There are multi…read morelevels and the signage wasn't clear (to me anyway) I found a man with an employee uniform who was able to direct me and give me information about the ticket. He was very nice and helpful. My anxiety was eased! The station is large and bustling I didn't see a lot of seating. It was clean. The Main Street outside the station had lots of shops.

I'll say that this is a pretty good underground station, but it also seems to connect with the…read moremainlines as well, though I'm not all that sure whether I could consider Thameslink to be mainline. Well, it is run by a private company, but its lines are included on the map, and you can use the oyster card on its metropolitan routes, but as it turns out, you can pretty much do that with all of the trains so I guess that doesn't really count. Yeah, I didn't mind this station, but them like with most of them I'm only passing through many of them, and I suspect that if I actually lived in London I'd have a somewhat different perspective.

Due to a lift issue at Harrow and Wealdstone Station, I had to take a half an hour detour out of my…read morejourney to continue on my Southern Railway train to Harrow Station, only to end up waiting for another train to take me back to Wembley Central, which goes on the opposite platform with a working lift, this trip to the station because of this was an unwanted one. Harrow and Wealdstone Station is a train station in the Harrow area of London, and for ticketing it is classed as region 5. This is quite an old station, to the point where it was made a Grade II Listed building in 1990. The worst ever British railway crash in 1952, which killed 112 people also sadly occurred here at this station. The station is managed by London Underground but has both Underground and Overground trains. As mentioned this station is pretty old, and it has nothing too special about it, it doesn't have a lot of shops or coffee-shops in the station. Services from here go into the likes of Milton Keynes, Wembley Central and London Euston, with the London Euston being an Overground or London Midland service, as I recall this calls at Wembley Central, so if you're going to watch a football match at Wembley this station isn't too far away for you in terms of getting a train into Wembley. As mentioned, a decent yet not fantastic overall level of more local train connections run from here to the likes of Watford, Milton Keynes, Wembley and London, and this station isn't terrible but overall as it lacks any special feature, other than being a Grade II listed building, I sadly feel Harrow and Wealdstone Station deserves a two-star rating, which even then is a little generous.

Very quick to get in / out of the station - just mind where you entered and where you exit. Used the Oyster card and found it very easy to tap in / out. The staff working there are very friendly and will help you out if get confused. Just remember they have 4 platforms and the above ground trains help you see that. Found their bathroom & snack shop very useful for the 35 minute trip into London!

Sure, there is an argument that there are a couple of stations nearby by this is on the edge of the old city, so the streets twist and turn everywhere, and half the exits are closed, so getting to the tube can actually be quite tricky at time. Still, it's a station, so you can get to places out of the city reasonably easy. Yeah, I guess privatised railways do create a mess like this.

Fenchurch Street railway station is the City of London's oldest main line station, the smallest,…read moreand also one of the nicest. It is also one of the four stations on the original Monopoly Board. Perhaps these things are not unrelated? The first station in the area was the London & Blackwall railway's terminus in nearby Minories, opened in 1840. These trains ran down to the Thames at Blackwall, and were designed to take traffic from the ferries, which they successfully achieved. In 1841 it was extended close to the city, on the present site. It was rebuilt in 1853-4 to the designs of George Berkeley, in grey stock brick, in a simple classical design with doric pilasters separating round-arched windows, all surmounted by a crescent-shaped pediment, in which is located the station clock. The station also became the terminus of the London, Tilbury & Southend Railway (LT&SR) n 1858, and it is these services - to Tilbury and Southend - which survive to-day. The frontage happily survives almost untouched, and in excellent condition, although the original flat canopy above the entrance has been replaced by a nevertheless attractive zig-zag canopy. It faces a small square, and is delightful in summer sunshine. The same cannot be said of the accommodation behind, where the graceful arched glass train-shed has been replaced by a rather low and dingy ceiling underneath a large office development, although the long platforms do at least have some daylight further out. Its small size means it is also easy to navigate, and there are no long walks to anywhere. The main ticketing facilities and concourse behind are at first floor level: there are escaltors, stairs and a lifts. Toilets (free) are on the ground floor, with all other facilities at first floor level. There are a number of food and drink outlets, a Transport for London help desk, several cashpoints and a small newsagent (W H Smiths) on the concourse. There is also a small ticket office at the Cooper's Row entrance. The station has just two island platforms giving four platform faces, which are used to capacity at peak hours, providing some 20 trains an hour. The services used to be a by-word for awfulness: the LT&SR acronym was reinterpreted as the 'Late, tired and suffering railway' by its passengers. However, the trains are now exclusively operated by the c2c company (c2c = City to coast), with shiny new trains which are among the most punctual in the UK. Fenchurch Street It is unique in London termini in not having an underground connection. The best connection is from the rear exit (Cooper's Row) to Tower Hill station, a two-minute walk away. There is a small taxi rank by the main entrance, but no cycle storage, nor any left luggage facilities.

