After being A customer for most of over 10 years usually with 3-5 vehicles at a time insured. The inconsistencies and excuses have gotten too much, usually the answer you get will depend on who you talk to. Maybe its the drive to be a "media" company and and pushing content over providing a service now. Long story short With multiple collector vehicles (Mainly Porsches) that are driven an average of 1000-1500 miles a year and not daily driven ( I have a long commute and have throw away cars on regular insurance for that) up until recently I haven't had issues with insuring my vehicles, Unfortunately my 2009 Cayenne GTS was one that they decided didn't meet their collector standard despite the collectability of which was a topic of full articles of the Hagerty in 2019, 2021, and 2022. All relationships must eventually come to an end and Leland West, American Collector, Safeco, American Modern all considered it a modern classic and would have no problem insuring it. Only J.C. Taylor and Hagerty refused. read more

Warning! Harassing, threatening and extorting him to drop a valid claim! I just found out I am one of many victims of this horrible company! I was insuring 1 classic car and 6 classic motorcycles with Hagerty Insurance. Our car was stolen. We reported it to police on the spot and next day to Hagerty Insurance. We left several messages but no one at Hagerty Insurance would call us back! Had to get their manager involved (That even took 3 attepts to get his attention) and finally the adjuster called and took our recorded statement over the phone. Then it took her approximately 15 days just to get us a claim acknowledgment letter! Then they sent a so called "Investigator" to our home for a second recorded statement! We welcomed him in our home, served him coffee, fully cooperated and gave him all the answers based on or understanding. Next day, he called my disabled husband and started harassing, threatening and extorting him to drop the claim! We became very upset and reported him to Hagerty's manager (which most probably is part of their dirty scam) and opened a complaint with department of insurance. Now, they started playing games and giving us even more hard time (Naturally). It's been about 60 days now and nothing. They say "were investigating! We have cases that are 8 months old! Bla Bla Bla" ! Not sure they are investigating my calls to my mother or trying to nail me on paying my hair dresser for her services!!! This is a joke. We have been sharing this horrible experience with our friends, family, car club members, lawyers... Everyone is discussed by this companies business practice and the way they treat people. We have been advised and decided to practice our 1st amendment rights to the fullest extent and we encourage everyone to do the same. Enough is enough. read more

They were very accommodating in a difficult time a deer had hit my Corvette while driving during the day. As you know Corvette has fiberglass front end and it's one piece. I found a great shot to work on it and he was very accommodating of the shop and how it wanted to approach fixing my car. It has 28,000 miles on it it is in pristine condition a 1988 Corvette convertible I am so happy with the way I was treated. I will get my car back at the end of this month and it will be welcomed home. Thanks to haggerty and what they did for me. read more

So far Hagerty is 0 and 2 for assistance. When we had a small wiring fire they were so slow in responding that I had the vehicle fixed before they inspected it. Their delay of several weeks for inspection during the height of the car crusing season was unacceptable and Hagerty did tell me that if I made repairs before inspection they wouldn't cover any of the costs. I wasn't waiting weeks and covered the damage out of pocket so I could enjoy my classic truck. The second issue was even though I pay for roadside assistance and towing upto 100 miles they were unable to get me a tow whne the vehicle broke down. They said they couldn't get anyone for a day or so and to call 911 for help since we were stranded on a back road in Indiana. I had to call a friend to drive 2 hours to come get us and the truck because leaving the truck on the side of the road wasn't an option. My advice is to avoid Hagerty and go with Grundy which is what I'll be doing when my policy renews. read more

Applied for insurance, filled in the online quote and paperwork and then signed up for a policy. Waiting for tags and following up with them 3 times before only for them to deny me because they require me to register 2 cars with them??? Why is this not outlined in their online quote system. Aside from this I had to call them to follow up and find this out. Why are they not proactive calling / following up with the consumer rather than the other way round? Overall really poor customer service, I would avoid them and save yourself the time. read more

My name is Matthew and I live outside Atlanta in Cumming. I have been a loyal Hagerty insurance customer for over 15 years and have multiple (4) cars insured with them, I have even referred 6 or 7 of my friends who also have car collections to them. They have always been great. The problems began when my Corvette was stolen last year and I finally needed the insurance. They became terrible, customer service went out the window and when my policy came up for renewal they MORE THAN DOUBLED my premiums!!!!!!! 1 claim in 15 years SHOULD NOT DOUBLE YOUR PREMIUM!! Hagerty is fine as long as you just send them your money and never turn in a claim. What is the good of having insurance if they double your premiums if you use it?? read more

