I stopped in to look at hairpieces, as I recently had a coloring mishap and was forced to cut 10 inches off of my hair. Initially it appeared they had a good selection, but I quickly realized that they were out of any lighter color options. The younger of the two employees, in the back, was initially friendly and helpful, but quickly became impatient with me asking questions and suggested I go to another store in the area (Shangri La) because "they have more for Caucasian people." I did not have time to go elsewhere, so I continued browsing to see if they have anything that would work for me. They do not allow any touching or opening of products, so it was hard to compare. It took me about an hour to settle on the best option they had. It wasn't perfect, but it was marked down to $79 from $99 and I had already spent a good deal of time, so I figured I'd just give ita try. I got to the register, where an older woman was watching television and eating, and asked her to confirm that the sale price, written in pen, was correct. After discussing with the other employee, who confirmed writing the lower price, she disagreed and said that she would not honor the sale price, as it was a mistake. I told her I understood, but that I wouldn't care to proceed at that price. not need to go through with the purchase after all. She proceeded to express frustration with me for Not purchasing after spending an hour in her store, comparing things and asking questions, Ben told me not to come back. I assured her I wouldn't visit again if she were offering me shopping spree at no charge. It's a shame that this is one of only two establishments in the islands who carry alternative hair solutions. It is worth a trip down the road to Shangri long or even waiting a week to purchase items online rather than patronizing a business who's proprietor is as anti-aloha as it comes. Treat Black ppl right or DONT SELL OUR HAIR PRODUCTS PERIOD I am very disappointed with the treatment I received at this store. After purchasing a bundle of hair, I immediately noticed that the texture was rough once I got to my car. I returned to the store right away to exchange it for a different product. When I attempted to make the exchange, I was informed that there was a $2 price difference. The employee told me that I could not simply pay the difference with my card because the store requires a minimum purchase of $10 for card transactions. She also stated that the store does not provide refunds. Fortunately, I had cash available, but the situation was handled in an unprofessional manner. In addition, the employee's attitude throughout the interaction was unpleasant. I felt as though I was being closely watched and followed throughout the store, which made me uncomfortable and unwelcome. I was carrying no purse, bags, or anything that would justify such treatment. To make matters worse, when I asked to use the restroom, I was initially told that the store did not have one. However, shortly afterward, an employee called someone over with a key to unlock an outside restroom for me. Rather than allowing me to use the restroom and return the key afterward, they escorted me to the restroom themselves, unlocked it, and instructed me to close the door behind me. The entire interaction left me feeling as though I was not trusted as a customer. Another concern is that many of the items in the store did not appear to have visible prices. As a customer, I expect clear and consistent pricing on merchandise. The lack of posted prices made me uncomfortable and raised concerns about transparency and fairness. What concerns me most is that businesses that sell products primarily to the Black community should treat their customers with respect and appreciation. The people who support these businesses deserve courteous, professional service, not suspicion, hostility, or poor treatment. Unfortunately, my experience reflected the opposite. I went to this store after work (mind you I'm military and still in uniform) and this lady followed me around the store. Aisle for aisle, staring me down and watching me. I typically don't like to confront racism but that day I did. She tried to play it off as "she was observing gods creatures", how creepy. I told her it was unacceptable and unnerving and she finally admitted it was because a couple of black people had robbed them recently, then proceeded to say I look nothing like them. Im an esthetician student and i simply came here to see if they'd have wax sticks since all the others were closing soon and i was in a pinch. Not only were they rude when I walked in they watched me like a hawk and had someone following me the entire time, i felt extremely uncomfortable and didn't even end up buying anything 1 because they didnt have what i needed BUT even if they did i still would not have given them my money after the way they made me feel. unbelievable, nothing even worth buying let alone stealing in there. I wanted to purchase clip on hair extensions for my wedding. I haven't purchased any before and the recommendation that I do so came from my stylist so I thought I'd give it a go. Now let me say this. I did read fellow Yelper reviews about the store prior to stepping foot in and it helped me be aware of what type of experience I may encounter. When I walked in, the man working at the counter just finished helping another customer. He turned to me and asked if I was purchasing or just looking. I said purchase and before I could even finish my response he boldly said "There is nothing for you here. You're not going to find what you looking for." I asked if I could still look around and he pointed me in the direction of the product I was looking for. While looking, another customer walked in and I heard him scurry to assist her and then asked her "Are you going to buy? No? Then don't try on wigs. There are signs everywhere! How am I supposed to sell them