Habitat for Humanity is an easy five star review. Jimmy Carter understood the need for individuals and families to have their own home. He was a driving force of bringing attention to Habitat for Humanity. I've been active in supporting in the past and I can say I've known many University of Notre Dame students that collected my donations. The students also deserve acknowledgment for their support volunteering to build the houses. I was amazed that you don't need experience. My daughter learned a lot of her DIY skills from volunteering with Habitat. They have my financial support and I hope you donate time or money. It's a great nonprofit organization! read more

I've volunteered here for a few months and enjoyed the warmth of the staff. They were very open, welcoming and helpful. Which makes it easy to work here. As a customer the staff here are helpful going above and beyond to satisfy their customers. Lifting heavy and playing Tetris fitting furniture and bedding into vehicles. Wow! I popped in out of curiosity bc I was visiting the store next door and found a pair of HUGE drop dead gorgeous Italian quartz globe ceiling fixtures still in the box! I looked them up after returning home and realized I had saved over 90% on the retail price. I also bought three white modernist tables with steel bases that were in excellent condition, also an unbelievable price for the quality and condition. For a compact store it is super clean, well edited and organized and def has the quality goods & variety of styles of furniture and home goods. The manager and staff are angels. They helped me load the tables into my car. If I were looking to change things up a bit this would be my first stop. The manager told me their inventory is constantly changing so if you don't find something the first time, keep coming back. 100% A+++++ read more

I love thrifting & this is an excellent place if you just purchased a home or new apartment. You can get some real good quality items & sometimes they have an additional discounts, but go early like anywhere else the good finds don't last. Got this vintage bar cart. Habitat for Humanity Restore is a furniture/home decor store where we sell little home interior design things like candle stands and paintings to furnitures to appliances to tools and other random things like type writers and printers. Everything here is donated and we aim to price all items 50%-80% below their original retail price. All proceeds go back to Habitat for Humanity NYC to help build houses and provide affordable housing to those in need. This restore is the first store in NYC. We get donations everyday and things in the store change everyday. Things are really really cheap! I bought an electric balance for $5 and cool shot glasses for 50cents each. Visited here and it's a really nice little store with lots of (mostly lightly used and some brand new) things. They're mostly in good condition though and the furniture is pretty good. Silverware -$.25 a piece Dishes $1-$2 Random kitchen things $1-$3 (mashed potato smasher, large soup spoons, etc) Couches $20-$200 Tables $30-$200 Many many leather office chairs $20-$50 Fancy bed frames $200-$500 Cabinets $800-$3000 Appliances 1/3 of normal price - they had a kitchenaid fridge, oven, and something else new. Also had an lg or maybe Samsung washer and dryer new Dining room tables and chairs $200+ This place is pretty ridiculously cheap and some stuff is or looks brand new! The people there are really nice (pat and more). They have volunteers and paid workers there who sell the furniture (people donate it) for future habitat of humanity houses in queens (and near NYC). If you're a contractor it's a great place to come for remodels for your clients - the cabinets are nice and new (who on earth donates these?) and there are new appliances. If you love diy there are some dirt cheap pieces of furniture ($20) you can paint over or reupholster for couches ($20). They have a Facebook page where they take pics of new things that come in. They go pretty fast though. read more

Hands down my favorite place to donate furniture and shop for furniture/lights/sinks/etc etc etc in the 5 boroughs. The selection is different every day, since all inventory is donated. The staff has heart and soul, is pretty fun, and is doing this work for the best reasons - helping Habitat help those who need safe places to live. They do great program for people who needs new homes! Their storetakes donations and give receipts! Mainly furniture and home decor. They also do pickup of donations. So give it a try and discard your firnityre and hoem appliances with them. It goes to. Great cause. read more

I called to ask about a donation of furniture for Pickup. The woman on the phone was nice, and answered my questions. She gave me clear instructions of what to do. Email them pictures of the items and they would get back to me within a couple of days. I had a very nice mid century Dining Room set in excellent condition, but No chairs for it. The woman on the phone said that wasn't a problem. I sent the email, and a couple of days later I received a response telling me that they wouldn't take the dining set without the chairs. It was clearly a BS response. Most likely because the store is already loaded. I would have appreciated it if they had just been honest. They would have kept me as a customer, and probably more importantly, a donor. Oh well. Back to the Salvation Army and Build It Green. read more

I have a perfect set of bedroom furniture to donate and they rejected it no idea why. All I asked was to have it picked up.

Service: Employees were extremely helpful. Greeted me when I entered, offered to open boxes of things I was considering. Eager to share tips. Never pushy, though. Selection: This just recently opened, so they didn't have a ton of stuff, but still a decent selection. A few items they had during my visit so you can get a feel: - MDF kitchen cabinet set for $600 - Solid wood kitchen cabinet set for $900 - Complete bedroom set for $550 - Fridges and ranges from $600-900 (there were a few stainless steel items) - Wide assortment of construction tools, priced 25-40% below retail - Old couches for $25 - End tables from $50 to a few hundred, depending on the quality (they had some really nice sets) - Various small hardware and electrical, about 20-40% below retail Prices: Overall, the prices weren't bad, but they weren't the 50-80% off that ReStores typically advertise. Most prices were comparable to or somewhat lower than similar new items on sale. I think only the furniture and cabinets were great deals. Overall, it was fun to check them out, and if I were in the area, I'd stop in, but I wouldn't make a trip out of it unless I were looking for furniture or cabinets. In comparison to a Goodwill, the items are overall in better condition and better organized, but I think the deals are better at Goodwill read more

Not only do the profits from this store go towards a great cause, their stuff is truly top-notch! If I had a house or co-op to furnish with not only furniture but major appliances, this would be my first stop. And I would stop by every day because their inventory is always changing because at prices like theirs, the deals don't sit around long. If you see it and want it- don't hesitate or else the next person in the door might want it. Also, starting in Jan. I'll be volunteering there as they have a very flexible volunteer program (online training, schedule your own hours online and no interview). I love the fact that they appreciate all comers. Luckily I won't be tempted by any impulse purchases but I'll get current retail training. They sell brand new stuff as well as used and have cabinet sets, sinks, fridges, and most things new homeowners would need. As an added bonus- free parking. read more

The two men working here were lovely. The selection and prices were meh. Some of the pictures they were selling costs less new. The store was also very very small. I was thinking it would be as long as the corningware store right next to it but it wasn't. I hope they get more stuff and I am certainly going to donate to them. read more