Just canceled my policy. Long, long wait to get an agent. She told me I could have used "Contact Agent" on the Hagerty site. She had no idea where that option was. Doesn't exist. So I clicked a Covid-19 "Click Here for Faster Service" link, I get a Salesforce error. Authentication error stating required fields are missing. Not functional. Did anybody test this? The site says you need a signed letter to cancel. You don't. You can call to cancel. I told the agent this. She didn't want to know (didn't care) which website page I visited that failed to mention this. (She said she didn't have access to the Hagerty website.) I told her I could help by providing the info, please include me in correspondence regarding this improvement. (I'm sure A LOT of people are affected by this oversight. It would help customers IMMENSELY.) She wasn't interested and didn't want me to help. Just hire some people who care (web designer and agents). Simple. read more

Horrible service I signed up for the annual insurance along with the towing service. I called for a tow truck at 8am and requested a flatbed, driver shows 5 hours later with a hook tow. The tow company Dreamworks Auto and Hagerty apologized and promised that a flatbed would be onsite the following day at 9am. At 11:30 am I was told the job was just assigned to a driver and that he would be onsite roughly around 1:30pm. I cancelled all Hagerty services and went with another insurance company. Don't fall for all of their "bells and whistles".....Horrendous! read more

They make it very difficult to actually sell you the policy or approve you. They just ask for money upfront and after that the underwriting calls you to gather information about your daily driver car. Some of us don't rely on a car for transportation and we are sharing vehicles with a relative where we are insured. They still don't want to take that to insure the classic cars. Instead of asking for money upfront and they delay the entire process of actually giving you insurance and there is zero customer service. It's like talking to the air. I mean if I sent them something that wasn't what they wanted, it shouldn't take me to have to go back to them a week or two later to follow up. They should be communicating with me regarding this matter specially since I left in the comments to email me so I have proof of who said what and to better clarify what they want. Insulted me over my relatives car policy in which I was the driver of one of their cars. They wasted almost a month of my time as I'm trying to save money with them insuring insuring cars that needed to get repairs done to be roadworthy and haven't even been driven at all since repairs need to be made state already sent me letter to suspend my plates for a car not being insured despite me not even driving them since they are broken and it's been hard to find insurance that will take cars older than 25 years. Heard of Hagerty and there website is super slow to get information down but I thought it was worth the time since I will be saving money on cars I will drive once or twice a month and got to pay state to reinstate my plates because of some bs law and old cars should seriously be exempt from it. Ten the lack of communication from Hagerty wasted my time and money. Had to wait almost a month to cancel payment on my check since they make you go thru a bunch of hoops to actually sell you the policy. Now when I insured one of my old cars as a daily with another company and I get back to Hagerty with another quote since I removed one car which is now insured as a daily driver in order to qualify for Hagerty. I email them and tell them to cancel out X quote and I will pay for Y quote which is the updated version and I also adjusted to minimum liability coverage to save a couple more dollars and the representative sends me an insulting email how they won't issue me a policy until I provide a list of all drivers in the house and until I provide a daily driver car. I just did the latter and the former of all drivers in the house, mind you the other driver does not drive my classic cars and has no interest in them to drive them at all. So stop insulting me over something. You obviously do not want my money now!! You are not the census bureau to take head count of drivers and excluded drivers who have never driven in there entire life and now you are trying to insult me after gathering all my information. Also I am never able to get an immediate response to any emails.i have to wait for days and days sending follow up emails when someone from somewhere answers and even then they do not address my problem. Seems they are far from what the founders of the insurance company were striving for. They are making it harder to insure classic cars than any other major company. There service is far worse rhan that of non-standard insurance companies. Takes them forever to answer then they do not even address the queation in they response. It seems as if a Chatbot answers the emails. An insurane company with this lack of service during the registration process just only wanting money upfront when they should ask for all documentation and when your approved then ask for money. I really wanted to try out Hagerty and save money but there complication of the entire underwriting process is not worth it. Now to tell me you won't sell.me a policy until I give you the documentation, , I already gave you instruction on what I want and seems you can't read my emails. I never got around to writing a review for this company but I just want to say that when I first signed up for insurance with them to cover my 1965 Ford they were a breeze to deal with and when not two weeks later my truck caught fire while driving down the 91; Hagerty gave me no issues and found me not at fault; covered all costs for repair and did so in a pleasant and timely manner. Staci, one of the adjusters has tons of attitude for no reason, and also never picks up her phone. Anytime I've ever called i always get her voicemail. And after two weeks of trying to reach her, she then went on vacation. They also took a month and a half to still not pay me my payment for a small fender bender that ate up so much of my time at work since i work a 9 to 5. I've spent 20 of my lunches trying to figure this out, and why my payment email wasn't being sent to me. I got 5 different agents to try to help me, and they & their managers said i should've been paid by now but the time keeps ticking and I still have not got the direct deposit email. I've been paying for this insurance for about three years. I pay extra for the "drivers club". I got one tow. There are "supposed" to be many extra benefits you get with the drivers club. DONT PAY FOR IT! I can't log on. My account shows I'm paying, shows I'm a member of the drivers club, gives my membership ID number, list my benefits, but nothing! When I try to access my benefits I only get a message to join and what it will cost me. I have made call after call to try to fix the problem. The phone reps log on to my account as me, see the problem, but cannot fix it. So they say they will forward the issue to someone who can. Then that ends it until I call again. I'm going to cancel my insurance with these people and I want a refund of the fees I have been paying for the last three years. Completely dishonest. I'm thinking the whole "drivers club" thing is just a big lie to get you to pay more. read more

