While we had limited interaction with Dr. Huber, Dr. Brodie was our Ronnie's favorite veterinarian of all he'd ever seen. He genuinely loved Dr Brodie and would go into the office without hesitation and would lay down on the exam table waiting patiently for his allergy shot and nail trim. Dr. Brodie and his staff were amazing and they are the one thing we knew we'd miss when we left Florida in July. I came into Hagan's Pet Resort on the recommendation of a friend, looking for a second opinion on a diagnosis another vet gave concerning my cat's medical situation. After about a 10-minute wait in the exam room with my cat, I overheard who I assume was Dr. Brodie (because that's who the appointment was set up with), in a very LOUD voice that I could clearly overhear through the closed waiting room door, going on about how he, "DIDN'T WANT TO TOUCH" the issue concerning my cat, "WITH A 10FT. POLE...WHY DOES HE EVEN WANT A SECOND OPINION?!?" He must have said that expression 3x's in the course of his 1-minute rant. Instead of coming into examining room and evaluating the situation and giving me his professional advice on how I should treat my cat next, Dr. Brodie made it VERY CLEAR how he was not interested in dealing with my cat's issue before he even saw my cat. I quickly gathered my cat and left the exam room. I approached the reception desk letting them know I was never seen by Dr. Brodie and that I was leaving, to which they nonchalantly replied, "oh, ok". Before I exited the door, I turned to them and said, "I overheard the Dr. ranting and raving about how he was not wanting to touch my cat's situation with a 10ft. pole from the examining room...very professional (sarcasm)." To which they again replied with another very casual, "ok". No, "Is there a problem?" or "I'm sorry you feel that way that way" or "I'm sorry you had a bad experience", as anyone, who was a professional representing the face of a business, would say if they were even remotely sorry to see a disappointed customer leaving their place of business upset. Never would I recommend this place to any of my animal loving friends who have pets. It's obvious, based on my experience, that neither Dr. Brodie, nor his staff, could actually give a s*** about their clientele's negative experience, or the welfare of their pets. David M. read more

Once again Dr. Brodie and Dr. Huber exceed my expectations for top quality veterinarian service. My dog was coming in to have his teeth cleaned. when I noticed a growth on his ear. Dr Brodie saw him immediately and set appointment to have his teeth cleaned and the growth removed the same day. Dr Brodie's surgical skills are amazing and there is a very minimal scar on his ear, of which his hair will grow back and cover. I also took my cat in to see Dr. Huber for his annual shots. My cat normally will not let anyone near him and will hiss. But Dr. Huber is a cat whisperer. He was not only able to give my cat its shots but was ever so gentle and my cat seemed to warm up to him. My pooch, Daisy, and I saw Dr Brodie today, and Dr. Brodie took the time to explain everything. I was impressed that they read the paperwork from the other vet, and gave her the necessary vaccinations that she needed without giving her vaccinations that she did not need. (I had issues with a prior vet a few years back -not associated with this practice- who gave her a rabies shot that she did not need, even after I told the vet Daisy already had her rabies shot. That vet had the documentation too but obviously did not review the file.) I split my time among different states but always make sure the vets have the file from the other vets. It can get confusing, but I really appreciated Dr. Brodies' professionalism and knowledge regarding my dear Daisy. I was also able to view the boarding facilities, and book an appointment for boarding in a private room with overnight stay. They have the cages to board the dog for cheaper, but I found the price for a private room (no cage) very reasonable. It is a nice sized room with a bed, but I can bring my own bed for her. I can also visit her, as her first owner abandoned her so she is nervous about being left. I also found the bill for the vaccinations, the State license fee, and the examination to be very fair. Overall, I am pleased with this practice and what they offer. They also offered to bathe Daisy for an additional price after her boarding, if I wish. They have different parking lots for the different buildings (vet clinic, grooming, and boarding) and two different driveways. I was a bit confused at first, but know that you can take either driveway to find a parking lot and walk where you need to go. I was going North on Prospect, and the first driveway took me to a parking lot near the boarding. The second driveway would give you more direct access to the vet clinic. Even Dr. Huber greeted me! This is a wonderful place to board your dog. In addition to having actual veterinary care professionals on staff, they've got the equivalent of three football fields of grass for your dog to run around in and play. The staff are all extremely friendly and professional and they usually have availability. They also have cubbies and not crates where your dog sleeps. I wouldn't board my dog anywhere else. I recently moved to Sarasota and was looking for a reputable place to board my dog, as well as a decent vet. Two separate people recommended Hagan's pet resort and spa so I thought I would give it a go. They took exceptionally good care of my dog while I was away and when I take her back she is always happy to go. They were also very good about providing me with how my dog was doing when I called up to ask. The vet which is next door to the spa is also very professional. My dog had surgery on her back leg there. The cost was reasonable, the front of desk staff are very friendly, and both vets that I spoke to were knowledgable and highly professional. We all love our fur babies and if you are like me you would only want to leave them in the best of hands. I will certainly be trusting my dog to them again. read more

