Two plant pots I bought at restore (not including the plants)
    Marzena F.

I decided to check the restore habitat for humanity store in Chicago because when I lived in Canada our restores were amazing. The restore in chicago is a fair size. There is free parking. The content is 75% junky but maybe 25% bits and pieces of average Reno supplies if you need a one off item. I decided to buy two plant pots which were made of plastic but really nice. I was surprised by the prices. $10 for a medium size pot and $20 for a larger pot. For something that was donated the price was as if I purchased it brand new at a hardware store..I was a little disappointed. I was also surprised there was tax on the items. For a non profit charitable company normally items like this are tax exempt but i am new here so I'm still learning the ins and outs :) The store is far north. It is a hit and miss type of place. I wouldn't go out of my way to go to again like I would in the Canadian stores. But if you're in the neighbourhood check it out. The staff are very friendly. They do take credit debit and cash.

    Has internal parking also

Came here after reading the reviews and I will come again. The deals and materials found here were good. A bit of a drive but def worth it.

I love thrifting and buying second hand and was so excited to see a new option close to me. I slipped my plans for Thrifty Thrift in with some other errands on a Sunday. They are open 12-5 on Sundays and it was between 12pm and 1pm that I stopped by. They had a sign out on the sidewalk that said they had parking, but I'm not sure what parking is actually for them. I parked in a lot that was just East of the store (the direction I was traveling). It had snowed in the few days prior to my visit and Thrifty Thrift did not have any of the sidewalk in front of it's store shoveled or salted. I'm not sure if it's not required or they think customers won't appreciate it or maybe I just happened to be by on a day that they didn't have enough staff to get it done, I'm not sure. Inside this store feels very much like a cross between a flea market stand and a small second hand store. It's relatively tight inside with all available space used. Every surface has more items available. There are clothes racks in the back, they are too tight for 2 people to look at the same row at once. This is a place that somehow felt like it had so much and nothing all at once. If you're a thrifter, this is definitely a spot you need to dig through and if you find what you're looking for it was exactly perfect and if you didn't find what you were looking for, then you found nothing. IYKYK. There was one man working at the front, and I was greeted. He was not overbearing and did not speak to me again, and I did not have any questions to ask. I didn't purchase anything on this stop so can't speak to overall price of items. I'm not sure this will be a stop for me regularly, but if you're looking for a particular thrifted good, this could definitely be an option. I do always appreciate a non-corporate option for second hand buying. Thank you, Thrifty Thrift!

I think they're a fairly new establishment which opened over a year ago. I've gone twice in the past month. The prices are crazy excellent where you can find quality clothes if you dig deep enough. Clothes are available for all sexes and age ranges. They don't just sell clothes either. There's a good variety of things for sale like basic housewares, accessories, music, movies and comic books. I even saw a few items like tool sets, a set of golf clubs and a vintage Nintendo Cube set for sale. On both occasions, I spent an hour here and never left empty-handed. Look out for their 50% color tag sales that are generally offered daily. That's where you'll find the biggest savings. The only downside is that they don't have a dedicated changing room but they offer their single occupancy bathroom as their changing room. Disclaimer, the bathroom/changing room did not smell pleasant. It had a strong sewage stench. Hopefully their bathroom sitch gets fixed with time. At least they offer poo spray in the bathroom. If you have a sensitive nose, you may want to avoid. Another disclaimer - All items are final sale. They give no returns and no store credit is offered. They accept cash and card payments. There is free parking in the public lot to the right of the store. Currently open Tuesday - Sunday but check Yelp or call for their store hours. Happy shopping!

I stop by on Sunday late afternoons on my way home and it's as fast as hitting one extra red light. One block off touhy, you simply pull up and there's an overhang to protect from sun or rain. There are two lanes so I've rarely had to wait. When I pull up, immediately an employee comes out wheeling a cart and helps load my things into it. Then I'm on my way again. I've never had donations be this easy. I'm finally taking the time to write this review because as I was dropping off my mom's things last night, I accidentally kept my Irish cap and scarf on the donation bag and realized when I got home! Ack! They had sentimental value and I hadn't meant to donate them. I was concerned this would be circus getting them back. But I called immediately, spoke with an extremely diligent and gracious manager who found them within minutes (he said it helped that I called immediately). He said it happens all the time and he is just so grateful for people donating things and wants them tog et their things back in these situations. I drove back and retrieving my items was quite simple. Highly recommend if you're looking for somewhere to donate