Hagerty just hit me with a 20% premium increase for this year's renewal. I insure two classics with them, at very modest agreed upon values. The premium increased more than the amount it would be if I added a third car! I had no accidents, no tickets, or claims of any kind. Coverage is the same and there is no increase to the replacement value. Attempting to discuss this increase with them results in generic excuses being sent back with no clear answer. Things like; "due to severe weather in your area". Yeah, right Hagerty! There's been no such 'events' in my area and none of my other cars or motorbikes, insured in the same area but through two other carriers, had their premiums go up... They are showing quite a bit of bravado for a company that isn't the only answer on the market. This has been a huge red flag and wake up call for me, I thought Hagerty was awesome but it turns out that you cannot trust them, even at a billing level; how will you trust them if something happens and a claim needs to be filed??? read more

I owned a classic car since 7/17, and just sold it in 1/18. It was a breeze to sign up with Hagerty for the car insurance. And it was a smooth process to cancel as well. Hagerty has all signs of a well-run company: Logical on-line interaction, fast response, knowledgeable, efficient and courteous help-desk. I think it took me no more than 20 minutes to sign up, and 10 minutes to cancel, all in a stress-free, and pleasant manner. I am 100% happy with the price, and the service. This srvice level is so, so rare in today's world. Compare this to the likes of: AT&T, Comcast, DirecTV, the difference is night and day (or minutes versus weeks), which is why I bothered to spend time for a praise of Hagerty. I recently had an accident in my vintage Mustang insured by Hagerty. I only had the car a week when another car turned into my drivers fender. The accident occurred on a Friday at 5 pm. I filled out a summary of the accident on the Hagerty website that evening and a claims specialist contacted me on Monday. After giving a recorded statement the accident review began. I supplied photos of the accident damage to Hagerty. Hagerty developed an estimate for the repair and provided an electronic transfer for the initial payment for the repair. The repair is now in process. The entire process with Hagerty was painless and straightforward. I'd recommend their classic car insurance to anyone interested. read more

This is the worst insurance company I have ever dealt with. I'm all my years of driving. Long story short. I filed a claim it took them 3 weeks to even call me (when they said someone would be in contact within 24 hours) to have an adjuster come take a look at the damage, and that's only because I had to keep calling them every day to see what the deal was after they would give me the run around every time! Finally, when tlthr adjuster calls, we set up an appointment, and what do ya know!? He doesn't even show up. No call no nothing. Eventually, he showed up 6 HOURS LATER. Let's me know how much the damage is worth, and then 3 weeks later, get a check in the mail from Hagerty with not even half of that amount. What a joke. Not to mention, I called Hagerty and asked if they could help me find a tailgate, and they said I would receive an email within 2 hours. Here it is 3 days later and nothing. Going into my thirteenth month and my car is still dead. It needs a new engine, which I told them thirteen months ago. They are nice and dimming me to three point where it's beginning to effect my health. I turned in a supplement for over $15,000 three weeks ago. It took me a month to complete and I swear I don't think they're even trying to comprehend what I'm telling them. I can't even get then to approve ONE thing, the engine that will take six to eight weeks be built and shipped. At the rate we're going, it's going to take another year to get close to being compensated. I blame a lot of this on the company they subcontracted their appraisals to, SCS. My first appraiser literally just stopped responding to me and evidently just quit. He had all of the paperwork needed to finish the job, but I had to start again with another guy. The thing that sucks is, one of the managers at SCS told me their appraisers get paid one time for their initial appraisal and have absolutely no motivation to process supplements... None. So in early April, 2018 it will have been three years since I purchased this 65 Mustang and 17 months that I've been trying to get compensated by Hagerty. I've had to carry full coverage insurance for the last year because I was able to drive the car a total of four miles to confirm the engine was still damaged and then to go meet the first appraiser, only to wait two hours and him to be a no show. I've elevated my case at Hagerty from the initial person assigned to my case, to her supervisor, and then to her supervisor. I've got $55,000 in this car and can't afford to sink any more money into it. So, if Hagerty leaves me hanging, my car will be worth about what you'd pay for a rusted out shell. Engine dead, can't be locked or opened from the inside, no wiring harness, no stereo, not water tight, not aligned and the instrument cluster was ruined during the rebuild. I STILL haven't filed all the supplements I'll need to file because I'm having to literally account for every nut, bolt, washer piece and part that I have bought. They're probably not even going to pay for the windshield chrome that shook off because I was made to drive the car to meet with the no show appraiser, but also don't want to pay for the entire windshield washer system that was taken from the car. They don't even want to pay for the LED lights I bought but were not installed. Nickel and dime stuff that's driving me crazy and consuming all of my time. So, for now, if I could give a rating of less than 1, I would. I'll keep you updated but I wouldn't hold your breath. The sad thing is that they're refusing to pay for a complete paint job, only spot painting. It will look cheap and be an embarrassment to drive. My prediction is that when all of this is all said and done, the car will be worth about the same as I paid for it when it was a rusted out shell. FML read more