The staff is so rude. I am extremely disappointed in the attitude of the staff because this clinic has been so highly recommended to me for years! I've been living in Sarasota for almost 10 years and based on recommendations I thought to myself, "If I ever get a dog, I will bring it to Hagen's". So, my boyfriend and I finally got a dog and drove 30 minutes to get to Hagan's 15 minutes early for our appointment, just to be treated unkindly by most of the staff (except for one very nice and informative middle-aged man with brunette hair who gave us sign-in papers and led us to the exam room). The lady who I set up the appointment with over the phone was nonchalant and impatient. And then the receptionist who I saw upon walking into the establishment was rude. Her first words were not "Welcome to Hagen's. What's your name/do you have and appointment?". Rather, she said, "Do you guys have a dog?" I said, "Yes." She said, "Well you need to wait outside."...that was all. Dr. Huber himself was the most unkind of them all. He was extremely dismissive, condescending and unkind. I was floored. He was with our dog for no more than 6 minutes and was the rudest doctor that I have ever come across. His first words upon walking into the room were, "Let's switch sides here; You're on my side of the table." to my boyfriend. His second sentence was "Did you bring the stool sample?". We explained that no one told us to bring a stool sample, this was our very first dog, etc. He looked at the dog's ears with the otoscope, got verbally frustrated when the dog wiggled, checked the dog's genitals, etc and then pointed to the exit door saying "You have a healthy dog here. See the front desk about your next visit." Not once did he welcome us to his business or give us information or look us in the eyes or even smile!!! This is our first dog and that was our first vet visit with that dog, and I don't want us to give them another penny. I'd rather spend more at another clinic (that is closer) than to drive 30 minutes away to deal with (and pay to deal with, for that matter) rude receptionists and rude vet for the next 10-15 years ...no thanks! They seem to treat most of their clientele nicely and they get a lot of business, so I'm sure they won't be sad to lose us (or even notice that they lost us) as future customers. Perhaps they were ready to end their work day or judged us for some undeserved reason...in any event...I thoroughly hated my experience there (with the exception of our treatment by that one nice man). read more

This is the best groomer I have experienced for both my dogs, Muffin and Koko. My dogs get excited when then know they are going to the groomer... meticulous bathing, shaving and nail trimming!!! Front desk people are great and very helpful and all of the vet techs I've dealt with are very nice and great with my dogs. I took my dog today for the first time. They were great. Very friendly staff. The vet (Dr.Brodie) was patient, explained everything, and answered all my questions. They were also very timely - got us into the exam room right away and we barely had to wait for the vet himself. The only reason I gave them 4 stars instead of 5 is because the medication was very pricey (although the cost of the exam was reasonable). read more

My 4lb Yorkie was left, bathed & brushed, for 4 nites. They returned him to me soaking wet. When I mentioned it they don't take him back to towel dry. When I bath him at home he has dryed faeces in his anus and the surrounding area of hair. SHEER NEGLECT! read more

We have been using Dr Huber for at least 6 years now to take care of our Jack Russell. Dr Huber is excellent, caring and very professional. We've had 2 significant issues which Dr Huber was able to resolve. Most recently we had an emergency at 9pm at night. Dr Huber's recoding has his cell phone number listed for emergencies. We called at 9pm and he answered his phone. We met him at 7:15 am the next morning in the office. I can't say enough good things about the Doctors care he gives. read more

Chester is our 6lb Yorkshire Terrier. He has been treated by Dr Huber & Dr Brodie since his birth. You are made to feel welcome the minute you walk through the clinic door. Both Doctors are kind & professional They spend the time and encourage questions. You never feel rushed. If your pet needs to stay for a procedure, you are kept up to date with the progress & every test is explained in full. All the staff are friendly & forthright, achieving the unusual balance of knowledge & professionalism. It is refreshing these days to deal with such honest & sincere people. A pet is an integral part of your family & should be treated as such. This clinic fulfills these needs. All the staff should be highlighted for the obvious pride they take in their work. They are a credit to their field & should be recognized! read more
