First thing the next morning, I called every makeup artist listed nearby on Maps, but I was supposed to be at a photoshoot by noon, so no one was able to help on such short notice. Just when I'd given up, Kimberly called back and saved the day! Her home studio, which is only 15 min from the Embassy Suites I was staying in, was beautiful and clean. Her work space is in front of a large window, so the makeup is done in full natural lighting. She matched my skin perfectly with foundation she'd prepared based on a photo I'd sent just 15 min before. I thought the most impressive part of the natural makeup she gave me was the skin! It looked like my bare skin if it were flawless and glowing! She kept me engaged during the process, asking me for input as she worked to be sure it was to my taste and making comfortable small talk. She is not only a talented artist but also a lovely person to talk to, which I always look for in any stylist to aviod stress and akwardness. I am so grateful to her for doing my makeup on such unreasonably short notice! She had another appointment at 11:00 and I was able to make it to her by 10:15 by driving over as soon as she agreed to do my makeup! She finished right on time, and even though she moved very quickly, everything looked beautiful and she still asked if I was happy/wanted anything added or changed as she worked. Kim even curled my hair after I arrived with it in a mess, even though we were short on time and she'd only agreed to do makeup over the phone! She was probably in a rush, but she made the experiece relaxing and pleasant, which is super impressive because I am fairly high strung and was already stressed when I arrived from my hectic morning. I left at 11:00 on the dot, looking and feeling beautiful. Even though the makeup was very light and natural looking, it stayed put all day. The photos came out wonderfully as well! I have been very happy with the Brazilian Blowouts I have had in the past at Fabu. This time,…read morehowever, Michele did my Brazilian Blowout and it did not look right from the moment she finished. I gave her the benefit of the doubt and figured I'd see how it looked after I washed and styled. I washed one time with a sulfate free shampoo, the same one I have used every other time I've had this treatment, and my hair still looked frizzy -- like I'd had no treatment at all. I called the salon, and they were immediately confrontational and blamed me because I did not buy the BB products (I did use the BB ionic bonding spray that I had at home), which I've never used in the past, and have previously had no issues. I caved and spent $50 on the shampoo and conditioner, which did not help at all. TL;DR: spent over $450 for a service that has worked great in the past, but did not work this time. Salon blamed me, offered nothing in return, and now I have to have frizzy hair for 8 weeks before i can get it fixed. At a different salon, obviously.