Got insurance for my 05' BMX X3 6-Speed and Moped for dirt cheap. Added an endorsement for 5-month seasonal driving and it was not additional cost. Grundy denied coverage because they had 'no market for SUVs', while the service rep gladly added on the seasonal driving endorsement to my BMW. Not sure other companies would cover it. Also costs substantially less than a traditional insurance plan for a vehicle I will rarely drive. Will update if I need to proceed with a claim. read more

While trying to insure my vehicle these people repeatedly wasted my time. I have an antique firetruck and even after jumping through their hoops to fit THEIR needs they still refuse to insure it. To top it off I spoke with a supervisor hoping to deal with someone who would try to make this policy work and all he did was red flag my name so no other agents would be able to get me a policy. The wife and I decided we were definitely going to buy a Model A. Even before we began looking around, I called Hagerty insurance and asked about their coverage, policies, restrictions, etc. Most of all, I needed to know how to get a newly purchased car home on a trailer, etc. and have it covered for the trip home. Hagerty said they get this all the time and knew what to do. They issued a policy for me over the phone for a car that I had not even purchased yet, with the "blank spots" to be filled in via telephone call when we did find the car we were going to buy. They gave me a customer number and policy number before I even test drove the first potential car. So, in essence, I had insurance way before I had a car. As for charges, they did not charge my credit card until the day I called them with a VIN number of the car we eventually bought. The car was insured before I even loaded it onto the trailer for the long trip home. This was a blessing in itself, I felt really relaxed the whole way home knowing- A: Tow vehicle is covered by my existing insurance. B: Trailer covered by my existing insurance PLUS the U-Haul insurance. C: Car covered by Hagerty. In the months since buying the car, they have been very helpful and courteous when I call with questions or need something. Hagerty agents never seem like they are trying to rush you off the phone, and they all speak PERFECT English! Not only do they know classic cars, apparently most of the employees drive classics themselves. Seems odd to call your insurance company for tips on something, but Hagerty is different. The rate was lower than what it would have cost to put the classic on my existing modern car insurance policy by 80%! No kidding. Plus, the coverage is "guaranteed value" not "book value". You set your own value, and that's it. No messing around. They will even insure a car still currently undergoing restoration. When you get it done, just call them and let them know. Like all classic car insurance companies, they do have restrictions on use. For example, the car cannot be your only transportation (you have to own a modern car for every driver in your household), and you choose how many miles per year to put on the classic car. Other than that, you're pretty much able to drive as you wish (with reason). Some other companies limit use to classic car club functions like parades or car shows. That's ridiculous! What if you want to go out to dinner in your classic car? With Hagerty, you have their blessing. With great freedom comes great responsibility, and they assume you will watch your car like a hawk. Don't park your classic car at the Oakland airport for weeks and get all pushed out of shape when it gets vandalized. You may get laughed at. read more

Called Hagerty for insurance for 2 vehicles. I have a 18 year old son and was told that it wasn't a problem there would be a surcharge, ok, I understand. The agent went down the list with me and asked how often and under what circumstances my son or I be driving. I answered on weekends if it was nice under 5k miles a year. I said 5k just so I wouldn't go over . I was denied because I want to drive too many miles a year and because my son had already driven my collector vehicle even though it was insured with standard insurance and completely legal for him to drive it. Asks for credit card information BEFORE issuing a policy (while not all bad, it DOES allude to the notion that a policy will be issued, especially when told so during one of the phone calls) 1. Asks for photos (ok, standard) 2. Calls when asked to email (old fashioned and lame, why give me the option?) 3. Asks for more photos of storage structure (I was told a carport was okay, so sent a picture of it) 4. Calls again to ask about the carport (when I said I wanted to be emailed) 5. Tells me that carports are not okay. Guys, get a fucking clue if you're trying to do business in the new millenium: We've given you all the stuff you've asked for, answered questions honestly, and were told A and received B.
