I got to be in the bird room office - a corner space with enormous windows on two sides and a view of a bird feeder in a big evergreen tree with tons of cute birds coming and going as you get your teeth cleaned. It was beautiful and relaxing. Dr. Lubbe was positive, fun and answered all my questions. It was a wonderful experience.

I originally went in on an emergency case basis, and have continued my care from there. Dr. Patil is just wonderful. He and his staff made me feel completely comfortable from the moment I walked in. He explains everything clearly, reviews all treatment options, and provides pain free care. I had two root canals performed by him and never felt any pain at all. He even called me personally the morning after a particularly difficult procedure just to make sure I was feeling well. I have never felt so at ease at the dentists office! Their appointments do book up quickly, but you can always leave a note that you would like to come in earlier for an appointment should one open up (and they actually follow up for you!). Aquidneck Dental still gets a 5 star rating from me BUT Dr Ruel gets a 0 rating!…read more Disappointing Denture Relining Experience with Dr. Ruel I had a highly unsatisfactory experience with Dr. Ruel at Aquidneck Dental in Portsmouth for a hard relining of my dentures, which cost $1,600. My upper denture was initially comfortable, with only a minor thin spot prompting the relining, but my lower denture was problematic, requiring denture adhesive before meals and still becoming loose during eating. Dr. Ruel, nearing retirement and working only one day a week, scheduled my impressions for the following week, promising a next-day turnaround. However, when I called to confirm post-relining care for potential sore spots, the office assured me Dr. Ruel would be available. Upon dropping off my dentures, he then informed me they would take a week, contradicting his earlier promise. After I reminded him of his initial claim, he made a brief call to the lab and stated they could deliver the next day. I suspect he was reluctant to come in on his day off, leaving me without dentures for longer than expected. When I received my dentures, the upper plate was uncomfortably tight, and the lower plate felt unchanged, as if no work had been done. After pointing this out, Dr. Ruel reduced the charge to $800 and offered an immediate soft relining. Unfortunately, the soft relining was poorly executed: the lower plate had untrimmed excess material and there are sharp edges on the outer teeth, while the upper plate's roof lining felt like sandpaper, causing significant soreness in the roof of my mouth. I had to return multiple times, waiting a week between appointments, to address persistent sore spots and problems. The teeth still feel unpolished and rough. Now, my upper denture requires adhesive to stay in place--unlike before--and moves when chewing tougher foods like steak. The lower denture is so loose that I need to re-apply adhesive multiple times during a single meal. Overall, my dentures are in worse condition than before, and I'm don't think they can be fixed. I strongly advise against seeing Dr. Ruel, who has since relocated to Tiverton. This review pertains solely to Dr. Ruel's service, not the other excellent dentists at Aquidneck Dental in Portsmouth.

I will try my best to be fair and succinct in this review. I…read morehave now been a patient for over 5 years at this office. On my initial call to them, I made it very clear that I wanted to be a patient of one dentist and one hygienist. I was told that would not be a problem. I originally met with Nathan Tillman. At first things seemed fine, but as the months passed and I needed follow up visits, it became clear that I would be seen and treated by any dentist available. This does not in my experience fair well for continuity, consistency or trust. A few years back, I needed to have a tooth extracted and I was sadly scheduled with Dr May. He not only failed to extract the tooth, he also failed to properly place the bone graft, leaving me in tremendous pain and two weeks later, I honestly had to have a second extraction on the same tooth. (I do not wish this on my enemies) Then I had to fight to get the office to remove the charges for the failed bone graft. Needless to say, over the last two years it has been sketchy at best. Statements are rarely if ever sent. Over a year ago the office stopped taking my insurance and never sent me any official statement explaining why. The last example is the reason why I reviewing now. I was seen a few weeks ago to have a limited exam and some very minimal treatment done. The female dentist told the assistant to get me a treatment plan for Botox injections. Once I got to the front, I was never given any treatment plan, I was never asked for any payment and I left. I received an actual statement last Friday. I reviewed the statement and saw that there were a few errors in the charges. One example I am happy to share was they charged me for a filling on a tooth that has been gone for over 3 years. I called on Monday to speak with someone. Never got a reply. I walked into the office the next day. Was told that operations manager and doctors were in a meeting and I would get a call after two pm. Now here we are- on Thursday. The only correspondence that I have received is a confirmation text. So I called this morning and told the front girl to cancel all appointments and deactivate my account. She didn't even ask me why. This was a terrible experience and I hope that by sharing all that I have, a few of you will make educated choices and find another practice for your dental needs.
