I have very long, coarse, curly hair, and she somehow gets it incredibly sleek and straight, especially at the roots, which is not easy to do with just a blow dryer. Beyond her talent, Nicole is always warm, upbeat, and welcoming. She has a great sense of when I'm in the mood to chat and when I just want to relax and enjoy some quiet time, which I really appreciate. If you have hair like mine and are looking for a smooth, polished blowout that actually lasts, I can't recommend Nicole enough!

I was looking for and also understood what I was looking for in color. (tone, the gray, then highlight and three different shades of purple.) She did an absolutely amazing job and I would highly recommend her to anyone! I found the whole salon very clean and the people they're very friendly and I've been back four times I believe since. Much to my display, Melanie had just left and so I was sat with a new stylist for just a haircut. She did a fairly good job and I'll definitely go back next month to have the color done. However, a day or so ago, I did receive a call from Melanie, who gave me her current information and I will go back to her if this new gal doesn't work out as well. However, I know if you go up higher than a level one, based on looking at their portfolios, they're definitely one of the best salons in all of Tampa and I've been here for 40 years and tried many of them! I highly recommend and hope you all had as great of an experience as I did

I am extremely disappointed and honestly heartbroken by my experience with Shear Art North. I had…read morebeen a client since April 2025 and genuinely enjoyed this salon, which makes it especially upsetting to say that I will no longer be returning--not by choice. I booked my an appointment for October on August 22nd without any issue. Then, without any prior warning or conversation, I received an email stating that I was no longer welcome at the salon due to "multiple instances of missed appointments, last-minute cancellations, and appointment changes." I was shocked. I have never missed an appointment, and according to my records and screenshots, I had only one last-minute cancellation with my stylist, Julia, in March. I mistakenly believed I had cancelled the appointment when I had not, immediately apologized, and was assured at the time that everything was okay. The remaining issues appear to involve miscommunication and scheduling problems. In December, there was a misunderstanding surrounding a service I had booked. Julia was extremely apologetic, offered me a complimentary haircut to make up for the situation, and assured me she would help find the soonest availability. At no point was I made aware that this was considered a serious issue or that there would be consequences for me as a client. Then, in June, I had a color appointment that had been booked two months in advance for my birthday. I reached out to Julia multiple times beforehand with an important question about changing my color service and received no response. I even contacted Syd and asked that Julia be informed. After still receiving no response, I called the salon on the day of my appointment and was told that the service I wanted could not be done because Julia had another client afterward. This was frustrating, especially because I had previously been told that Julia had cleared her schedule for me. Despite this, I still came in for my haircut. Everything between Julia and me was completely pleasant. We spoke normally, and she even asked if I wanted to book another appointment. I said I would call. There was absolutely no indication that there was a problem or that I was apparently accumulating "instances" that could result in being banned. That is why receiving this email months later, with no warning and no opportunity to discuss any concerns, feels incredibly unfair. I also found it extremely unprofessional and hurtful to discover that both Julia and Syd had blocked me on social media. I had rarely even seen Syd for appointments, and the appointments I did have with them went smoothly. I have screenshots documenting these interactions. From my perspective, several of the situations now being attributed to me were directly related to communication and scheduling issues on the salon's end. I was also frequently left waiting while Julia finished with other clients, and there were occasions during my own appointments where I was asked to wait while she worked with someone else. I was understanding about this, but it is difficult to be held accountable for scheduling concerns when I was also experiencing them as a client. What makes this even more disappointing is that I have since become aware of other clients describing similar situations where they were banned or penalized over issues that appear to have stemmed from their stylist's mistakes or poor communication. If this is a recurring issue, I sincerely hope the salon looks into how these situations are being handled. Julia is a talented stylist, and I genuinely enjoyed the work she did for me. However, good work does not excuse poor communication or time management, and clients should not be left to deal with the consequences of those issues without warning. I am not upset simply because I can no longer make an appointment here. I am upset because after being a loyal client for over a year, I was abruptly told I was no longer welcome without ever being given the opportunity to correct, clarify, or even discuss the alleged problems. I would have appreciated a conversation and basic transparency rather than being blindsided by an email. I truly loved this salon and recommended it to others, which makes writing this review particularly disappointing. I hope the salon takes this feedback seriously and works toward better communication, clearer policies, and greater accountability when issues arise. Clients deserve to know when there is a problem before they are suddenly shown the door.

