It cost so much to get ONE COSTUME for a 3 year old last year, I don't know why dad insisted on going in again this year!? ‍ ‍ However, we came a day or two before Halloween. This time we came 2 weeks BEFORE! So ADVICE... come here EARLY to avoid the CROWD. There was a LONG LINE last time because so much people were going in for the last minute sales. Even then the price was high! We paid $70 for a damn KNUCKLES FIT FOR A 3 year old boy. And it only came with the gloves for the hand and the head was attached to the suit. But even THAT didn't hold up well. I had to improvise by using a hat underneath to hold the spike up! So if anyone knows any 3-4 year old who wants to be knuckles for Halloween, I have the SUIT FOR SURE. I think we have to look for the gloves. Anywho, I'll be back if anything's different. Many different sections of whatever you want to dress up as. Available costumes are from the comics, movies, religious, horror areas of interest. The cashier line moved quickly this time. Good value because my cop ‍ costume comes with a hat. badges, handcuffs, a sexy dress and a belt for about $65. The Jesus set with a tunic, hair , and other accessories was popular with just one outfit left. I would not want to be Jesus Yikes. read more

Halloween is my favorite holiday of the year and no physical store does it better than Spirit. This location is the old Toys R Us; it's big and well lit. The store has extra walls and curtains put up to keep the footprint smaller with more storage. It's a seasonal store, so depending when you're reading it may not be open. Spirit Halloween offers all manner of creepy goodies: decorations, animatronics, gifts, toys, collectibles, and of course tons of makeup and costumes. Prices are high for the quality; commercial Halloween is always about supply and demand. Despite this, they have tons of great options from full costumes to pieces to add to your own. Staff here was friendly on our visit, happy to assist. I liked the small items in the check out line like candy. For Funko Pop! collectors, they had a few exclusives as well. Now that Halloween is over for this year, I look forward to visiting again next! read more

Located in the old Toys R Us building, Spirit has operated in this location for several years now. Pearlridge does not seem able to find anyone to occupy the space. The building has seen better days, it looks like without Spirit coming every Halloween, the building looks like it is left abandoned. Overall, Spirit has a lot and I mean a lot of merchandise. Though it looks like it operate 75% of the former floor space. Everything is fairly pricey, you might fair better with Walmart or Amazon. I didn't buy anything but you might find some deals if you look hard enough. Everything I saw for an adult cost 40-80 dollars. It could be worth a trip, especially if you have young children who likes to look at the displays. Also FYI, the door does not open unless you are right up to the door and I mean really close. From age appropriate costumes and accessories, to sfx makeup, animatronics, festive props, and party favors - they got it all. Prices are steeper here compared to your typical hypermarkets, but due to the demand and convenience, it is to be expected around the holiday. They do however honor a 10% discount with a valid Military ID, so take advantage of that perk if you're eligible. Was on my way to TJ MAXX to pick up some neat Halloween things at Pearlridge Mall when a strange sight caught my eye...what's this??? A HALLOWEEN STORE!! It was the same Halloween store chain I had visited in California several years ago. I was glad they came to Hawaii because one of my go-to stores, Price Busters, went belly up and I was wondering where I was going to get my Halloween fix. This store was huge. All the Halloween things you could want: Costumes = rows and rows and rows of the stuff, including masks. The neatest thing I saw in this store were the Jack Skellington and Halloween-themed suits, for a pricey $160. There were a few selections of his-n-hers matching outfit sets (i.e. plug and wall outlet hubba hubba, et al.) How about some really scary, deranged clown masks? Or really, disgustipating, nasty zombie babies sewn together, a-la Human Centipede style? Yuck. No fanks. I am more of a Disney Halloween, Martha Stewart-ish type shopper. I love "classy" Halloween decorations of a more innocuous nature, such as jack o lanterns with cute faces, little black cats holding pumpkin-shaped treat bags wearing glittery, sparkly tutus and other snooky-sweet, molassesessy gooey-type generic loveliness. No zombie babies and headless clowns holding daggers for me, uh uh, no ways. Despite (me) making ugly faces and snorting at all the deranged goods in the store, I did manage to chalk up $35.00 for a bunch of non-scary things, such as cute Halloween car magnets, my favorite being one that says, "I don't brake for zombies" and shows the cartoony car smashing into a cartoony-looking zombie. I also purchased a "HEISENBERG" Breaking Bad beer can coozy for my husband's Christmas present. Also, some bags of ping pong blood-shot eyeballs that I will put on my Zombie Halloween tree (wait til you see it hehehe haahahahaaaa) - (check my personal album frequently heh heh). A bit pricey, but where in the world will you find a Jack Skellington SUIT?? Spirit Halloween is like a true quintessential ghost, it comes and promptly fades into oblivion after Halloween, never to be seen again, until next Halloween (and on a Saturday, can you imagine??)...it's going to be back, to haunt yet another empty mall-space near you. read more

