This is a old school butcher shop in Wayzata that is one of the only remaining businesses in Wayzata from before the edinafication of Wayzata great meats but the star is there hand made deli lunch service like I said before old school done right and some of the best meats in mn the butchers take time to do it right you will not be disappointed and while there you can get some of the best smoked jerky in all shapes and sizes and you can get small portions and try many flavors all good read more

This review is purely for the food at Village Meats. I ate their fare at a catered graduation party and was able to try the BBQ Pork Ribs, Beans, Potato Salad, and Cole Slaw I would call dibs on these ribs ALL DAY Village's offerings were excellent. It was a mix of classic summer barbecue foods, launched to another level by delicious ribs that had plenty of meat. I am almost beyond words. I recently decided to give these guys a chance rather than purchasing meat products from Lunds; patronize the local family owned businesses. Man do I fell like a fool! My wife went in to pickup 4 8oz filets. 3 looked good but the 4th was literally the tail of the filet rolled up! It's full of grisly fat. What self respecting butcher would attempt to pass this off. I'm going to bring the 4th one in Monday and see how they respond to my compliant. UNBELIEVABLE! read more

They have a quality selection of fresh meats at a decent price. Three stars because their older staff can be very rude. When asked questions they are often terse. That said, the younger staff is amazing and helpful. Quite the opposite of what you'd expect from a butcher shop. Suffice to say, good quality products but a staff that left much to be desired. As a Jerky fan , I was extremely disappointed in this over salted- Sodium nitrite piece of Cowhide they call "Marinated jerky"-- Marinated in Road salt, I presume and so much salt it left my mouth burning, and $16 poorer. read more

Probably the worst lunch burger I have ever had. Sept 18, 2020. The burger was hard and tasteless for a meat market. Lettuce brown and wilted and tomatoes had passed there prime. I definitely will never go there again no matter how good people rave. Potatoe salad got thrown away and wild rice soup tasted like it was from a can. What a waste of money read more

I've never rated a meat market before.... Okay, not an actual meat market. Village Meats in Wayzata is a fantastic butcher shop. The staff is helpful, knowledgeable, and won't judge you if you can't tell your sirloin from your brisket. Also, if you aren't in the mood for grilling or cooking, they also have great reasonably-priced boxed lunches, a wide variety of jerkey and beef (or turkey) sticks, as well as salads, beverages and desserts. We shop for meat at Village and have also used their catering services. Village Meats catered our son's graduation party and they took care of all the details. It's really unfortunate. We have lived near Wayzata for a little over a year and have had this place on our to-do list. However, a call there today to ask about the availability of a ham did not go well. The man was rude and after not even answering what he was being asked, said "thank you for calling" and hung up. Picked up 4 bone in pork chops to grill once I got home and opened the package I realized the chips were all rotten. Next morning I returned to the store to watch the guy sniff the pork chops and agree they were rotten. He then grabbed the remaining porks still left from the previous day and literally touch them to his nose to see if they were bad. After grabbing them with his bare hands and touching his nose the pork chops were put back in the display case. I was offered a credit which I kindly declined I will never go back. nice surprise! went to medina to visit my sis in law and went into village meats to get an idea for bbq. we bought the turkey with bacon wrapped around it, brauts, potato salad and cole slaw. the brauts we bought came in polish and german which was perfect for husband who loves spicy and for me who can't have spicy. the gentleman who helped us took extra time to tell us how to bbq the turkey which came out just right. the salads were good sides. we bought enough food for 7 (plus leftovers) and it didn't make a dent in the budget! will return. read more

Soon after moving to Wayzata in 1994, I discovered Village Meats and have been a regular customer ever since. I love shopping and supporting local businesses like them. It is shops like theirs which give Wayzata a bit of the old Mayberry RFD aura. The owner is very friendly and connected to the community in a lot of ways.