if you try them on?" TBF, I understand where he stands as a business owner trying to sell unused and sanitized products. I left the store not purchasing anything and thanked him across the store on my way out. Also, he actually didn't keep close to watch me as some Yelpers mentioned he did with them. 3 stars. Lots of parking in Pearl Kai Shopping Center. Store is easy to locate. Customer service is direct, bold, and may be considered as rude to some. Have been coming here regardless of the yelp reviews. I know they had the products I needed and yes, I knew the pricing too. I had no problems....till now. I went in looking for a wig for a wedding. The owners were not there but another gal and their daughter were there. I knew the daughters attitude from the few times I have spoken with her. This is why I asked the other gal there. She called the owners daughter and I already knew where this was headed. I told her I wanted to try on wigs (as the owner had let me in the past) She said that they do not let anyone try on wigs anymore. I told her that it was for a wedding and how was I to know if I would like it if I can't try it since all sales are final. She said that was the rules and basically "too bad". I began to explain to her that it was for a wedding and I'm looking for something....SHE CUT ME OFF and said "well that's the rules, you can't try it on. I've never heard of people wanting to try wigs on since everyone is professional wig wearers". Like ummm EVERYONE. Apparently not. The owners of this store and their daughter are SO kind! Usually, when I walk into an Asian-owned beauty supply store, no matter how kind I am or how friendly my greeting is, I'm met with an unfriendly watchful expression that basically says 'You better not steal anything.' Well every time I come here, I am greeted SO sweetly by the daughter (wish I could remember her name) who has the cutest style and is usually donning to short ponytails. She looks to be in her late 20's, early 30's and she is just beyond kind. She sets the atmosphere with her sweet demeanor and makes it feel like a welcoming place to shop. Whenever I have a different hairstyle, she notices right away and always gives the BEST compliments. And the owners, her parents, are the kindest people. They are both quiet, but make conversation and laugh with their customers. They also have everything that I'm looking for, so they are my GO-to place for black hair care. It's just so nice to go into a shop that not only caters to black hair, but actually APPRECIATES their clientele. As long as I'm on island, I will ONLY patronize Hahn's! I clearly had my 10 month old in my arms while shopping, and was having a difficult time finding products due to how tight the space was. No one offered to help assist me. It seemed very intentional, due to them greeting the white customers, but almost bumping into me when passing without a care. They clearly want black dollars, since they sale black products, but don't care to interact with us. My wife came out crying due to her recent experience, which lead me to write this review. As soon as she stepped in, she began to be closely followed (2-3ft away). A lady watched very closely as she looked around for some products. My wife felt really uncomfortable but figured it was because the store location, so she tried to ignore it. At the same time there were other women/teenagers with backpacks there as well who were not being followed at all, which was a bit weird. Once she finished browsing, she was essentially escorted to the checkout counter, where she was met by an older man (in his 50s). He proceeded to ask calmly, "are you in the Navy?", which my wife responded to with "no, but my husband is in the Marines". He answered with "oh, I wish that I had known that sooner". My wife was taken aback and a bit confused by his answer. He proceeded to state his affiliation with the army, adding that he wished to have been a marine. When ask why, he said the following statement "Marine's eyes are different, Black Marines, when compared to other black guys... they actually have integrity." This, unfortunately, is when my wife pieced everything together. This store owner was racist, and he wasn't hiding it either. My wife had been racially profiled for the tone of her skin. I have read a multitude of other reviews which describe similar experiences which in essence sum up to a pattern of prejudice. Shame on the owner. read more

The couple is very knowledgeable about their products and super helpful. I always go in knowing what I want; I tell them and they take me straight to it. My trips there are usually only 5 minutes unless I get distracted and start looking around! I was pleasantly surprised by how much the man knew about wigs! I don't know where all the bad reviews come from, but Mike is so great! This is my first time here and he made the experience wonderful and his customer service was superb. This place is full of wigs, braiding hair, half wigs, drawstring extensions, lots of hair! If you are looking for braiding hair, this is the place to go. They have boxes and boxes of hair, simply too much that the store is overflowing with products. I think this place has everything in terms of African American hair care products. They have braiding hair in numerous colors and styles. This store also has a lot of regulars from what I've seen. In addition to hair; they also have lashes, makeup products, hair products (for all hair types), hair care accessories, and even jewelry. They have the 90s door knocker earrings which I absolutely am a fan of. I did not experience any negativity upon entering the shop. I went in a little bit after they opened and was immediately greeted upon arrival. Mike assisted me with what I was looking for and was kind and courteous. This shop is fun to look at, to see all the products. Just a friendly reminder to ask assistance to try on wigs.