Went home had try it on it was a bit too tight n now exchange for a bat which is the same brand costume but cheaper $44.99. Go to the register n she tells me I owe $5 for a outfit $5 cheaper. For the past few years, this has been my go to spot for my sons costume because it is much more spaced out and organized compared to Party City. Though the prices are pretty steep for any size costume in my opinion, well at least the ones that I would want to wear.. who says you're too old to Trick or Treat! They have a ton of scary, mystical, magical, tv/movie characters and more. There is a wide variety of accessories and decor too if you want to dress up during work or decorate your office space. I found a 25% off a single item coupon in the mail last month. It was in an envelope full of other coupons that my dads house receives every so often..I'm not sure how to sign up for it but you can also check their website for a coupon. You have 8 days from the date of purchase for a refund, anytime after that until 10/31 is exchange only. Very unwelcoming. Staff continuously followed my boyfriend and I as we were looking at the costumes. He's African American and I am a darker shade Asian and it was a real uncomfortable situation. We were not able to shop around without them hawking us down. When we first walked in there were 6! Employees at the cash wrap. And NONE acknowledged us as we entered BUT they had workers follow us and continue to ask questions if we found what we were looking for when obviously was looking to see what they had to offer. First things first, check online at spirithalloween.com if they have a 20% off a single item coupon to use. I did it today 10/28 and it worked out for my decorations. See the photo if you want it. I like this location better than the other two available for 2017. Pearlridge seems organized and it doesn't feel like it was slapped together in a bigger space than needed like the old Waikele K-mart or old Sports authority on Ward. The prices are steep which makes one want to go online or make your own. Now that there are only three days till Halloween, some may not have an option. I want to say that my experience today was so great thanks to the employee Nick. He is genuinely nice and out of all the chaos, he stayed cool and calm. He never made me feel like I was burdening him with my questions to check for animatronics (Like how I went to the Waikele one right before.) I must say he made all the difference in my experience. Halloween Seasonal Store Yes i know Im here to look at all the seasonal stock and merchandises, but walking in here had me have this sticky dirty feeling because of the unkept floors. That being said, I appreciate the whole idea of having a dedicated theme brick and mortar, however, a lot of things I did see were marked up a lot versus if I went to wal mart and bought similar or identical things. I felt there could have been a lot more selection; they had a lot of stock but for the size of the place I hoped for a tad more variety and selection. Customer service, well I asked lady if she had any Alien Pick Me Up Costumes, (google it) very popular trending costume and even says on website that they had it, and she had no clue what I was talking about. Last year I purchased my Halloween costume from the Kahala Spirit location which was in the old Blockbuster spot. The parking there was terrible so I was relieved they opened one up in Pearlridge this year. They are located on the 2nd level (Macy's side) across of Satellite City Hall. Prices are kinda ridiculous ($59.99 - $79.99, but that's the range everywhere, I guess), however I took advantage of their most recent deal (& sorry today was the last day) which was $10 off any purchase of $40 or more. You'll need to sign up on their website for offers and by far this was the best discount they gave out to date. I think each year the costumes are getting more racier so I like to get a size up so it doesn't look too revealing. I love how you can try the costumes on first before purchasing them. They have (4) fitting rooms for females, you can try on (2) at a time, & you are only allowed to try on the main outfit, you can't try on the accessories that comes with the costumes i.e. masks,crowns, etc because they cant be taken out of the packaging. I love this place because before these pop up stores I would go to Party City for costumes which would have a crazy line out the door to just walk in, another crazy line to receive your costume and another line to try it on. Here.. the process is much more smoother. I didn't have to wait in any line and I came here (6) days before Halloween. This is the perfect place to find a costume, accessories, or props relating to Halloween, since their only focus is on this specific Holiday. read more

