First off, Dr. Al Azawi is a really nice person. BUT I still felt compelled to write a review to prevent others from experiencing the same "pains" as I did. If you don't know me in real life, I am for the most part, very relaxed and easy-going person. I don't usually make a fuss and it takes a lot for me to get annoyed or upset. With that said, after my experiences with this office as well as Lakewood IPA...I made the switch to Memorial Care Med Group and it was the best decision I've ever made. To give you a little background, I am about 25 weeks pregnant. I started coming to this office in Dec 2021. Things to note about the office (as of 03/22) - They just moved from Paramount to Lakewood, right next to the hospital. Note that it is TINY, which causes a back up of patients. I had an 11am appointment and was not seen until 12pm. - They DO NOT have an ultrasound machine. You have to go to Lakewood Regional which sucks because 1) it takes forever for insurance to approve the visit 2) you can't see your baby as often 3) you end up having to take more time off of work just for these check in appointments 4) if you need an ultrasound urgently, it will still take about 2 weeks - They DO NOT handle blood tests in their office anymore. You have to go to a lab, which often takes forever because you have to walk-in. Appointments are rarely available until about 3 weeks out. - She delivers at Anaheim Regional, NOT LB Memorial or Los Alamitos - The office is old school and are way behind on technology - Communication between the staff and patient are very poor. I felt like I had to follow up on everything because nothing was ever done the first time. And when I did follow up, some of staff had attitude - Some of my check in appointments were honestly a complete waste of time. At my most recent appointment, after waiting an hour, the Dr came in with handheld doppler to hear a heartbeat and that was it. She didn't do any physical checks, nor did I even pee in a cup. I didn't understand why I had to come in. - The doctor (again very nice) is wishy washy and changes her mind a lot. She doesn't seem to pay attention or listen well. Another reviewer mentioned this, and it's totally true. 1) Scheduled me for a glucose test where I had to change my diet 3 days prior and fast...come appointment day, she tells me I am too early and we have to wait another 3 weeks 2) Scheduled me for a physical check but didn't end up doing it 3) Had to do my Pap smear multiple times because she didn't take enough samples 4) Scheduled appointments every other week when OB's normally see you once a month...total waste of time The doctor is sweet but so many things added up over the course of 3 months, that I couldn't take it anymore. I'm so glad I made the switch where I know I am in better hands. read more

I was referred to this doctor by my IPA group (Lakewood). Her office is right next to the hospital, so 1) you have to park in the same parking structure that is utilized for the hospital. Already a nightmare. 2) prior to being able to make an appointment, I called an exuberant amount of times with no success in reaching anyone. Their regular business hours are Monday-Thursday from 9am-2pm. When I finally reached the office, I explained my urgency to see the OBGYN. I had previously visited ER due to continuous dizzy spells caused by ongoing heavy bleeding for 40+ days so had to see my OB a couple days after. The receptionist was still trying to set an appointment over a month out. After continuously insisting to be seen sooner than that, they gave me an appointment a few days from then. Moving forward to day of my appointment, Dr. Al-Azawi meets with me, as I'm explaining my issue, she begins to check me down there and as she pulls out her hand, she looks at her glove and with a surprised look on her face says, Oh, you're bleeding. I'm thinking, did she not listen to anything I had said before? Like, she had asked me to undress from the waist down even after knowing that I was bleeding. She couldn't do much for me without first obtaining a blood test, so had to submit an order to the lab. The receptionist then asks me to wait in the lobby. I waited for over 20 minutes and the receptionist then gives me a printed paper telling me to go to the lab and that the order had been submitted. I reviewed the paper and asked if this was the order (didn't appear to be) and the receptionist tells me to show it to the lab. Quest was all booked, so I had to set an appointment for the following day. Once I show up, I give them my info and they cannot locate the order. I give them the printed copy I had received and the lab tech tells me that's not an order. She searched for me several ways, but nothing. She then recommends that I contact my doctor's office so that they can fax the order. I call and the answering machine had already been set 1 and 1/2 hours before they're set to close. I call several more times and nothing. Quest couldn't see me, so I had to try calling Dr. Al-Azawi's office the next day. Of course, the next set of days, line just rang with no answer. I had to call my PCP to get a new referral for another OBGYN. read more

Don't understand how this doctor is still in practice! Had an appointment at 11 and wasn't seen till 1. Hours should be updated or at least have the curtesy to call patients and let them know you're running SUPER late. Also, doesn't make sense to have a receptionist in the front when the phone is never answered. Office and doctor are a nightmare! Find a doctor that actually cares about her patients. read more

Terrible Doctor that I have ever seen in my life. No knowledge, no caring about her patient. So rude and careless. I had heavy bleeding, she let me uncaring with very bad bleeding for 33 days.When I went for third time with heavy bleeding in her office she said I do not care go to emergency room. I haven't seen such a rude doctor like her. I went to acute Anemia. I had to go three times to urgent care .She handed me a written proscription without sending that to my insurance since she did not have assistant that time. Wrong Medicine that If I was used caused irreparable complications. I got second and third opinion from two other doctors. both said she has proscribed dangerous medicine. she already has lost her patients, her office has abandoned. Dr. Azawi has been my OBGYN for 3 1/2 years now & delivered my first son at Los Alamitos. I had a completely normal pregnancy until the last few days when my blood pressure sky rocketed?! Scary. She was really patient & thorough about giving my husband advise, and not being pushy on what may be the best procedure for my condition. We trusted her & the result was a a healthy baby boy and a very fast & non-complicated recovery for me! As far as bedside manner is concerned she is #1, because she makes you feel like this glowing goddess every time she sees you ( even though you probably feel like a cow or horrible); she is knowledgeable, genuine and caring-- traits I want from someone examining & treating my womanly parts lol Her office in Los Alamitos is definitely nicer than her Paramount office, but it's closed for upgrades I believe. The only thing she is lacking is her Paramount office technology is in real need of an upgrade (which is why I gave her 4 stars instead of 5) although it still does it's duty, I'm a "techie" & picky so it would be nice to have a better quality ultrasound or whatever. Her staff is experienced and helpful- the office speaks Spanish & Arabic. They took care of advising me on any insurance, lab & disability stuff that needed to be done so it was clear to me. Now she is 2 weeks or so from delivering my 2nd child & she has been the same great lady, and as expected was always looking out for my best interest! So far so good! If you are considering having her as an OB come in at meet her & you will see how comfortable she can make you feel. Love Dr Azawi! read more

