No one would ever accuse me of being metrosexual. I admit it; I lack flair and my sense of style is limited. In fact I've had the same hair style since 1982 which is when I remember discovering there was an opposite sex and actually started (occasionally) combing my hair in the morning. Meeting Meshelle for the first time I was impressed with how much she seemed to care about hair in general and being a bit intrigued I went to see her expecting to never go back. I've never been loyal to any hair cutter except the old Armenian guy I used to know who would cut my hair for four bucks (and not well I might add.) A single visit and I was sold. The attention to detail is incredible. Not only have I become a regular customer but I even took her reccomendation to buy some hair products which actually worked as advertised. (People who know me probably just fainted from the shock of reading this...) So my dear wife was fascinated that I am buying hair products from this mysterious Meshelle and talking about my hair ... and carefully grooming it in the morning ... Since moving to Walnut Creek last year she had been unable to find someone she was happy with and so off she went to see Meshelle..... I say this sincerely - the English language does not have words to express how happy Erin was with Meshelle's work. I'm reminded of a movie line ... "Well, it's one louder, isn't it? It's not ten. I wanted to write an update with my services with Meshelle. Since my last review I have had numerous other services with including cuts, colors - both high lights and low lights mixed together and separate. I love the finished product every time, my hair looks great and I've had many compliments on how the color and cut look on me. She has also performed two Keratin treatments on my over the past year and a half and I absolutely love them. It's takes a long time because it's a time consuming process but she's progressional and makes sure do to everything to ensure it turns outs perfect. She has lots of experience working with numerous clients with different wants and needs and always ensures they are happy and satisfied with their hair. Her new location is perfect too. She's at Coloz Hair Gallery, a couple blocks from downtown Walnut Creek right off of Mt. Diablo. The salon also has a gallery of art, jewelry and make-up and is set up beautifully. It is so hard moving to a new city and have to give up you hair stylist. I truly lucked out when I found Meshelle. It's very important to me to "gel" with people who are working on you, whether a Dr. or my hair gal! Meshelle takes the time to listen and offers suggestions. I first saw Meshelle (pronounced MEE-shell) here on Yelp and referred my mom to her based on all the reviews. I went with her for her haircut appointment, where she wanted her shapeless past-shoulder-length hair cut into a nice shapely bob. Meshelle nailed it! My mom was really happy, and plans to come back for color. I made an appointment for myself just two days later to clean up my pixie cut, making it not only stylish but super easy to maintain since I am about to have a baby soon (I might go for the funky different-length styles later on). Meshelle was absolutely amazing. She was able to fit me in last minute on a Sunday, which was super helpful. Her place of business is super clean, organized and felt good. She took the time to really understand what sort of hair I have, and what I am looking for. Due to my hair being difficult for most hairstylists because it grows in different directions, she really went above and beyond to understand it before she started the cut. She is a very easy person to have a conversation with and feel comfortable. At the end, my haircut was amazing. Meshelle is a true professional and I am so happy to have finally found THE stylist here in Walnut Creek. Having moved here from Oakland last year I've tried out three different stylists in the area and always walked away disappointed. Bad customer service, stylists who didn't listen to my needs, attitude and cuts that didn't work for my hair type and that would grow out horribly. Also, just an experience that didn't feel like I was being taken care of or that was fun for me. My first visit to Meshelle was for a cut and color correction. I had been doing my own color for years (badly) and as a result had a very uneven tone with several different shades. Meshelle spent a lot of time talking to me about what I wanted and choosing the right color. She had to do three different processes on my hair to correct the color and I was left with the most beautiful, even and glossy color I have ever had. The haircut she gave me was perfect and she even mapped out a plan for how to grow out certain sections and what we could do over time to even things out. Go see her. Needed to find a local stylist...didn't want to start going back to the city, even though I love my stylist there. I thought I'd take a chance since my last cut was an even much bigger leap of faith, having it done in a very small town in Mexico. Meshelle did a great job on my pixie cut. You'd think short hair would be easy to do, but with all of the layers it needs to lay perfect. You can't just throw it up in a pony tale on a bad hair day, you know? Just moved to Walnut Creek from New York. I found Meshelle's information on tell actually. I have long, very thick hair and love the way keratin treatments make my hair! I have had four keratin treatments in the past so I know how they work. Meshelle does a great job and was nice enough to squeeze me in. The nice part about the treatment she uses is that you can wash your hair after six hours and you do not have to wait three days. It is an expensive treatment anywhere. This treatment cost me 30$ more than the last time I got it done and she said that she gave me a 50$ discount. So it is expensive, but it's Walnut Creek, everything is expensive. Meshelle works on Sundays and is quick to respond to texts! And she has great hair! Highly recommended. read more

I wish there was the option to give more than 5 stars because the art that Meshelle creates with hair deserves more! Meshelle is the ONLY person i trust with my hair and the ONLY hairstylist I'd recommend. I've been to many salons, Victorias, Vidal sassoon, beauty schools, and either left with feeling alright or just disappointed with my haircut. I've never had that experience with Meshelle and can confidently say that would never happen.
