When you drop a lot of weed, you don't want to have to replace your whole wardrobe at premium prices. I picked up some great pieces for someone. My age, things like Liz Claiborne and Ann Taylor dresses & blouses. I found a great pair of Michael kors pants, too. But my absolute favorite find was a pair of Sergio Valente jeans from the very early '80s that I coveted when I was young. I never had them, I wanted them, and they fit! They look brand new and we're only $7.99. My daughter bought a whole bunch of stuff including a really cute hello Kitty sweater. We got so much stuff. We overfilled the bag and still only paid 60 bucks. I can't wait to go back, there is so much stuff. You do have to wait on a long line to check out. However, I thought it was worth it considering how much we brought home.

The group of ladies who keep this place going curate it nicely for each season and rotate in and out decor for all the major holidays. The home goods section is pretty stocked too. They've got picture frames and art, baskets, glassware and mugs, plates and platters. Lots of treasures if you take a few minutes to check the shelves. Currently they are bursting with bunnies and all things green. Next up will be loads of colorful platters and such for your summer bbq's and then they'll roll in the pumpkins and all the fall things. The kids section is a fav. They've got it nicely organized with various toys, puzzles, games and lovies. Recently scored a baggie of plastic dinos for $1. My 2yo was pretty pumped especially when I pull the T-Rex out of the bag. Books are located at the back and range from 50 cents up to a couple bucks. There are shelves of kids books, cookbooks, fiction novels, etc. All in pretty good condition too. Left recently with a couple kids books that looked brand new. The clothing section is one that I haven't dove too far into.. yet, as I never seem to have enough time/without a child to be able to go through the racks. But there's a ton of stuff to look through. Women's clothes, men's clothes and kids clothes. Plus a few racks of accessories and shoes. I have peeked at prices as I wondered past and there really are some awesome deals to be had if you have the time. A couple random tips for shoppers: The shop is open weekdays and then one Saturday a month. That Saturday is packed. Every single time I've gone. And sometimes with overly aggressive bargain hunters. If crowds are not your jam then I suggest going on a weekday. The shop is a very decent size but they've also packed a lot into it so the aisles are not wide... and it is not easy to navigate a stroller through. Trust me I've tried. If you need a stroller to be able to do some shopping then I, again, I recommend going on a weekday. Bonus tho - the shop is accessible! Enter on ground level and no steps to worry about.

It seems as though this year I've entered into my thrifting era and in recent months I've visited…read morethe NFSB Thrift Shop a handful of times.. each time discovering a new trove of treasures. For those who haven't been in a minute, or haven't visited at all - there are actually (2) thrift shops to see. The main building (at 169 Chestnut) houses majority home goods with a handful of clothing and a section for kids/toys and pets. Across the street (162 Chestnut?) is where you'll find larger furniture pieces and the majority of clothing/shoes/accessories. Both spaces are laid out nicely, not overly crowded and organized. There are plenty of volunteers in both shops to assist you if needed. During my most recent visit I found (and brought home) a small near perfect milk glass mixing bowl (no doubt from someone's grandma's kitchen) for only $2. Others around me purchased a stack of plates, a beautiful oversized basket, a guitar! There really does seem to be a little bit of everything in the shop, and something for everyone. I thought prices were fair - drinking glasses are $1 unless otherwise marked. Picture frames were a dollar or two and it seems like they are often having a BOGO sale on those + artwork. They've got a kitchen section, an area of holiday decor, etc etc etc. Street parking is easy-ish and close to Rt 3 shopping [in Clifton].. so really a nice spot to stop in if you're in the area and find yourself zig zagging through Nutley trying to avoid traffic on Rt. 3.

Repeated Poor Staff Behavior - Buyer Beware…read more I visited the Habitat for Humanity Restore on Sunday, March 15th, for my third visit to the store. On my first visit, I was assisted by a gentleman whose attitude I would describe as inconsistent (nice/nasty)--both nice and dismissive at the same time. I purchased several items that day, and he helped load them into my vehicle. I decided to overlook the attitude because I was happy with my purchases. On my third visit, I unfortunately encountered the same individual. Once again, he displayed the same inconsistent nice/nasty attitude. While loading a large purchase into my vehicle, I suggested a different way to place an item so it would fit more easily. He followed my suggestion, and the item fit perfectly--but he seemed visibly upset and brusque afterward. As I stepped back to take one last look around, I overheard him making unprofessional comments about me to two other staff members. When I approached the staff area to address this, he claimed I was unappreciative, which is not true, and added that he didn't work for another store, seemingly implying I was unreasonable. Two other staff members were clearly embarrassed by his behavior, but nothing was done to remedy the situation. While the store offers great deals, repeated disrespect from the same staff member on multiple visits is unacceptable. I cannot recommend this store based on my experience. Buyer beware.

I love this place, I try to come at least once a week because you never know what treasures you…read moremight find. Nowadays, most thrift stores put anything of value on Ebay or Amazon. That's why so many thrift stores are selling only lesser value items or junk. But here, they don't sell online and that's a big plus for their customers. The good stuff is still in the store and on their shelves. They are also reasonably priced. Save yourself shipping charges by stopping in and having a browse. Even when I am not looking for anything specific, when I find myself driving down Route 46 East and I see the Essex Diner, that is my cue to take the U-turn and drop in to check out any new merchandise they might have. Too many thrift stores are also in sketchy neighborhoods with cramped parking lots. Not here, they have a giant parking lot and they are in a very safe neighborhood. One less worry on your mind. And they are always looking for some good donations. So, if you have an old camera gathering dust, why give it to a relative where it will spend decades more in another closet or draw. Donate it! And whether shopping or donating, you are helping to change people's lives. That alone makes the trip worthwhile.
