I visited with my family this past weekend. My parents don't eat out much, so I wanted to treat them. Our waitress, Amber, was very friendly and personable. She made great recommendations based on our dietary needs. Everything was excellent including the portions for the price. Apparently this is the place to be in Wedowee, AL. I would say 15% percent of the population were present and accounted for this past Saturday night. Wedowee has been a dry county up until very recently when beer and dancing was brought back into the county. With that came Hacienda margaritas. Hacienda is a fairly large Mexican restaurant and appropriately so as there was a huge line when we got there. Luckily the line moved quickly and we were seated in 5-10 minutes. Chips and salsa showed up as soon as we were seated. I ordered the Mexican soup which was okay.. would not recommend. My friend ordered the fish tacos which looked really good and she seemed to enjoy. I think the winner was the steak Hacienda chimichanga. Which was a burrito filled with steak, deep fried, covered in cheese and then served on a fajita platter. 3 stars but a bonus star for being a find in such a small town. read more

They used to have the best food, but the quality has come down. The last time I ordered chicken nachos, most of the chicken shreads are huge pieces and not really as good. The music is so loud, it's hard to carry on a conversation, no need in it being so loud. read more

Let me be clear on this restaurant. The plates are huge. If you can eat the whole thing, you are certainly over weight or heading there fast. We split one plate between three. The chips are made there. The salsa is the best I have found in over 50 miles and obviously freshly prepared. Some nut said it came out of can. I wish it did, I would buy it all of the time. A reviewer that moved to Wedowee from FL complained about them having only a few vegetarian options. Mexican restaurants don't serve vegetarian options. Country towns in the south are not going to have vegetarian selections beyond a salad, which the restaurant has or just ordering the food minus the meat. If you don't like that, maybe prepare your meals at home or drive a long distance to a vegetarian options. Of course, I laughed when I read the review and then looked at her other reviews and figured out she is living in the wrong place, since she complains about everything. If good Mexican with meat is not your thing, don't stop. If you like good tasting spicy Mexican, here it is, enjoy. read more

I drove 30 minutes to eat here. I checked to see what time they closed, I was good. When I arrived the open sign was on the door but the door was locked. I was there an hour before closing. I don't have much money and gas is pricy these days to be driving for nothing. This place doesn't value people. I wont be making a second trip since they are now unreliable. read more

Surprising good Mexican for such a small city (Wedowee. pop: 823.) We arrived on a Saturday evening for dinner and the place was packed. Luckily we didn't have to wait too long and were seated in about 5 minutes. After being seated the waitress took our orders and brought us chips and salsa. I really like that the restaurant gives you the salsa in a carafe and you can pour your own into a small bowl! As a starter we ordered some cheese dip to go with the chips and salsa. Unfortunately the cheese dip was a miss and didn't have much flavor. For the main course I ordered the beef chimichanga which was alright. I thought that the chimichanga could have been crispier. The chimichanga plate was $9.99 and came with rice and refried beans. The rice and beans were cooked properly and tasted good. read more

One of very few options in Wedowee. There were maybe 4 cars in the parking upon our arrival around noon with only 2 occupied tables. We were just early because soon thereafter the place got super busy fast. This was my first visit and based on today there will definitely be a second. 7.99 lunch buffet plus drink Ordinarily I would be afraid of a Mexican buffet but this one looked surprising good so we gave it a shot. 3 kinds of fajitas, quesadillas, burritos, pork verde enchiladas, traditional beef enchiladas; rice, beans fresh house made chunky guacamole and fresh pico. There were upward of 20 different dishes. The buffet was amply stocked, maintained and monitored the entire time we were there. The establishment appears to have been recently renovated on the interior and exterior. The interior was clean. The service was prompt and friendly. A very enjoyable experience. One of the top 2 places in town to dine... this place was likely a step or 2 better than your average dime a dozen Mexican joints. read more

This restaraunt sits in Wedowee,AL off of 431. We were driving by and saw a lot of cars and decided to try it. We were seated immediately and the waitress greeted us not too soon after. She took our drink orders and I asked what would she suggest. She suggested the Hacienda Special which was grilled chicken, grilled shrimp over Mexican rice and cheese sauce drizzled over. My husband had the Tacos Carne Asade . He loved the tomatillo sauce that came with it. He is from Texas and said this so far was the best Mexican food he has had in Alabama. Our son had the Chicken Soup and it was awesome!!! The broth was excellent. The chicken cooked perfectly. We will definitely come back when in the area. read more