Jessie presented herself to be a level five specialist for curly hair …read more 04//14/26 . So I trusted that and trusted her to give me a haircut unfortunately, I was super disappointed.. It was my first time at a salon. I am actually a hairstylist myself. Usually I do my own hair but overall again I can't see the back of my head like somebody else would, so I trusted Jessie . The haircut didn't turn out the way I expected, and it's affected my confidence more than I anticipated. I've been feeling pretty self-conscious since getting it done, I'm disappointed with the result . I want to share my experience respectfully. Unfortunately, the service I received here did not meet my expectations, and I left feeling very disappointed with the result. Based on my experience, I would not personally recommend this place. And I don't think she should be referring herself as a curly specialist with all respect. I am gonna add some pictures of my hair before the cut . And some pictures after , I didn't even take many because I felt so UGLY ! I've been stuck to pay for sew ins and braids until my hair grows back.. because I cannot fathom to walk around with this terrible haircut..

I was at the salon for almost the entire day about eight hours to complete the service, which is not typical. At other salons, balayage services on my hair have taken three to four hours at most. After the service, I was encouraged to return in three months for what was described as a refresh, which was explained to me as removing any brassiness and maintaining the existing balayage. When I returned for that appointment, my hair was instead colored back to my natural dark brown, completely removing the balayage. This was not what had been explained to me, nor what I had agreed to. When I expressed my concerns, the response from the staff was unkind and dismissive, and there was no willingness to take responsibility or offer a meaningful solution. No effort was made to correct the situation or acknowledge how upsetting this experience was. I ultimately had to file a dispute with my bank because the salon was unwilling to work toward a fair resolution, and I will now need to find another salon to perform a color correction. Because of this experience, I do not recommend this salon. Based on what I observed, there is a lack of professionalism and integrity, and my concerns were met with dismissiveness rather than accountability. Anyone considering this salon should think twice.

The person who answered the phone was very cheerful and was able to schedule an appointment for me very quickly. When I walked in to this location, I was greeted by the front desk associate. She was very friendly and it made me feel valued and welcomed. She told me that my stylist wasn't there yet, but would be with me as soon as she arrived. My stylist, Sarah, arrived a few moments later and warmly greeted me. I followed her back to her station, and we talked a little bit about what I was looking for. I showed her a photo I found on Pinterest, and she said she would be able to help me achieve the hairstyle I was looking for. I went in with hair a little longer than my shoulders, and left with a very cute pixie haircut! Sarah did a great job balancing conversation with efficiency in her service. I enjoyed how quickly yet thoroughly she was able to cut my hair. I received a wash, and she put curl cream in my hair when she was done. I appreciate the extra attention to detail she gave to my hair. I was very nervous going in, but I appreciate that she didn't hesitate to give me what I wanted. I walked out of there very happy with my haircut. If I didn't live an hour away from here, I would definitely return to make her my primary stylist. Thank you, Sarah!

When I arrived, I had my two-year-old with me in a stroller. She was calm, quiet, and watching a movie completely unbothering anyone. The salon itself was nearly empty, with only one other client present. Instead of being welcomed, I was immediately met with a very cold and judgmental attitude from the front desk. I was looked up and down, along with my stroller, and told in a very rude and inflexible manner that children were not allowed and that I would either need to leave or reschedule. As a mother, it is not always easy to find time for self-care, and I made the effort to come in for this appointment. The lack of empathy or basic courtesy was honestly shocking. There was zero attempt to accommodate, problem-solve, or even speak kindly. To make matters worse, I was charged $75 (50% of the service) simply for having to leave despite the fact that the situation could have been handled with basic human decency and flexibility. I do want to note that Desi, the hairstylist, did try to be kind while witnessing the way I was being treated, and I appreciate that. I understand this situation was not her fault. However, the overall customer service and experience are a direct reflection of the business she represents. This was the first time I've ever experienced something like this at a salon. I left feeling embarrassed, dismissed, and frankly, discriminated against for being a mother. I will not be returning, and I would not recommend this salon especially to other moms. There are plenty of places that treat clients with respect, kindness, and understanding. This was not one of them.
