I'm very happy with their oil service. However I am very unhappy with their furnace service. I had someone come out because my furnace Wes making a racket. guy comes in says there is nothing wrong with your furnace it's the batteries in your thermostat. changed the batteries adjusted the flame and he left. O e week later I have key come. ThDre is a while I. my heat extender so they red tag it. thankfully I was able to get someone to replace my furnace within two days. I emailed haffners and never heard back. I will never use their furnace service again read more

We switched an oil account to Haffner/Energy North from another local provider. We also had them install a new Oil furnace/boiler. While oil delivery service has been satisfactory, the install was overpriced and raised questions about the integrity of Haffner's/Energy North. We had a proposal from our former dealer to install a Buderus boiler based system. I asked the Haffners team for a proposal and price to install a system of equal quality and especially efficiency. Haffner's proposed to install a Peerless boiler based system. In multiple discussions, that system was represented to be of the same quality and efficiency as the Buderus. Those representations proved to be not accurate. I later learned that while Peerless is a very well regarded brand, it is of lesser quality and lower efficiency than the Buderus. This first came to light when one of the Haffner's technicians who installed the Peerless system acknowledged those facts in conversation after the install. I was very disappointed and immediately raised concerns about the inaccurate statements and the lack of value in what Haffner's had installed. They "met the price" of the Buderus proposal [their original price was higher for the Peerless system]. When I challenged Haffner's supervisory staff, they offered a $100 dollar price accommodation. Given the discrepancy in value and efficiency, that did not begin to make up for the inaccurate statements we relied on in accepting their proposal. This was a system for a 95 year old widow, they should have been more honest. I ultimately spoke with a neutral party about the comparison between the two boilers - a 30+ years in the business plumbing and heating professional who has worked in my home [the system at issue was for my elderly mother] for two decades. He said while Peerless is a good quality unit, it is not at the level of the Buderus. He said in his entire career, he never had experienced a defect in a Buderus device. He also explained the difference in efficiency. In the peerless boiler, heat is transferred in a single pass around a heated chamber. The medium to be heated in the Buderus system passes three times, transferring more heat for each unit of oil burned. That information only increased my disappointment with what Haffner's's/Energy North represented to me and how they treated my mother once the inaccuracies and unfairness were brought to their attention. Conclusion: Good service and low oil prices. But pay attention to what is represented about equipment quality and efficiency. In retrospect, we should have stuck with the competing local dealer and installed the Buderus based system. read more

This is for all haffners customers. I'm 73YO, grew up in Lawrence mass, where haffners had its hone base. It was owned by Louise haffners Fourier, the founders daughter. She was a great person, and ran a great company. Under her ownership, haffners always had the lowest oil prices in the merrimack valley. But now, after the family sold the company, they are no longer the lowest. Another local company, always has their heating oil at least 20 cents per gallon less. That's a lot when you're buying 150 gallons. SO SHOP AROUND. read more

Place is trash small over crowded office. Paid them cash 320 to fill 150 gallons of home heating oil. Their service rep said my tank is bad which is false. And after i told them id be changing oil companies they said they would mail a check back out in two weeks. Im between 1/4 and empty they filled my tank less than six months ago it wasn't an issue then. They also wanted to come into my house for some weird reason while i wasnt home and my 15 yr old daughter was there. Said they wanted to see the furnace but wasnt there for any servicing of my furnace. Sketchy. Anyways the money to heat my oil i wont have for a week which then ill run out of oil. Ill get a check then ill have to take my time out of my day to go cash to have the teller tell me they have to charge me to cash a check. They couldnt have told me last fill to save up for a tank scumbags. Dont use haffners that used to be hartmann oil. Use Mackenzie heating ‍ read more

We bought a house (17 years ago) with a hartmann gas tank in the back yard. At times they have been fantastic, assisting when funds were lacking, however lately they're "use space heaters until we can fill your tank" and "you can only set up a payment plan in June" is a bit much. I may be stuck with them, but i will spend the money for better customer service.... read more

ABSOLUTELY NO CONCERN about our emergency situation. We have been a customer for six years. After our generator was installed, we purchased our propane tank and fuel from Hartman. At the beginning of December, I called to order a delivery of propane to ensure that I would begin the winter with a full tank. I was asked how much fuel I currently had. At the time, I had 40%. I was told that I needed to call them back when I was at 20%, as well as I would be charged a significant fee, if I was at more than 20%. On December 23 we had the wind storm that took out our power. When our generator kicked in, we were at 29%. After 29 hours of generator power, we were now down to 11%. It was the morning of Christmas Eve, I called Hartman to request an emergency delivery. I was told that there was going to be a fee of $155. I had no problem with the fee as I realized it was Christmas Eve as well as an emergency delivery. When I told the woman I spoke with the town I was in, I was told that there were no drivers anywhere near me, also, that it was Christmas Eve, and they did not want their drivers out late and then proceeded to tell me that I should try to find another company to service my needs. This was great advice! I did find another company to service my needs. I called another company at 5 PM on Christmas Eve as the temperature was now 15°. I have a disability which has me in a wheelchair, so I was truly feeling the cold at this point. The company I called was here within one hour, filled my tank and had my generator back up and running. This company also had an emergency service fee which was even more than Hartmans emergency service fee. I was more than glad to pay this fee to a company that went above and beyond for someone who was not even a customer. They now have a new customer. I will be using them for all of my generator and fuel needs. Thank you, Hartman for absolutely NOTHING. read more

I have used Hartmann oil for over thirty years.I think I am one of Andy's first customers. Over the years they have delivered to many of my properties and are always great. The service man came to check for a spring cleaning on a gas furnace. He was very honest and showed me how clean the furnace already was and did not feel I should pay for a cleaning. I switched to another propane supplier who DOES NOT charge a tank rental fee. I called Hartmann to puck up the their tank thst they charged me $100 per yesr rental fee. I asked how we could be certain that i would be reimbursed the correct amount as the tank was full (80 gals). The Hartmann employee said to take a photo of the gauge on the tank. It showed FULL. Hartmann tried to reimburse me for 40 gallons. When confronted, they would not budge. read more

Ive been with Hartmann for 9 years and am completely happy(except on buying the tanks which were pricey considering they were at least a few years old). We pre-buy our propane and when I spot check them, they always have beaten the competition by at least 10c per gallon except once(and then they even matched). I ended up buying the tanks(which came with the house when we bought) from them too after 4 years since I am not going anywhere, and it saves me 20c to 30c per gallon, and since we use anywhere from 700 to 900 gallons per year(like the last 2 yrs have been 900) the tanks will end up paying for themselves in just a few more years and then I just get the savings. Hartmann is a stand up company without a doubt. They have great customer service, and their word is good. With all the questions I have heard about others propane suppliers I am happy to have been using Hartmann, and am surprised they don't have more positive reviews. I know they must not be as big as some of the others, but they deserve to be. read more

Run as quick as you can. They schedule appointments and never show-up, making you lose your whole day waiting around for them. They quoted a price of $169.95 of Burner Tune-Up, which turned out to be $40 - $60 higher than their competitors. Horrible customer service. read more
