Don't like leaving bad reviews but consider this: Came visiting Tijuana from LA (for a dental visit) and wanted to come in for a possible hot oil treatment and trim since I had some spare time before my appt the next day. Ruben checked out my hair and yes, it was pretty frizzy and I explained to him that I like to stick to natural options. I also told him that because I don't really comb from the paranoia of my thick wavy hair getting yanked out (I finger comb) I do see the accumulated hair fall out. He said it's normal for only 5 hairs to fall out a day lol. Yeah, check any sources it's actually 40-80 depending on the person. He said natural products don't work (ok). ***Obviously a lot of products will have synthetics in it as a preservative but won't do you harm. Millions of GORGEOUS women (men too) all over the world and instagram sharing their knowledge on natural DIY methods & how beauty doesn't have to come with risks. He actually claimed synthetics are way better (which is when most people who cherish their health would have thanked him and left). Unbelievably I went against my better judgment & agreed to a keratin treatment. After washing this dude yanks the shit out of your hair while he's wringing the excess water and aggressively uses a towel instead of patting drying so you won't get breakage. And AGAIN YANKS your hair after the actual treatment. After the treatment and right before the trim, he asked who cuts my hair as if to say they didn't know what they were doing (the chick that cuts my hair has been in the industry for 24 years and super well known lol). I just smiled politely. The way he grabbed my sections while cutting immediately let me know he definitely hasn't peaked as a stylist yet. After all this yes, I STILL paid AND TIPPED. Then while leaving wondered where his 5-star reviews came. It's like giving a dentist 5-stars because he did a "good cleaning". Totally clueless on how he would have done if you had a cavity, erosion, tooth break, nerve pain, implants etc. A couple hours later my intuition started messing with me knowing I shouldn't have done that, so I called to ask if the keratin treatment he used had formaldehyde. His reply was "what's that?"WTF?! I almost passed out. A stylist with supposedly 8 years clueless to what that is totally unaware of what toxic/cancer causing ingredients he's putting into his clients hair. I had him send pics of the ingredients and after seeing it did have formaldehyde, I hit the shower and shampooed 3 times to get all that toxic trash out immediately. Was a huge mistake and don't like leaving negative remarks but to the people that choose health before anything, avoid. There are way too many salons out there that are up to date on the current trends of hair products and treatment that don't put you at risk and make you look and feel amazing. Somewhat nice but needs to update his knowledge. ASAP. read more

I had an amazing experience here at the salon. Rubén and the other stylists were very welcoming and heart-warming. My experience here was by far amazing, and I love the way my hair turned out. I would like to mention that my hair is very thick, and curly. I have always been afraid to go to salons and ask for a trim because instead of a trim, they sometimes accidentally cut off too much of my hair that is noticeable after shrinkage. However, Rubén made me feel so reassured about trimming my hair to the desired length and was able to do soft layers. He gave me exactly what I wanted and more, I couldn't be happier. He even cut my moms hair. She has more loose curls but her hair is still very thick, nonetheless, he did an absolutely amazing job! I would recommend him for all hair types of course, but to all the curly heads out there, Rubén will have you walking out the salon looking right! read more
