Reasonable prices and decent assortment of used goods especially clothing and other cool trinkets for the home .good selection of furniture especially on the vintage old school fashion and it may seem a little cluttered inside but everything is in plain view to easy to find mode . My cuz got some clothing pieces and I am always looking for the unique old little items to put in my living room and man cave . Found some old cig trays which are from the early 70s and I don't smoke but too cool not to get and a few books caught my fancy and made me a little curious so that's coming home with me and a night lamp as well . I love to thrift so i can't really say anything bad about this place! (besides the fact there is no AC!) so it is brutal in the summer time if you go! I went just yesterday, one of the hottest days in NY by far, but i found some great tops! i wasn't able to look for longer than an hour or 2 because of the heat, but i got 7 tops for only $35!! there was one person working and he was nice as well :) read more

Just alright. The prices are high and most of the items there are meh, but there are some goodies available if you're willing to search. I found two great items for decent prices. My biggest complaint is that it is so cramped, I found myself waiting for nearly 20 minutes to get into a section of the store because two other shoppers were there and I was unable to get around to the section any other way. A flea market setup it is not. Sunnyside Thrift Shop has a shocking array of everything from clothes to books to full furniture sets. There is a lot of good stuff to be had here, even if it is pre-owned or second (or fifth) hand. Some folks might recognize this place as the former Carnicera Las Americas, which it was up until about 6 months ago. Now it's been converted to a thrift store, which might be the best in Sunnyside. Staff here is friendly and usually pretty knowledgeable with their inventory. Prices here aren't good will cheap, but it certainly beats paying for an overpriced retail item. In this shoddy economy of ours, it's amazing this place isn't flooded with more people (except on the weekends when it's a zoo). It's also not the only thrift store along Greenpoint as Good Buy Thrift Shop (also with a sign that says Sunnyside Thrift Shop) is right across the street. This thrift shop is just okay. It's located two blocks from the train station so it's a very convenient location. If you drive there is plenty of parking on the streets. The options in the store from the clothes, to the shoes, the books, and the other items are not much to choose from. I have seen better options from ithef thrift stores. read more

Cozy store with lots of sweaters to choose from around the holidays. Prices are on the higher end for thrift stores but the selection is good and the clothes are decent quality (didn't see any obvious stains). Nice book section. There's one fitting room with a mirror and a couple hooks, it smells a little bad in there but it's not visibly dirty. Found some nice sweaters and jackets. read more

I feel this needs an update as this store has drastically changed. Seems that since the owner or the person in charge has changed, the store went downhill. You don't get that friendly feel anymore when you walk into the store. Everything feels overpriced and the inventory has diminished in quality as well. I stumbled onto this thrift shop when I had some time to kill around Sunnyside. It looked like a community thrift shop, a legitimate business that isn't all that into glamouring it up and calling everything "vintage". That intrigued me and I was ready to dive into find some goodnesses. First impression of the thrift shop is that it isn't very neat. It isn't unorganized but within the organized sections, there is bit of chaos. But I'm a pro and I appreciate thrifting so I kept on going deeper. The store associates just let me glide on by and do my own thing, never noting me or anything. I prefer it that way, but some people might not. It is not as expensive as some of the other ones I've seen and it does accept credit cards. It has clothes, books, shoes, kitchenware, bakeware, jewelry, DVDs, and some pieces of furniture (?) / decoration pieces. Some of the clothes looked straight out of a bag someone might have donated many many months ago - still has some sort of unfamiliar smell. In the end I saw really nice pieces, some really new-like pieces. I left with two sweaters, totaled to $10. One had a blue tag which means 50% off (yay!). I'm not sure if they cycle through a discounted tag color every now and then but when I went, it was blue = 50% off. This store isn't the nicest - but I would come back every now and then and do a thorough inspection of all that it has to offer. read more

I've been there twice- merely to drop off clothes for donation; The first time, the gentleman assisted me right away. He offered up a receipt for the donation, and was very friendly. The second time I went with donations to drop off, a different gentleman was on the phone chatting. He didn't react to my presence until I spoke to him. I told him I had donations, he made some half assed reaction. I then asked him for a receipt, which he gave me. All the while still on the phone chatting to his friend. I'm of the opinion that if there is a customer, your undivided attention should be given to that customer until their needs are met. And you've done all you can to assist, politely. read more

Sunnyside Thrift Shop is one of Sunnyside's finest gems. While there are some thrift shops in the area that sell very old and small clothing (shh..), this particular thrift shop remains moderate. You can find stuff from Marc Jacobs, Juicy Couture to Levi's and American Eagle, very reasonably-priced as well. It's also one of the few thrift shops around that sell furniture. And when I say furniture, I don't mean your air couch, I mean couch sets, dining tables and computer desks. The only problems I have with this shop is that whenever I actually like something, there's a flaw to it and most of the women's shoes are size 41. They have a great DVD and an amazing (and HUGE) book section. The guy behind the register is always nice and helpful so if you're in the area, don't hesitate to come! read more

