We got takeout here because it was the closest thing to our hotel. The building is right next to a grocery store and strip mall off the highway, so it's pretty convenient. We never dined in, but the inside looks like your typical Mexican restaurant. They always seem busy, which is a good sign. I've ordered mostly over the phone, but everyone I've spoken to was friendly and helpful. I got the carnitas street tacos, which literally is pork on a tortilla-- no extras. I didn't know they had a DIY toppings bar inside the restaurant until the next time we ordered food. Unfortunately, my tacos were dry, cold, and kind of dosappointing. I ended up getting them a second time because I figured they just had a bad night. This time, I added cheese and got toppings from the bar. It made it better, but the meat was still dry and cold. It's like they made everything earlier that day and just heat it up as needed. My husband got 6 ground beef tacos with only cheese. Pretty basic, but he was happy. Both our meals came with chips and salsa. I've had better, but I've also had worse. I typically put salsa on everything, though. If I were to eat here again, I'd probably want to eat in house. I gave 3 stars mostly for speed and service. read more

We were over the moon to find a "Mexican" restaurant out here that had glowing reviews. We saw one patron on Yelp say "best pastor taco south of Buford Hway" and we were sold. Sigh* but we were let down. We happily waited 10-15 minutes to get a table and was salivating at the food on the menu. The restaurant was so cute that it added to our excitement. Then we sat down for the chips and salsa. Chips was nice and fresh, just the right amount of thickness - lovely! Then we dipped into the salsa and it was such a disappointment - we were immediately hit with that canned tomato taste ... with a sprinkle of fresh cilantro, onions and some spice. We tried to power through it, but couldn't get over that "canned" taste. After that, we just lost complete interest. To us, salsa is a huge part of the experience as this not also goes on the chips, it also goes on everything else that we are eating :) So, with that, we bid this place adios and headed somewhere else a bit heartbroken and still hungry AF lol. 2 stars since the 3 chips I ate were fresh and crispy :D read more

I got a "steak" taco that was just beef in a POOL of grease and fat on the tortillas. It took me like 30 seconds to drain the grease off the tortillas, and they were totally saturated by the fat. I couldn't eat it. Just took it to go and threw it out in the parking lot. No bueno. read more

Was visiting my parents and they wanted Mexican so tell me why I paid this place $40 to forget the tortillas for our fajitas, these SAD street tacos and to stand around for my takeout while the cashiers argued about tips for 5 mins. Highly recommend the chicken soup.. i know that sounds a bit weird but OMG THAT SOUP man I order it every time I go that or the Barbacoa tacos. Not my favorite barbacoa but you can't beat home made! However that soup I can't even replicate it right.. I've tried and tried but can't seem to get the ratios right but anyways definitely try it! This place was highly recommended as the best Mexican food in Carrollton. It was okay, but I hope we can find better. The prices were reasonable. Nothing was bad. It just wasn't special. We had chips & salsa, chimichangas, enchiladas, rice, beans, & a big frozen margarita. The chips were thin & warm, which we liked, but they were bland. The salsa was good. The chimichanga wasn't fried much, if any, so it was just a burrito. Tasted good, though. The enchilada sauce looked like it would be good, but it had little flavor. They put lots of seasoned beef in each enchilada & it tasted good. The rice was uneventful, & the beans had a greasy consistency but didn't taste greasy. A Mexican restaurant can win or lose me with the house frozen margarita. The price was good, but the house frozen margarita had a bite. A little too tangy/bitter for us, but that's subjective. It wasn't bad. The two of us polished off a 24-oz fishbowl-size large. Again, it wasn't bad, it just wasn't special. San Antonio Hacienda won't be our go-to Mexican place, but many of our friends love it, so I'm sure we'll be back. read more

A really good place to eat. We had quesadillas and a taco salad that were very delicious! The service was very good and the atmosphere was good. This pains me to say, as I grew up with The Lazy Donkey as my go-to Mexican food in Carrollton. But, I have to be honest, Hacienda San Antonio blew them out of the water this visit. Things to know: 1. In the South, things are defined by what they used to be. This used to be the Wendy's. They didn't really change the layout, so it's still got that vibe inside. That said, they added a bar, tvs, colorful tables and chairs... It's designed to look and feel "Mexico". 2. On the weekends, there will be a wait. And that starts earlier than you think. And you can't get on the list until you arrive. Plan accordingly. 3. During your wait, you will be given a buzzer. You can't go that far away with the buzzer and there's not much there. Just sit in your car or bring a chair. Otherwise you are sitting on the curb or the one bench inside. 4. You can sit at the bar! This is my secret tip for reading this far. When you check in, ask about bar seating and jump the line! 5. Drinks are good, call the tequila if you like good stuff, they have it. Get 'Texas style' margaritas, it's a better experience. 6. There's a huge menu, take your time, plenty is good. I liked the street tacos with cheek and tongue for something a bit different. 7. Every meal should end with fried tortilla and ice cream. Get it. I visit here often and have never been disappointed. My very first visit had me sold. The food is always hot and taste fresh. One of the servers has seen me so often he knows my salsa preference and drink order. He never assume I'm going to have a drink and asks but every time I've said yes, he knew exactly what to bring me. I like dining at establishments that have great service and treat me well. Best thing about this restaurant is the little buffet bar with different salsas and taco toppings. This has quickly became my favorite Mexican in the area and to be honest I don't think it's close.
