amount of spicy to make This margarita enjoyable. I ordered the Enmoladas which is basically enchiladas with mole! Those get a 10 in my book. Highly recommend those if you like mole. The chips and salsa portions could be bigger. This Mom-and-Pop Mexican Resto great for stopping in and getting no frills but very good food. While visiting Tubac recently we decided to give them a shot and totally enjoyed our meals. You should try their fantastic Tortilla Soup - unlike most, the broth is clear you can smell the aroma of chicken and all the parts come separate for you to put together into the bowl. I hadn't had Chiles Rellenos in a while so ordered them, I was pleasantly surprised at how good they were. They really know how to stuff Oaxaca cheese into those Poblanos. And the egg batter was just right - no overkill like many places. I discovered that they pan fry those critters as opposed to baking them like I do! It is made for a delish plate. My wife decided on their Tampiqueña grilled Skirt Steak along with chicken tamales - delish, delish, delish. The skirt steak was perfectly done, as were the terrific tamales. Oh, by the way, they don't serve refried beans here, the rice always comes with a magnificent serving of extraordinary ala Charra beans - terrific! Had dinner at Habaneros today. The wait staff is excellent as always, answered all my questions and was prompt and very pleasant. I wanted fish, but all they had was tilapia, which l do not care for. So, l ordered the steak fajitas. (Not sure how to spell that) I wanted a glass of Malbec, which they usually have, but they were out. I then ordered a Merlot it was passable. They bring chips and salsa, these were fresh (not always the case at end of season.) I don't eat the rice or the beans. I asked for guacamole and sour cream. The steak was passable but I have had better. There was an extra charge of $4.99 much less than other restaurants in the area and it was well crafted and had great flavor. I included the receipt so you can see the prices. I like this restaurant it's pretty comfortable. The seating is nice and the ambience is just fine. I paid with cash, yet there is a credit card fee?