The Dr. is nice but I'm talking to her and she's ignoring me . I told her I was having some issue and she wasn't looking at me and said " thank goodness " . My husband & I looked confused as to why she would say such thing. I had to repeat it again so she could just end up telling me she had no idea what to do about my issue. Then a week before my first ultrasound they call me to tell me I can't get it done because they just found out the technician retired. So now I have to wait till they find a new facility to send me to so that I can get it done. They no longer do it in there facility. Then they tell me I have an appointment at 11am...the dr isn't even in the building till 12! So I'm waiting there for an hour and still have to wait in the room another 30min to be seen ! read more

Dr. Azawi delivered my first baby and I must say she was the best OB I've ever had. She is very patient and nurturing. Every time I came in to see her she always gave me a hug. She always had time to chat about what concerns I had and was always available to answer my questions. Her staff is friendly. She has 2 offices, which her main one is in Paramount. I would primarily see her in Los Alamitos, however, for ultrasounds and blood work I would have to go to the Paramount office. Her main office is a little outdated and Judge Judy is always playing on the TV in the waiting room. My only complaint is at the Los Alamitos office, there are no toliet seat covers, hand soap and paper towels in the bathroom. I suppose if you want all that, you'd have to go to the bathroom down the hall. Overall, love this Dr. She is the best! read more

Dr. Azawi is a very knowledgeable and caring doctor! I met her when I got pregnant. This was my second pregnancy, and with a big gap after the first (13 years). She always made me feel good, every time I came for my appointment, never waited too long. Her nurse there, Norma, is very good and quick with everything. Every single time I saw Dr. Azawi, she explained clearly what she was doing to me, and the way she was talking to me just calmed me down any time I felt concerned about something. And when the time to give birth came, she was extremely attentive, came to the hospital early and stayed with me for hours until I had to have emergency c-section. Everything was great! I felt lucky to have found Dr. Azawi to be my doctor and I recommend her with all my heart! read more

Dr. Azawi is such a sweetheart. When I found out I was pregnant I wanted to make sure I had a Dr. who cared about her patient and didn't treat me like just another #. I researched and found that many women loved Dr Azawi. I am now 41 weeks pregnant (past due) and she has been so understanding and helpful towards me and my unborn child. She always greets her patients with a smile, she always walks in the room and compliments me, and I know I'm not the only one because I hear her interact with the rest. Her favorite line is "my hands are cold but my heart is warm" and it couldn't be more true :). Also, her nurse Ligia is just as nice and helpful, you will interact more with her as she takes care of you first along with all paperwork. She is very knowledgeable and kind. One thing I must warn you, her office in Paramount has horrible parking so I always arrive 30-40 mins early to try to find parking, if your out of luck and time you have to find street parking. Other than that I'm glad I found this office before Dr Azawi retires, she is an older lady. Yes, aside from office being dated the service is great...so what that your not in a prestige office, what matters is the care you get. Very professional. read more

I only attended this office once before I knew it just was not a fit for me personally. Dr. Azawi and her staff seem very nice but there were several other red flags that I just could not ignore. 1. The office (Paramount) and location are very outdated and lacking any parking. There were not even options to pay for parking. When you first walk into the building it's a bit daunting because there is an old pharmacy inside where people are just lined up in chairs in the hallway sitting around.The waiting room does not have any children's area; which I understand is not required, but I witnessed a few children becoming restless as they tried to entertain themselves by laying on the floor. This is an OBGYN, it would seem like an appropriate place to carry something for them to do. 2. First Visits: You are required to get a pap smear and blood drawn regardless if you already had them done with a previous doctor recently- no exceptions, I was told this was their policy. 3. Ultra Sounds: These are WALK-INS ONLY! They only have one technician who arrives (I believe) once or twice a month and they are not able to guarantee you'll even be seen. I was told to have a good shot at getting my ultra sound completed, I should come in an hour early and they will complete the sessions first come first serve. read more

Dr. Azawi is such a wonderful doctor. When she walks into the room she always has a big hug for you. She does a thorough job. Takes the time to talk to you to make sure everything is ok does not rush out of the room like a lot of doctors do. Yes her office could be updated. Shes the best!!!! Truly cares about her patients .. She delivered both my Babies and I got really hurt after my second child and she directed me to the right staff and doctors for my treatment .. She truly is a wonderful human being if more doctors where like her The Medical field would be a pleasant one for everyone!!! And Ive had my share of money hungry Doctors as I was a caregiver for my mom she had Lymphoma.I will FOREVER be great full to Dr Azawi ... She restored my faith in Doctors and if I could take her home w/ me I would ! She made me feel safe every time I saw her explained everything w Details and made sure I was ok EVERY TIME I went for an appointment , and the Staff !!! Don't even get me started on that superwoman of a Nurse Norma so friendly all the time follow ups on point all the time .