RUDE AND ARROGANT EMPLOYEES. My father took my son to buy a werewolf costume here in early October. A male worker suggested they buy glue-on hair. On halloween night I noticed the product said "Not recommended for children under 14." We didn't use it because my son is well under 14. I figured we wouldn't be able to get a refund since the receipt states "NO REFUNDS/EXCHANGES." However, I thought I'd give it a try given the circumstances. When I went back to the store this morning, the male worker there, who said his name was Jeffrey Joe (then corrected himself and said it was Jeffrey Smith...poor guy doesn't know his last name), immediately cut me off before I could finish my sentence. He replied with, "Aboslutely not!" then snubbed me and looked away. At first I thought he was joking but quickly realized he was serious. Like I said, I didn't think I would get a refund. The low rating is not because I didn't get the refund. The one star (zero if I could) is because he was so arrogant and rude. Also, the employee who sold the product to my son in the first place was uninformed and careless. And, to top it off, on Halloween night we went trick-or-treating in the mall. This business was one of few stores that did not pass out candies! Well it still is awesome but I'm rating this place a 1star because the workers made me feel so uncomfortable from the moment I walked in and asked for a package. Reason for package. -my daughter had just bought a snack from a different store. I wanted to place the snack in the bag to make it easier for me to shop in the store. I was stopped by majority of the workers asking if I needed something? Then a n older lady asked if there was anything in my package that she could help me with? Seriously? I responded kindly and said "no" I just asked for a bag to put my daughters snack inside! She then walked away. As I approached the aisle I was heading to before I was stopped, another worker had her eyes on me. I began to get annoyed as I was being watch like a hawk while I shopped with my children. From my peripherals I could still see the worker watching me, so I turned and stared at her. She quickly smiled and turn. So I walked around the corner of the aisle and she followed me. This really pisses me off! Shouldn't you be following someone who has the intentions to steal from you, not the ones that are actually trying to buy something. I paid for my children's items and left, it was really a waste of time because the mask we bought he can't even open his eyes!? So at this very moment he's trying to exchange his mask. Alright, I am pissed off as of right now they will not refund because on the receipt says all sales finale they absolutely refused to give me the refund. So at this point I'm fucking furious. I will never step foot in another Spirit Halloween store. I bought a "blow-up" costume for my son which requires a built-in fan to work in order for it to blow up. It kept coming detached and falling down into the costume, causing it to deflate. We reattached the fan many times and it kept coming off. I took it back the next day and TRIED to explain to clueless manager who did not understand how the costume worked. She kept saying there is nothing she could do. I do understand their return policy, but when a costume requires a mechanical part to function properly in order for it to work, the customer should be able to return it for a refund! They need to change their policies and hire more competent workers. Sadly, they have market cornered for Halloween, so costumer will continue to be price gouged and taken advantage of. read more

Last year I pick up two costumes and this lady let me tried it at the same time this year I had six total but when I saw the sign saying that u could only try three I put three back and this lady her name is wen please not see her because she only letting me try it on one at a time and as for me it's hard to change because I have my shirt, pants and my belt plus my shoes so the first time I tried on the size large she let me try on the Cinderella dress so I told her it was too thought and then the bugler shirt but I told her it was too tight and then she had me try on the fall out costume but I told her that I can't tried that on I have to look for a bigger size it took me two hours so next time because of my shoes you should let me try on all three read more

The amount of different things for costume and home that they offered. I was in more amazement at the prices. I could not believe how much they were charging for kids costumes. Ranging from 34.99 and above. The accessories alone could run you a pretty penny. I wanted to dress up with the kids this year but it looks like I will have to make our own this year or maybe try out other places. I don't know what we are going to do this year but as single mom, knowing that I could not afford costumes for all 3 of my children, we had to leave empty handed and teary eyed. I wish they would be able to lower the prices just a little to accommodate the cost of living here in Hawaii. I think then they would have more and keep more business and allow customers to actually feel like they have an opportunity to buy what they would like at this store. read more

It was really uncomfortable and hard to enjoy myself when someone keeps following me down the isles after I said I was just browsing and didn't need any help. We came in with a group of friends, about 5 of us, hoping to find halloween masks. We put back all the stuff we touched and made sure we hung them back up in its original position. Gregory then comes up to us and basically told us to pick up mess that was already there when we got there. We tried to explain to him that we put the stuff we used back, but he kept insisting that we go pick up someone else's mess. He made us do his job for him, he complained that it was too much work for him as he was just standing and wandering around. Our first impressions of the Spirit Halloween was horrible and we will not be returning due to the lack of professionalism of the worker. Almost didn't go here based on the bad reviews but ended up leaving happy. $100 poorer, but found what we needed. We went on a Friday night one week before Halloween so u can expect the crowds. My only real complaint is how hot it was. Two employees that we ran across were very helpful. We got my husband a costume, a hat, and a wig for $100. Pretty pricey but to be expected at these types of places. Will probably plan better next year and shop early for discounts. read more

