I've gotten my hair cut by both Manny and Gus, and both are good! Not only do they cut well, but they make sure to go through the details of what you're trying to do. Manny got me ready for my wedding haircut. At the time, I was going for a slightly longer look (more timeless) and we played with it over a few appointments to see what would be best. It turned out exactly how I wanted thanks to his detail and patience. My last few cuts have been with Gus, where I've been experimenting with some shorter cuts. Like Manny, Gus is all about the detail and doesn't disappoint. This is a really low-key barbershop (three chairs) where they simply produce good haircuts. I had been looking for some time for a place to take my 14 year old autistic son to get shaved. As a mom, I had tried to shave him myself once and it didn't go great. Because of the reviews, I decided to make an appt with Manny at The Good Old Fashioned Barber Shop to at least get a basic shave so my son would be hair free for awhile because his peach fuzz really irritates him. From the moment I talked to Manny on the phone, I had such a great feeling about the appointment! He told me to bring the shaving tools we have so he could show my son how to use what he had and to make recommendations on tools that might be better for his face. When we got there, this cool, funny, patient guy gave my son a shaving lesson from start to finish. He took my son's sometimes unusual questions and comments seriously and explained the science behind ingrown hair and razor burn. Manny would do part of his face and then have my son do the other side so he got hands-on experience to back up what he was being told. I know a shaving lesson is probably not the typical service offered at a barber shop, but I can't express to you enough how great Manny was with my teenager and with us, the grown-ups. I've had cuts all over the country and no where compares to here. Not only do they give the best fades, but they're all around awesome dudes. Recently went in to get a haircut that represented something really important to me, and for this task I could only trust one man. This man came through with exactly what I wanted, he even went above and beyond by giving me a " ghost line". At first I was a bit skeptical about this ghost line, but after he explained what it would do for the haircut I trusted that he could accomplish what he was offering me. I do have a widows peak and also slightly, what is apparently the correct term, follicly challenged.... (balding). The ghost line that Manny gave me made the cut work, my widows peak dissappeared and he made me look less challenged (Insert laugh here).
