Well, that was certainly the case with this station. It is pretty fancy, and pretty new as well, but I can't really claim that it is a favourite.

It's confusing to write about Canary Wharf Station now as it's really three stations serving three…read moreseperate lines - the Jubilee and Elizabeth lines, and the DLR (there is a distinction between all three of these some Londoners will insist on making that is technically correct but really just serves to confuse the hell out of non locals) - but all together it's a sprawling set of linked transportation and shopping options unrivaled in London. What Canary Wharf lacks in soul it makes up for in convenience and choice. The whole design is focused around servicing the clinetel of the region, namely white collar business folks who live and work in the area. History was bombed and made obsolete around here so you're not going to find any remenants of the past save the reappropriated docks. But it is quite modern, clean, and bold in its design and feels quite different than anywhere else you'll visit in London. The older Jubille and DLR areas are by far the most useful as they are situated in the middle of a sprawling mall with a variety of good options; you'll find everything from standard convienience like Boots and M&S to more novel offers like the wonderful Tian Tian Market (dedicated to everything East and Southeast Asian cusine) and a local branch of Malin & Goetz. A smaller selection of mostly food options are available at the Elizabeth Line area. Nothing is necessarily architectuarally interesting at any of the areas of the stations per say although they're big, clean, modern and safe. I suppose the Elizabeth Line has a really sort of futuristic strange spaceshiip look to the exterior but you have to pan your eyes away from the fact that one of London's crudiest attempts at Western regional food (Big Easy) is perched up there. There's a least a five minute brisk walk between each of the stations so keep that in mind if you need to switch between them.

It isn't a terminus station, but it is still quite large, no doubt because it does happen to have national rail services stopping here, though they don't always do that because, well, some of them are express as you probably should be catching them at the termini. Finsbury Park is a posh and busy part of North London, not far from Camden Town, and Islington and Arsenal Football Club and all the good stuff. On a match-day, this place can get really busy, with queuing basically all the way from the stadium at the moment, with the stadium and station not coping very well with large crowds. The station is step-free on the Victoria line which is pretty handy, with other stations including Green Park, Euston, Victoria and Oxford Circus also being on that line, meaning you can basically get one tube from here, from most parts of central London. The buses outside the station weren't set out very well, I struggled to find one to get to the stadium and even the station staff has no idea to go, with this being one of the stations Tottenham Hotspur promote to use and even Transport for London, it's ridiculous the staff were running around like headless chickens, unhelpful and unapologetic. The station seemed clean enough, but it seemed a little scruffy around where they were doing some construction work. The Underground trains are inside the station, and the Overground are separate ticket gates outside which was rather maverick. There were no shops outside the station, but there was a retail park across the way however there wasn't really anything one could get from the retail park easily to take with you on a journey such as drinks and snacks, unless you prefer to eat at one of the fast food outlets including KFC and Subway before-hand. Poorly set out station, with many flaws including its' staffs and how it handles any form of crowds. 1*

But I suspect that I have given my reason for that as well. It looks like the Overground has basically repurposed old tracks and turned them into a suburban railway. Saves on fares as you do not go through Zone 1 It is a few minutes walk to and from Camden Town Tube Station, which gets quite congested at the weekends, and is exit only. Entrance to the underground is at the opposite end at Mornington Crescent, a 10 minutes walk down Camden High Street. It is also a short distance to Camden Lock and Regents Canal. Turn right when you come out of the station and walk pass Sainsbury's and you will see Camden Town Tube Station ahead of you, from here is the starting point to the Camden Markets, the Lock, live music venues, and places to enjoy international cuisines. A lively and busy area any day, but especially at the weekends.

Overview: a beautiful station, very big and can be confusing, many stores and food options…read more ---- I stayed a hostel 5 minutes away by walking and this station was so convenient. The architecture was so beautiful at any time of the day. The inside being quite beautiful as well, especially when you walk upstairs overlooking the Eurostar trains and see a couple different statues there. My favorite was the large one of the couple embracing. Platform 9 3/4 is located in this station, for Harry Potter fans, the cart is available during the day to take a picture with for a price, but after hours they remove it and you can still take pics and videos with it! During my stay they had free ice cream outside the station that was super yummy and a nice little treat to have before heading out in my way to the trains. Inside the station are lots of places to eat and has cheap, convenient food spots like Greggs, and nicer sit-down places as well. It can be a bit tough navigating through the station because it's so big (especially when using maps and trying to find places like restaurants inside of the station) but for the train areas just follow the signs and it's pretty self explanatory. They even have a piano for people to play for fun which was cool to see and hear. Scanning in and out of the station is also easy because all you need is a credit/debit card and you don't even need to purchase a ticket which is so much more convenient compared to places in the US or France. ---- Overall: a great station to stay near and to go to, easy-ish to navigate and lots of places to eat at, very beautiful station as well

It is a pretty major interchange though, and when I've been here it has been pretty crowded. It's a decent station station.

There's never a dull moment at this busy dual-served Tube station, you tend to be greeted by dour…read morelooking tramps or propagandists on the morning commute, and the lovely 'BEWARE WARNING: THIEVES OPERATE IN THIS AREA' always makes visiting guests exceptionally receptive to my neighbourhood. Previously served by three tube lines, the eagerly awaited East London line extension (due to be completed in 2010) brought additional sweaty commuters to the morning rush, although the temporary pain will surely remedy the long-term gain. As for the Hammersmith & City line, a friend of mine cunningly refers to it as the Hammersmith & (S)hitty line which I think is a fair assessment, though when it is working well the choice of stations is a good branch to the West. District line-wise, I find that the East serving arm is marginally (I repeat marginally) better than anything involving Earl's Court transitioning, however not a patch on the smooth running Central.