Tottenham Court Road Tube Station is by far the most posh of the Tube stations that we travelled…read morethrough. The Station is busy with local people traveling to work and tourists coming to shop in the area. The pace is fast with north/south and east/west trains that travel to Heathrow. The walls are freshly covered in white tiles. The station is clean with a very long escalator up and down to the tubes. Escalators are available if you have a stroller or are carrying luggage. The walls are covered with show advertisements. Using credit card to tap on and off is easy. Monitors tell passengers the exact moment a train will arrive. We travelled through the station several times.

We took the Elizabeth Line to avoid making too many transfers even though there were other train stations nearby. We wanted to keep our trip simple and stress free. If you're are travelling here and taking the Elizabeth Line from the airport to the Strand area.... I recommend using a wheeled rolling suitcase. This is what we used and we packed light too so it was easy for us to roll our luggage along the many cobblestone sidewalks. Navigating Tottenham Court Road Station is easy. There are maps located throughout the station so you know where you are and where you're going and which stops to get off and on at. Make sure to have your credit/debit card on hand to swipe through and make the swipe your card again once you get off the train so you don't keep getting charged after you've completed your trip. There's never a dull moment at this busy dual-served Tube station, you tend to be greeted by dour…read morelooking tramps or propagandists on the morning commute, and the lovely 'BEWARE WARNING: THIEVES OPERATE IN THIS AREA' always makes visiting guests exceptionally receptive to my neighbourhood. Previously served by three tube lines, the eagerly awaited East London line extension (due to be completed in 2010) brought additional sweaty commuters to the morning rush, although the temporary pain will surely remedy the long-term gain. As for the Hammersmith & City line, a friend of mine cunningly refers to it as the Hammersmith & (S)hitty line which I think is a fair assessment, though when it is working well the choice of stations is a good branch to the West. District line-wise, I find that the East serving arm is marginally (I repeat marginally) better than anything involving Earl's Court transitioning, however not a patch on the smooth running Central.

Like some Tube stations in Central London, Chancery Lane has no above-ground buildings so you'll…read morehave to be looking carefully for the "Underground" signs in order to spot it. The station was opened in 1900 and is now in Travelcard Zone 1 on the Central Line, between St. Paul's and Holborn stations. It is not step free with both stairs and escalators. Interestingly, the tunnels are stacked, with the eastbound tunnel *above* the westbound with an escalator between them.

Located between Holborn and St Pauls on High Holborn this is a very busy commuter station on the…read morecentral line and is best avoided if possible during rush hour both morning and evening. The place runs smoothly enough with multiple barriers meaning people can move through quickly but trying to get a seat on the train is nearly impossible. Luckily there are frequent trains (like almost every minute) during these times and if you are travelling further east or west most people get off at the surrounding stations both ways. There is also a few newspaper stands outside and shops selling snacks at the top by the barriers

Well, that probably should be surprising considering that Croydon is a pretty major metropolitan hub, so of course there is going to be a pretty large station here. Like a lot of stations, it's not bad at all, and reasonably easy to get around. Oh, and there are lots of shops there as well.

It is a major…read morehub, especially if traveling from Heathrow/west/south/north/basically anywhere around London to everywhere else. For how many people pass through daily, I found it clean - especially compared to a public transport stop in Chicago or NYC. As an American, from Wisconsin, I am essentially ignorant as to how public transportation works. But with a little patience and a lot of assistance from Google Maps and politely asking staff or other travelers, it really isn't as crazy as it seems. I feel like there is decent signage, the key is to research ahead of time what platform you are arriving on and where you need to go next. Also, avoiding the work/school rush hours makes it much less intimidating ;)

That's because it is basically a major interchange station, and it almost seems as if all trains that head to the south of London pass through here. Honestly, it is truly massive. I'm sure Wikipedia has some rather interesting things to say about it, but I can't be bothered looking it up. Anyway, Youtube tends to have somewhat more lively videos that wikipedia.
