    Sugar apple cider donut
    Olivia S.

Such a great market!! Inside had lots of goodies, but the donut hut was my favorite part. I got two apple cider donuts- one with cinnamon sugar and the other just plain sugar. Their cider donuts are made fresh and are much more fried than the ones I usually encounter- so crispier on the outside- but actually feel so much less heavy in my tummy than other cider donuts I've had! I really loved the cinnamon sugar cider donut that I had for the twist in flavor but the classic sugar was also amazing. I need to come back to try the maple soft serve!!

Hager's Farm Market is located on The Mohawk Trail between Greenfield and Shelburne Falls, MA. It's a "Farmer's Market" that offers a variety of fruits and vegetables, locally produced eggs, meats, nuts, ice cream, and a selection of other foods: jellies, sauces. They also sell wine, soda, water, beer, coffee, tea. You can also come in and order breakfast, soups in the afternoon. I picked up several bottles of a locally made Habanero hot sauce that turned out to be absolutely amazing! Definitely worth stopping in!

This afternoon we stopped in at Hager's Farm Market for lunch after having passed by this shop what seems like a million times. When we pulled in we didn't know what to expect since it was our first visit, but we quickly fell in love with the store. The store itself was packed with a great variety of locally grown and handmade items. To top it off, the smell coming from their bakery goods was so tantalizing we could barely stand not eating everything in the display case. We ended up buying a few samdwiches, an order of french fries as well as mozzarella sticks. Everything was freshly made, the fries were perfectly cooked, and the sandwich bread was incredible. Overall, we loved the food and when my wife had one of their soft serve ice creams she thought it was the best in the area.

Fantastic place to go...just what you expect in a great farm store and much, much, more!

Much More Than You Ever Expected Yep...I am joining the rest of the reviewers so far and letting you know that as of November 17, 2012, this place is still fantastic. This is a no-brainer. You have to stop here and check this place out. This is a farm store at its best...fresh fruits and veggies, local maple syrup, meats, dairy products and cider, specialty beers and wines. There were so many homemade baked goods...cookies, pies (10+ kinds), breads (12+ kinds), pastries, muffins...the list goes on and on. The pumpkin whoopie pies looked amazing. The staff are super duper friendly and helpful. This place is really enjoyed by the locals, which is always a good sign. They were packed in there, some enjoying lunch and others coming in to pick up boxes of pastries. The owner was there during my visit and obviously knew most of her patrons. Everyone was referring to each other by their first names. Lots of smiles and laughter. This place has a nice welcoming and friendly feel. I stopped in to order homemade pies for Thanksgiving because of a radio ad that I had heard earlier in the week. Sounded too good to pass up. Pecan, coconut custard and pumpkin were my choices. I grabbed a bite to eat since it was lunch time. Had the Maple Oinker which was very good...ham, cheddar, dijon mustard, maple syrup, grilled onions on homemade bread. Also had a small order of the hot and crispy homemade french fries and washed everything down with local apple cider. Honestly it was too much for me to eat. On my way out I grabbed a bag of apple cider donuts. They smelled so good that even though I was full from lunch, I immediately enjoyed one at home with a cup of hot coffee. They were good-god-good. I have passed by Hager's for years on route 2 and have watched the building grow and grow. This was my first visit, but will be back again and again. Check out their website. Lots of great info there. They seem to be very socially responsible... focused on the environment with their efforts to be more energy efficient...committed to the community with their fund raisers for local groups. This small place has a lot to offer..a full breakfast menu, lunch menu, catering menu, dessert bar menu, a cakes and cupcake brochure...I picked up a copy of them all. Such reasonable prices with such high quality is hard to find. It's so nice to see a thriving family owned business. Shop locally and shop here. You won't be disappointed.

    About to grab some doughnuts.