Terribly managed!! I looked online before going to the store so that we could go in, get what we want, & jet. Well.. They were out of the costume we wanted for our son, so we had to improvise, but still.. We had everything picked out for all four of us in about 15-20 mins. Then, I stood in line for about 15 mins so the kids & I could to try on the costumes we selected. When we got up to the attendant, she opened everything for us, but wouldn't let the kids and I go in one room together (they're 8 & 9). I wanted them with me because (1) It would save rooms & time for everyone, and (2) I don't trust them to know if something legitimately fits them AND I worry about them destroying them by well, you know, being clunky kids. I convinced the girl that at least my daughter needed to come in with me, and I'm glad I did because hers was too small & she undoubtedly would have torn it trying to put it on by herself... In the dark... Because the janky dressing *stalls* were all black with no extra lighting and nothing to set anything on but one hook. I had a Harley Quinn costume for myself & didn't think to look it over before going in the dressing room because it was the last one, so I grabbed what there was quickly. As it turns out, the bottoms came apart before I put them on.. There are about five buttons that were sewn into the bloomers to fasten the tutu to it... Three were undone, and draped and pinned by the hanger in such a way that I really didn't think to look at it. When the attendant showed it to the manager to see if it could be sewn back together and ask if I could get a discount, but she said no to both. The attendant expressed that was b.s. and offered to sew it herself "in a few minutes," but she was the only one working the dressing rooms, and the line was super long. So, I figured since she was nice enough to offer, I'd go look around for a while and give her some space. I came back 30 mins later thinking it'd for sure be done by then, but instead the girl who offered to sew the costume went on a break & some other chick was up in there and acted like she was above sewing it together. My husband's patience had completely worn off by then, & he set off to find the original girl to sew it together for me. As soon as she arrived, the other girl left, & magically, the line became incredibly long again. After about an hour, I ended up sewing the stupid costume myself by principal at that point, because I had already waited so long, and refused to buy something that was falling apart, especially w/o a discount! Then.. After all that, I waited in line for another 20 mins to pay for it. They do not allow food or drinks in the store, which I can understand, but I set my frappuccino by the register when we arrived and by the time we left, it was completely melted. Total time/money spent in the store: 1.5 hrs (at least).. $265, despite our prepared approach & direct in-store selections. Tip- search "Spirit Halloween discount" online for a 20% in-store discount off one item. If you're going to go through all of that, you might as well save some money!! read more

Ok so I've got to say this halloween store is a great idea but seriously OVER PRICED. $74 for a top gun costume when I seen one similar to it at savers for $19. Only reason why I came here was to see if they had any "Disney Cars" movie costumes because my son is obsessed with that movie. (They had none by the way). I browsed through pretty much the whole store and didn't find anything I was interested in. Even their one piece costumes are all over $40. Its crazy because your only going to wear this costume one night and the prices here are so crazy. Steer clear of here. Its really a rip off. We purchased a costume online. It wasn't exactly what we wanted. So we wanted to return it. We went to the postal office and they wanted to charge us $68. That is more than half of the costume. I called Spirit Halloween and there's nothing they can do for us. Really poor customer service. We always purchase our kids costumes every year from Spirit Halloween. I had a great experience with this store today. I went in and bought two costumes with my boys, 9 and 11 yrs old. Nobody made us feel uncomfortable and nobody followed us. In fact they were very helpful! There was a younger gentleman there that worked there that kept trying to help my boys decide more what to pick out in fact. When I brought the costumes home. I was disappointed with the mask in one of the costumes as it was flat and too large for my sons' face. I took it back within the hour worried that they would deny any exchange or return since it has such a strict refund policy. I explained everything to the manager and she was willing to let us exchange it for another costume same or higher price. I think it is because I went back so fast though. She was very awesome and I thanked her. I went in this store thinking the worst after reading all the comments, but I completely think they were great customer service! read more

Costumes were on the higher price range although I must say the customer service this year was awesome! We were greeted as we entered and most of all Reva's awesome customer service here at pearlridge mall had us leaving very happy. The store was super busy but that didn't stop her from making sure we got what we needed :) I'm looking forward to this store next year :) and hope that we see Reva there or more employees like her :) read more
