A good old-fashioned meat market, in business since 1882! Highly knowledgeable staff helped a lot with so many choices! Walleye filets, Heggies pizza and Bridgeman's ice cream! Steaks, food ready to heat, bread for sandwiches; if you can't find it here, you don't need it. They even sell thick sliced bacon by the slice! Will definitely be back.

Absolutely superb--from the selection to quality of meats to the wonderful service. Doesn't get any better than this! Be sure to pick up some of their gorgeous short ribs. read more

I always feel like I'm stepping back in time when I enter Hackenmuellers. I stumbled upon it when eating at Travail about 1 1/2 years ago. I think my husband actually died and went to heaven. He loves meat, literally all meat and he tries to make a trip here at least once a month. There are always a ton of people there on Saturdays but they work the standard number system and the transactions always go smoothly. Besides, waiting 5 minutes gives you the time to peruse all their fine meats. We have gotten chicken, ground beef, beef sticks, jerky, roasts, and cole slaw from HM's. I have never been disappointed. In fact when we had inquired about meat for shish kabobs the butcher went into the back and had the perfect chicken cuts. The staff here is amazing and truly are there to help you get the best meat for your meal. We have always gotten the fresh meat but they do have stocked coolers if you are in a rush. I haven't tried any of their seafood yet but it is on my list! read more

Really like this old school butcher shop. Just picked up a bag of smoked ham hocks and they were amazing. Would like to see a better selection of sausage and cured meats but they have great service and knowledge and always willing to help, give recipes and advice. read more

I grew up in Robbinsdale, and now live in Crystal. I remember my mom taking me to "Hack's" to get meat for dinner, and I would always beg her for a meat stick for the ride home (about 3 minutes long haha). When you walk in, it smells absolutely amazing! My all-time favorite from Hacks (and quite possibly my most favorite meal ever) is their stuffed pork chops. They are to die for! Thick-cut pork chops stuffed with stuffing. And not your dry, bland Thanksgiving stuffing - no, this stuff is beyond delicious! I can't say enough fabulous things about them (or Hacks, for that matter). My mom's favorite was (and still is) the garlic chicken breast. All-in-all if you are in the area, stop by this place, and you will not be disappointed. My all-time favorite place to get meat for grilling or, really, any time of year! read more

Smoked maple sausage and smoked bacon are amazing! I eat that sausage every morning. Smoked bacon seems much less greasier than anything from a supermarket. I never leave this place without them. They also have good selection of frozen items like chicken or turkey pot pie, meat loaf, egg rolls and other not-so-popular cuts of meat. I always enjoy watching a lady slicing a huge chunk of smoked bacon into slices. read more

People litter the parking lot with shopping carts and there's no reason why the security guard should be grabbing carts as well. Really clean restrooms too!