This has to be one of the best, if not the best farmers market I've ever been to…read more I felt as if I were on the scene of Robin Hood walking into Sherwood Forest. Soft guitar music playing while all the beautiful foliage surrounds all the various kiosks. Like something out of Pinterest. I feel like the photos don't do the actual experience justice. Overall, I thought the stalls were decently priced and we bought a lot of items ranging from fresh beets, garlic, mixed greens, to fresh cheese, and mushrooms. Apart from food and produce they sell yarn that comes from the wool of local sheep. I saw a distillery stall where they were handing out samples - it had quite the line. A stall that sold dry teas and infused syrups (I bought one actually) Maple syrup, soaps, I could go on. There's a booth for those who use Hip and apparently from $10 you get $30 to spend so it's a place where even those on a low budget can come and take advantage. Then there's the food which, you should definitely try. It was our first time trying food from Afghanistan and it was incredible. They were like these dumplings filled with either meat or squash, we chose the squash, and then it had lentils on top and a rich yogurt sauce that was absolutely phenomenal. I mean, honestly, it was a great experience, and the place itself is so beautiful, it's no wonder that there's lines of cars parked and others waiting to find parking. That's the only drawback, finding parking is gonna be rough, but when you do, ohhh the goodies that await you! I honestly wish I lived here, I'd be at this farmers market every Saturday.

We loved the bread at Orchard Hill Breadworks. Most vendors accept Venmo or card. But the organizers have a clip board / token system that allows you to pay by card. Very affordable! "I look like a farmer But I'm a lover…read moreSo you can't judge a book By looking at the cover" (Bo Diddley) If you ever find yourself in the very cool city of Easthampton, MA, be sure to check out their modestly sized Farmer's Market in the heart of downtown. The market is in a parking lot behind 50 Payson Avenue and during the summer it is open on Sundays from 10-2. There is plenty of parking on the streets that surround the market, or in the park across the street. It's a "Producer Focused" market, meaning that the vendors are expected to "grow, raise, produce, or create their products themselves, or they will provide unique products that represent other local farmers". There was live music on site which was a nice addition to the vendor booths that offered local vegetables, fruits, meats, seafood, dairy, eggs, grains, nuts, flowers, wine, herbs, crafts, clothing, and specialty products. We saw one food truck on site, from the Wicked Whisk.

We stopped by an art booth which provided kids the opportunity to make a cool craft. It was a bird feeder using a cake cone and a string of Cheerios on a pipe cleaner to act as the holder. This was a very creative idea! The gal running the booth was great and she gave our little friend a bag of bird seed to place inside once we returned home. I also stopped by the Creme Bru.LA booth because I freaking love crème brûlée. I sampled 3/4 flavors: maple, earl grey, and sweet corn. All so tasty! We ended up getting one of each and enjoyed them on this warm day at the picnic tables under a tent. I think this is a unique business idea and wish them well. Check them out on IG: cremebru.la. Also they have a market mascot, a tortoise named Tortilla who is the coolest! She was just wandering around the booths having a grand ol' time.

I understand that mushrooms aren't for everybody. Some people love them. Some people hate them…read more Some people like them raw but not cooked. Some people eat them cooked but cower at the sight of them uncooked. That's just the way we are I guess. But mark my words, if you are a mushroom guy or gal, you will flip handsprings at what this company offers. Organically grown wild mushrooms and edible plants are what they sell. I ran into NEWE at the Northampton Farmers Market and struck up a conversation with Paul Lagreze. It took me about 5 seconds to see how knowledgeable and passionate he was about what he was selling. NEWE offers Shitake mushrooms (100% Organic, log-grown), Oyster mushrooms (Sustainably wild-gathered), morels, ramps (a kind of wild onion), and something called "Chicken of the Woods". Of course I had to buy a $5 pint of Chicken of the Woods, What is it? Well, I don't really know - it looks like old breakfast biscuits that have been tossed under a steam roller and left out in the sun too long. Paul said you could cook it just like chicken, and ,,, yes he did say "Tastes like chicken". I wrapped it in foil, added some water and teriyaki sauce and sirachi, and baked at 350 for a while. I gotta say -- it was very good, and yes, it did taste like chicken. I took a photo for you to see how it came out. Go support a cool local business run by a very nice guy....