The cashier guy is a big thief, i caught him stealing, his name is Rolando, buyers beware always ask for a receipt, sometimes he says the receipts are stuck in his broken english the machine is not working, or sometimes he says today i take only cash, machine broken. He does this alot i became suspicious, when he thought i was not looking i saw him put money in his pocket, he also hides the good brand named items behind the counter, and a woman from his country picks the bag up everyday, sometimes she sends her husband to pick it up, they never pay, i found out they sell the items on line. Rolando said the cameras are old, It's a shame that the owner does not know about all this theft going on in his store, he should get new cameras with audio, and a nanny camera to catch him stealing. read more

I really enjoy going to this thrift shop. It is a gem waiting to be found. Well organized, and easy to walk around, this shop sells books, DVDs, shoes, furniture, and showcases a wonderful array of women's clothes. The collection changes almost every week. Browse around and you will find a dress, shirt, or shoes you will really like. You can buy stuff here that is hard to find in other places. We like to look at the dresses on the wall. He reserves the best to show off from his collection. I love going clothes shopping here. During the holidays the staff designs the window space with the holiday theme. So rude. The guy at the cashier couldn't understand what I was saying and was being so rude about it. The prices are also very high for a thrift store. And when I went to pay for it he handled the merchandise so aggressively and it was ceramic; he just threw it about. I would not recommend this place at all. read more

I recommended yes, beware about this one particular worker who is always rushing through impolitely telling you he needs to get through when the isles are narrow and you can only do so much to let others pass by. This is my last review for 2018 and it's unfortunate that I can't write a positive one. I've been donating to this thrift shop for more than 10 years. It seems that the owner changed or the clerk today was ignorant and rude person. I will definitely re-consider coming here again to donate. Four stars is relative to other thrift shops the area. I come in here pretty regularly since I moved to the area but have yet to find anything worth buying, or at least that is my taste.. Every time I walk past this place I always stop and look at the books on the table they keep outside. I've found a few cool and unique books but not a lot. I don't really look to hard, but it's nice distraction. I've never really looked around in the inside, but when pay for the books it looks a bit crowded and hard to search for anything. The one interesting weird thing they do have that I don't think won't be sold anytime soon is a life size gold bust of Obama. I think some artist donated. read more

I've learned not to expect much from thrift stores in NYC. Either they have 'vintage' aspirations with matching price tags, or they're depressing hellholes where the best you'll find if you hunt is a rat's nest. But Sunnyside Thrift was quite pleasant. It was clean, well lit, fairly spacious, had a dressing room built into the back wall, very nice employees, and a good selection of clothes at reasonable prices. It's been hit or miss for me, though my favorite find were the bright orange bell bottoms it looked like Marcia Brady must have donated [sadly I had to leave them, they were crazy tiny and my ass is crazy big]. However those kinds of clothes don't seem to be the norm here - better suited if you're looking for cheap trousers for work or normal casual wear. So yeah, not a wacky tacky 80s prom dress kinda thrift place... unless those bell bottoms are still there. read more

I have been going to this thrift store for over a year. I have donated many bags of clothing since then. I usually buy some pieces in the shop and would ask for a better price and would get a deal, which was awesome! Who doesn't like to feel like they are getting a good deal? Since the past several months there is a chubby middle eastern man that is behind the counter. He's a bit salty and doesn't like to give discounts. I mean lets face it, these items are completely donated to this store...Not sure if its a for profit thrift store or benefits organizations or charities. How can you go for giving people a deal to all of a sudden not? Seems strange and it's not fun anymore. I miss the other guy who ran that shop. Hope he can come back and work at that location. I was really impressed by this place and wish I could've spent more time going through the racks. I was only in for pants and dresses and found a ton of options, as well as some surprise shoes. The store is well laid-out, very open, and neatly organized. The dressing room was also clean and bright, which is a plus. Just wish they had more than one. I just went thrift shopping with a few of my friends today in the Sunnyside neighborhood and I must say out of the 3 thrift stores we went to, this was the best. It was a relief to see everything so organized cause we had just been to the really messy Goodwill where we had to dig through the clothes that were dumped into the .. carts so yes, it was a real relief to see the clothes all hanged, books all neatly organized, etc. I think the shop is the perfect size; it's not too big but it's not too small. Dont you hate it when you go into a really big thrift store and start out all optimistic and as the hours tick by your optimism starts to go down the drain cause you havent found anything? Yup, not a problem here. I was in this store for approximately 10 mins before I found 2 perfect items. A pair of Nike high tops and a lacrosse windbreaker that said State Champs. They were $18 and $12 respectively. They looked BRAND NEW. I mean $12 for a windbreaker that's not so much of a bargain but it still is cheaper than what you can buy in stores but an $18 pair of Nike Sneakers? THAT'S A HUGE BARGAIN. The owner(?) was really nice as well. Not all up in your face like those people in H&M and Forever21 but those kind of people who would gladly help you if you went up to them and asked questions to. He was also very considerate as he asked me if i wanted to divide the shoes and the windbreaker into 2 different bags and he also asked if i wanted a receipt. (I was so happy over my purchases i just completely blanked out) I swear this store just made my day and i'm definitely going back again. :D read more

There was some cool used furniture, used books, tons of used clothes and shoes. They also had some crazy miscellaneous items, like ski boots and roller skates. I also saw the books and vinyls, both were well stocked in a random assortment. My number one issue with the store is that nothing is organized, it's impossible to easily find something you want. If you look hard, you will find something unordinary, new, cool or exciting. read more
